Questions of due process, Faustian bargains and even the Second Amendment aren't exactly what most fans sign up for when they buy the face paint and fire up the grill. In fact, the whole Plaxico Burress mess is enough to make a person long for the days of indecisive quarterbacks waffling over comebacks. So where do we stand?

In an ESPN Chicago poll nearly two weeks ago, 75 percent of voters said they wanted the Bears to sign Burress. A few days later, SportsNation as a whole offered the same answer, in slightly less emphatic terms.

Roger Goodell needs to keep this guy out for now. Plax needs to have his day in court and pay any debt that he might owe to society before he is allowed to play.

    • Beano CookBefore the season I said Florida would beat Notre Dame. Now, I'm saying Florida beats Texas. But I don't change my prediction. If Alabama beats Florida, I don't know who I would choose Alabama or Texas.
    • Charles (Dayton, Ohio)Good Afternoon Mr. CookWhat chances do you think Ohio St has of beating Oregon in the Rose Bowl?
