Winter seems to move at a much quicker pace when the nightly hockey news has no mention of collective bargaining.

After a year in self-imposed exile, the NHL is back and already cruising through its midseason point. The Olympic Games in Italy in about a month will mark the league's official pause, but most teams already have 40-plus games under their belts. But with new rules and new faces in new places, most of us are only now getting comfortable with the current campaign.
