What does WC run mean for U.S.?

The U.S. held strong, taking Belgium to extra time in their round-of-16 matchup, then stealing back a goal after falling behind 2-0 in the additional 30 minutes. But in the end, the Americans went out of the World Cup -- albeit later than many expected when the groups were revealed. Will this run have a lasting effect on the sport in the United States?
