U.S. suffers heartbreak vs. Portugal

The U.S. was seconds away from a historic win over Portugal and the top spot, at least temporarily, in Group G. Then a counter-attack happened, allowing Cristiano Ronaldo to connect with Silvestre Varela for a last-minute equalizer in what ended up a 2-2 draw. Americans all over are naturally disappointed, but all is not lost for the U.S. -- even if they lose, as experts might expect, to Germany on Thursday. If the Americans finish level with Ghana or Portugal on points (which they will with a U.S. loss and a win for either of those teams), it will come down to goal difference. How will it play out?
