In the morning the story was that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens had tried to kill himself by overdosing on pain pills. By the afternoon, a smiling Owens was catching passes at practice and saying "the rumor of me taking 35 pills is absurd."

Throughout the day, details began to emerge that did nothing to clear up exactly what happened Tuesday night when Owens' publicist, Kim Etheredge, called 911 after he became unresponsive. But after leaving the hospital Wednesday morning, an alert and well-spoken Owens faced the media at an afternoon press conference and denied trying to commit suicide.
