Vote: Is Shawne Merriman the tip of the iceberg?

After losing a close game against Kansas City on Sunday, San Diego's season could be in peril in the wake of news that star defensive player Shawne Merriman has been suspended for four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. But could Merriman's suspension turn out to be an even bigger loss for the league itself?

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday that sources have told him Merriman's suspension is "definitely" the result of a positive test for steroids. That would make Merriman arguably one of the highest-profile players suspended for using steroids in any of the major pro leagues in this country. But do you believe this is an isolated incident for one young player, or the tip of an iceberg that could derail the NFL's march to market domination?

Sound off on a potential nightmare for the NFL, SportsNation.
