May The Schwartz Be With You

Brett Favre made all that waiting worthwhile (well, at least for fans in Minnesota). Drew Brees finally looked like something other than a video game quarterback on the easiest level (not that the Saints needed him against the Bills). And Peyton Manning actually broke a sweat (and not just because he played in Arizona).

But for all the Week 3 headlines, don't the Lions deserve to start the week in the spotlight after winning for the first time since Dec. 23, 2007? If you don't think that's an eternity in football time, consider that T.J. Duckett was the leading rusher that day and the Washington Nationals lost 205 games between Lions wins.

So just how much hope should Lions fans allow themselves this morning? SportsNation only recently dubbed them the most legitimately miserable in all of sports, but is Matthew Stafford now a more likely savior than Stephen Strasburg or Blake Griffin?

A few good drafts, a few intelligent free-agent signings, and a lucky break in the late rounds and the Lions are the '01 Patriots. Things can change QUICK in the NFL, so I wouldn't bet against any outcome in Detroit.

Dear Mr. Snyder, You are the worst owner in all of sports. Congrats.
