Going pro out of high school?

Baseball prospects can sign with MLB teams right out of high school, and Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany thinks that Division I football and basketball programs might benefit from that model being applied in their cases. The idea of paying college athletes has been a serious topic of conversation recently. Instead of giving athletes a stipend, Delany thinks that allowing them to go pro would be a fair way to let them monetize their skills. Would this cause more harm than good?
