Vote: Did the Veterans Committee get it right?



Ron Santo's contributions may have gone overlooked.
It's never been easy to get into the Hall of Fame.

Just ask Ron Santo. A Cubs standout and one of the best third basemen of all time, Santo has languished on the ballot for both the writers and veterans. He was a dark horse candidate to get in this year, but fell a mere 5 votes short of the 62 required for induction.

Santo and other big names (Maury Wills, Roger Maris, Joe Torre, Jim Kaat) were all denied induction for at least one more year, though Santo and several others can at least point to upward trends in voting.
