Vote: Is Daisuke Matsuzaka worth all the hype?

Did Daisuke Matsuzaka and Scott Boras get the last laugh?
Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein and team president Larry Lucchino weren't exactly told to either come back with owner John Henry's plane or on it, but their last-ditch jaunt to California to negotiate a contract with Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka appears to have staved off an embarrassment that would have spanned two continents.

After returning to Boston with the team brass on Wednesday, Matsuzaka officially agreed to a six-year deal worth $52 million.

At least now the Seibu Lions can rest easy. As for the Red Sox, only time will tell if Thursday's agreement on a contract will be the gift that keeps on giving.

With the contentious negotiations between Boras and Red Sox officials now a thing of the past, it's time to get down to figuring out what this really means for the Red Sox on the field. Is the 26-year-old ace worth the money? Will he be Boston's ace in 2007? The deal may be done but what's your take on Matsuzaka, SportsNation?
