Based on Thursday's "PTI," we'd say J.A. Adande isn't a fan of the BCS. At least that's what we think "the cartel that sucks the essence of fair competition out of college football" suggests. Maybe we're reading between the lines too much.

But to our collective dismay, the beast that is the BCS won another round this week when the Mountain West signed on after months of protesting and lobbying for change (and you thought Hawai'i vs. Georgia was a mismatch). Perhaps surprisngly, voters aren't convinced the BCS system has been an entirely bad thing for the MWC and WAC. But they remain certain the system isn't fair and unpersuaded that it can't change.

I still think just to give the BCS a black eye, the congress should push to have the word 'Championship' removed from the 'BCS Championship Game'. The idea is that this is not a TRUE championship game (as with playoffs) and the label 'misleads' the public as to its meaning and significance. Instead, maybe they should instead call it the 'BCS "WE DON'T CARE HOW GOOD YOU ARE, WE ONLY CARE ABOUT RATINGS AND MONEY" GAME'.

The BCS is still a million times better than the system in place before it. I'm waiting for a playoff, too, but it isn't going to happen for several more years.
