Manny Ramirez misses a significant chunk of his team's season after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs and is greeted with a chorus of cheers upon his return … in San Diego … where many of those said Dodgers fans presumably drove to cheer Ramirez in his return rather than wait the extra days for his home debut in Los Angeles.

David Beckham misses a significant chunk of his team's season after choosing to test himself in a better league and gets a reception cooler than anything that greeted the Spice Girls movie of yesteryear when he returns to the Galaxy's home stadium.

We're not sure we get you, Los Angeles.

Then again, this is the city that gave us Brangelina, and a city in which Beckham and disgruntled teammate Landon Donovan rank a distant third as the city's most intriguing sports couple. Doing things the dysfunctional way is as Californian as sunshine, highway gridlock and budget shortfalls. Boo Becks and cheer Manny? Sure, why not?

I have to laugh at the average American soccer fan. They truly are clueless. All Becks wanted to do was play at a superior level and Serie A is miles above the lowly MLS. To boo him is beyond ignorant.

L.A. sports fans have the lowest IQ in the country. They cheer manny ramirez and boo David Beckham? Proof positive.

I'm sick of waging this pseudo-war with America about the status of soccer in this country. Those that like it will like it. Those that don't, won't. Those that criticize it don't know anything about it. America has made it's decision about it's favorite sports. We are a unique nation when it comes to athletics. Soccer serves as a lifeline in many of the countries it's in. Here, we don't need it or appreciate it like they do and I doubt that will change. I'm too tired to fight for it anymore.

As for the Galaxy "fans" that were booing a player on their own team. What a joke. I can understand other fans booing the opponent -- but your own team?! Have some guts. Gotta love it when the tub-of-lard Jim-Rome-ites up in the stands with noisemakers yell obscenities at one of the world's greatest players.
