Perhaps we should have known it was going to be a bad week for coaches when it started with Bill Belichick under fire.

Two days after Belichick's fourth-and-2 call heard round the world, the axe fell on Dick Jauron in Buffalo. And Eric Mangini can't feel safe after having to effectively apologize for calling a play that resulted in his lone good player getting hurt in garbage time.

On the college scene, Charlie Weis and Rich Rodriguez are feeling the heat and potentially on the verge of unemployment for failing to win enough at traditional powerhouses. Lane Kiffin just kicked two players off his team, only to see headlines about another cited for shoplifting. And now Kansas is looking into allegations of misconduct by Mark Mangino.

Everywhere you look, football coaches are under fire. But is it all much ado about nothing? Are either pro or college football coaches the most important coaches in sports?

I don't think Charlie can get fired. I know that ND has deep pockets, but that is a heck of a lot of money for another coach for a program that obvioulsy cannot win due to admissions. When was the last time ND was actually on the national stage in terms of winning a championship. Please they have made BCS bowl simply because they have a ton of fans.

Mangino is the best thing that's happened to KU Football. Hopefully they dont make the mistake of getting rid of him.

I knew the Bills SB Days would end soon after forever after Bill Polian was fired by Ralph Wilson. The Blue Jays were never the same level again after Pat Gillick was gone from them. The same could be said about Bill Polian's departure from the Bills.
