Will he or won't he? That was the question surrounding wide receiver Michael Crabtree's curious decision not to immediately sign with the 49ers, the team that had drafted him. Now that Crabtree is finally a member of the San Francisco squad, let's take a look back at SportsNation's ever-evolving opinion on the whole bizarre issue.

Back in August, SportsNation thought it was a done deal that Crabtree would play -- more than eight out of ten fans thought he'd come to his senses. Nearly a month later, that number had dropped a bit, with about 70 percent thinking he'd sign, but most figuring he wouldn't play a significant role with the team. Midway through September, as the saga dragged on, only slightly more than half thought he'd contribute in a significant way this season. On the same day, however, SportsNation recognized Crabtree's overall talent and said the 49ers would be better off with him.

Now, after Crabtree finally signed two weeks ago, the team is planning on starting him this week against the Texans. Good idea? At very least, SportsNation thinks he's better than another controversial receiver.

So the 49ers are going to rush Crabtree out there who hasn't played in almost 10 months, has barely practiced with the team and they think it's going to make a difference! He may look good in practice, but they forget he's practicing against the 49ers defense who is one of the worst vs the pass in the entire league!

He better be worth it after holding out so long. I wonder how much better our offense would have been had he signed on time... Oh well, guess we'll see what he's about on Sunday.

I like Crabtree, but the only thing killing the Niners pass game is a shoddy O-line and a guy who can't throw the deep ball. The Niners need more big downfield plays.
