The draws for the 2008 Wimbledon Championships have been announced, and there are plenty of story lines to examine.
Roger Federer enters the tournament coming off a beating in the French Open final, compliments of his longtime rival Rafael Nadal. But this is Wimbledon, a tournament that Federer has won since 2003. Last year, however, Federer's Wimbledon reign was almost brought to an end by Nadal. In a classic five-setter, Federer overcame a tremendous effort by Nadal to win his fifth title at the All England Club. Nadal is sure to pose a threat to Federer at this year's Championships, as will young gun Novak Djokovic. Djokovic recently suggested that Federer is a little worried about the confident, young players in tennis. Will Djokovic or Nadal bring an end to Federer's Wimbledon dominance this year?
On the women's side it seems like a pretty open tournament. Although when one considers a Williams sister has won six of the last eight tournaments, the field may not be as open as it appears. Not to be overlooked is Maria Sharapova, who will try to repeat the success she experienced at the 2004 Championships, when she won it all. Standing in her way, however, will be tennis' newest sensation and 2008 French Open champion Ana Ivanovic. So just who will emerge as the ladies champion, SportsNation?
