Gary Kubiak had a winning record with the Texans for most of his tenure in Houston, but an 11-game losing streak this season dropped him three games below .500. The Texans won't give him a chance to even the ledger, as they fired him after an embarrassing loss to the equally lowly Jaguars. Injuries decimated the Texans this season, and Matt Schaub's pick-six problem was difficult to foresee, but it's tough to justify keeping a coach whose team has fallen apart this dramatically.
Here's a sampling of what readers had to say in our Facebook conversation on the story:
The Texans were generally respectable under Kubiak but were never really contenders for anything other than a quick playoff exit.
If the Texans land and keep the No. 1 pick, they could pick up one of several potentially franchise-changing players.
