The Lions and the Cowboys playing home games on Thanksgiving? That's a November tradition we can get behind. Leftover turkey sandwiches? Yep, sounds good. Jimmie Johnson's annual NASCAR coronation? Eh, he seems like a nice guy and all, but we don't see that one catching on. Johnson's win at Dover last weekend still leaves him a few points shy of Mark Martin, but the familiar sight of No. 48 winning a Chase race had SportsNation questioners nervous about history repeating itself as the postseason shifts to Kansas.

Jeff Gordon looks like a beaten man. To share a shop with the 48 and not get the results seems to be sucking the life out of him. Are JJ and Chad that much better a duo, or maybe is it actually that Gordon has too much too live for post racing on his mind (model wife, new baby, wine business) and the just can't/won't live on the edge anymore.

Most drivers reach a point were they don't have the same fire they had when they were younger. I really think Gordon is as good a driver today as he was when he was winning titles, but I think the series has much more talent that it did 10 years ago. And Gordon isn't as good in this car as he was in the old one. But he's still capable of getting hot and winning the title. Full transcript.

Cale (Boston)

Jeff I admit to being biased against Johnson, but I can't be the only one who's going to shut NASCAR off for the year if he starts running away with the Chase again. How come nobody cites the foregone conclusion of Johnson winning the Cup annually as a primary reason the ratings slide in the fall?

Count most of the garage with you on that one, Cale (awesome name by the way, just saw him down at the Darlington Historic Racing Festival). As guys got out of their cars after the race and realized that Jimmie was the guy who'd won, they were just crushed. I've never been a big believer in the "dynasties build fan bases" theory. Jordan winning the NBA title every year got a little dull didn't it? Full transcript.
