The American League may have clinched home-field advantage by winning the All-Star Game yet again, but that's about the only thing that has been decided as baseball enters the second half.

Perhaps because so many teams remain in the thick of the playoff race, the chase for individual honors also remains crowded with contenders. David Ortiz is off to a strong start for the Red Sox, but can he hold on and win the MVP award that alluded him last season? Or will Jim Thome or Jermaine Dye lead a late surge that sends the White Sox past the Tigers in the AL Central and captures the attention of MVP voters?
