Unlike the other three major professional leagues in the United States, the NFL doesn't see a lot of its big-name stars changing teams on the open market each offseason. But just because names like Petyon Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson or Shawne Merriman aren't likely to pop up in free agency doesn't mean it's a useless exercise.
From emerging stars (Adalius Thomas) to seasoned veterans (Patrick Kerney) and short-term solutions (Jeff Garcia), valuable players are available as unrestricted free agents this year. Throw in the intrigue surrounding restricted free agents like Matt Schaub and Michael Turner and it shapes up as an interesting shopping season.
So who are the best bets on the open market, SportsNation? Should some team pay up in both money and draft picks to lure Schaub away from the Falcons? And is the current system to restrictive? Vote on NFL free agency!
