The start of free agency brought plenty of stories about players coming and going across the NFL landscape, but Brett Favre leaving the scene for good trumped any other gridiron news.
According to Chris Mortensen, Favre's agent informed the Packers on Monday night that the legendary signal caller is hanging up his cleats after 17 seasons, three MVP awards and a Super Bowl title. After weighing the same decision last spring, Favre returned and led the Packers to a surprising run to the NFC title game.
