All of a sudden, everyone is talking about the Eastern Conference.

In part, that's because of all the losing . . . and all the coaches getting fired.

But it's also because the East is now the conference of LeBron, Rasheed, Stephon, Jermaine, and at least three serious title contenders -- the Pacers, the Nets, and the Pistons.

Is the East still the West's whipping boy? Or is this ugly duckling becoming the NBA's swan?
