"Phil can't win the US Open. He does not play the right type of golf for this tournament. Grip it and rip it and then smack it out of the rough does not work in the US, and he never wants to adapt to the course." -- SportsNation commenter Dr.3knees on Phil Mickelson.

So much for sentimentality. Then again, the U.S. Open is a tournament that doesn't give an inch to good stories, as Tiger Woods proved in winning on one good leg last year.

SportsNation correctly picked Woods to win that one (of course, you pick him for everything). Voters also picked Mickelson to finish second and weren't completely embarrassed when he tied for 18th. But will voters rank Lefty with their hearts or their heads this time around? We know where Dr.3knees stands.

Kenny Perry

Kenny Perry stopped by Mike and Mike on Tuesday to talk about the upcoming tournament. Justin Timberlake, Ben Roethlisberger and Michael Jordan all broke 100 on Bethpage Black recently (Charles Barkley is still on the course), and Perry thinks that may indicate good things for the pros this weekend.
