Has any athlete ever been as consistently good, and yet steadfastly, almost artistically, avoided greatness quite as well as Sergio Garcia?

This week's PGA Championship is Garcia's final major before turning 30 and another in an increasingly long list of chances to win his first major. Sure, 30 isn't old in golf (just ask Tom Watson), but Garcia has tried and failed to win the big one 41 times since turning pro after a dazzling amateur performance at the 1999 Masters. And people said Dan Marino couldn't win the big one.

Despite as many missed cuts as top-10 finishes since 2004, SportsNation still loves the guy.
