Titans make Ken Whisenhunt coach

A franchise and a coach both longing to get back to the Super Bowl joined forces Monday, with the Tennessee Titans announcing the hiring of Ken Whisenhunt as their boss on the sideline. The Titans made six playoff appearances from 1999 to 2008 -- including a Super Bowl trip under Jeff Fisher -- but haven't been back since. Whisenhunt led the Arizona Cardinals to an improbable Super Bowl berth in 2008-09, but a dropoff led to his dismissal after last season (he served as San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator in 2013). Whisenhunt was a hotly sought-after candidate; the Detroit Lions also seemed like a strong suitor. Was his choice a good one?
