Is Tate Forcier the best freshman quarterback in the country? ESPN's Todd Blackledge told "The Herd" that he's the right fit for Michigan (podcast, left). And SportsNation blogger Lett08, a Michigan fan, says the Big House hasn't been this loud since Charles Woodson and Brian Griese roamed the sidelines, in stark contrast to the grumbling out of Columbus about the quarterback who got away from the Wolverines.

A little more than a week before the start of the season, Forcier finished third in a three-person race when SportsNation was asked to pick Michigan's best quarterback. The only states to put Forcier ahead of Denard Robinson and Nick Sheridan? Michigan and Ohio.

Michael: Good question. Robinson is so athletic that he can obviously be used at other positions ranging from RB to WR to DB to returning kicks -- if he's open to that. He might not be. Might have his heart set on playing QB. If I were Rod I would appeal to him to try other positions this year and help the team perhaps do something special after being picked to have a mediocre season, then revisit where he'll play for the long term after the season. He might want to transfer, I don't know. Full transcript
