Wimbledon Heats Up

It's a good thing it's been four years since Roger Federer's next opponent, Robin Soderling, took a set off the No. 2 seed. Besides trying to complete the difficult feat of back-to-back French Open and Wimbledon titles, Federer goes into the second week of play knowing he must win the title to regain his No. 1 ranking. And oh, yeah, he can stake a claim as the greatest player in tennis history with a 15th Grand Slam title.

Perhaps Federer's main competition comes from the next generation of British men's tennis, Andy Murray, who faces more than a few expectations from his countrymen. The No. 3 seed, Murray, cruised through his last match, but he's never reached the semis at Wimbledon. If he were to win his home major, he'd be 5 points short of taking over the No. 1 ranking. He would also, perhaps, help bring some sunshine back to his hometown of Dunblane -- which has been clouded by tragedy ever since 1996.

What a horrific scene the town of Dunblane had to endure. I am glad to see that they have gotten the hope back they need in Andy Murray with the tragedy. I don't follow tennis much, but from what I have read and heard on Andy, he is exactly what this town needs -- a hero. He has as good of a shot as anyone at Wimbledon, and I hope this town gets the light back they talk about. Go get 'em Andy!

What happened in Dunblane was awful, and for Andy Murray to give his hometown something to cheer about and be proud of is great to see. Go win Wimbledon, Andy.
