You remember the greatness that was the 2002 Carolina Panthers, right? Lamar Smith tearing off yards three at a time and the unstoppable connection between Rodney Peete and Kris Mangum? Or perhaps that 7-9 campaign had slipped your mind. We bring up the Panthers because they started 3-0 that season, as did the 2003 Vikings (9-7, missed playoffs), 2004 Jaguars (9-7, missed playoffs) and 2006 Bengals (8-8, missed playoffs).

For just the second time this decade, seven teams are perfect through three games, but if history is any indication, at least a couple can book January tee times somewhere warm.

From the Saints and Jets squaring off in a battle of unbeatens to the Broncos playing as a home underdog against the Cowboys, Week 4 will provide more evidence. But while we wait, which teams are for real out of the perfect seven?

The problem that the Jets are going to have is that the Saints offense is unstoppable. The Bills showed the world that on Sunday. They figured out a defensive scheme that would limit Brees' ability to pass. But you know what happens when you run that defense? Run blocking becomes exponentially easier, and Thomas busts out 120+ yards and two touchdowns...without playing in the first half. Defending the Saints is an impossibility.

I don't believe in fans talking smack, let the teams do the talking on the field. All I know, is ima have to get to the Dome early for this one. Getting out there at about 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning. Start the grill, throw some andouille and gator on the pit.

    • Stephania BellWade: Portis is already out for Week 12 and Cartwright stepped in and did a nice job when Betts was forced out with injury. So I think he's a worthy option.
    • Jesse (Indianapolis)We are having turkey fried, roasted and smoked. Which do you prefer? Oh, what is up with Calvin Johnson?
    • Stephania BellJesse: I have never had fried turkey - but I hear it's the best! Dying to try it...As far as Johnson, he got banged up (knee again, especially near the end of the game and his hand which was bothering him heading into the game). With it being a Thursday game the team is being very non-committal, making it seem that he is doubtful, but I still think there's a decent chance he plays - as of now. We really get little though from the Lions in advance, so you'd better have a backup ready.
    • mike (portland)good morning, whats the latest on cedric benson and his hip, do you think hes going to be back this week after the rest?
