The WNBA playoffs began with dynasty runs from the Houston Comets and Los Angeles Sparks, but three different teams claimed the title the last three season. And as the 2006 postseason gets underway, the defending champion Sacramento Monarchs face a long road to repeating.

Much was made of the increased scoring in the WNBA this season, the first with a 24-second shot clock, but parity also seems to be climbing. The Connecticut Sun earned home-court advantage throughout the playoffs, while the Sparks earned the top seed out West, but will either team survive tough brackets?
