Vote: Carolina Panthers in 2008

Panthers

The 2008 NFL schedule is out! And that means it's time to start overanalyzing each team's schedule and making predictions for 2008. Sure, the NFL draft may not have arrived yet and training camps are months away, but that's not going to stop SportsNation from getting its picks in, right? But before you get to prognosticating, let's take a look back and see how SportsNation has fared in its quest to predict the Panthers' record in each of the past two years:

SportsNation Schedule Prediction History
2006
2007
SN Prediction:
12-4
14-2
Actual record:
8-8
7-9

Carolina Blues

Carolina fans expected the Panthers to go 14-2 in 2007, even though the team underachieved the previous season, going 8-8. The early season loss of Jake Delhomme did not help the Carolina cause; Vinny Testaverde and David Carr split time under center for much of the year. But did fans really expect the Panthers to win tough, late-season road games in Jacksonville and Green Bay? And although the NFC South is by no means the toughest division in football, the fans' predicted 5-1 division record was just silly; the Panthers finished 3-3 in the NFC South.
