Cowboys fans only wish Roy Williams got his hands on the ball as well as France's Thierry Henry did Wednesday against Ireland. With World Cup qualification on the line, and heading toward a penalty shootout in mere minutes, Henry's blatant-but-uncalled handball handed France a win after his cross was headed past the Irish keeper. It was enough to make Maradona blush, if he wasn't busy getting suspended for ripping officials.

We understand a lot of SportsNation residents are, at best, casual fans of the beautiful game -- far more are interested in the upcoming Winter Olympics than the World Cup. But in a fall full of botched calls across the world of sports, does this one, especially considering it might have cost a team a spot in the globe's biggest sporting event, take top prize?

Henry should not be villified for what happened. The ref should. It is sad for Ireland but that is the reality of football. Players make mistakes and refs are supposed to stop this and rectify the situation. Remember the hand of God saga of Diego Maradona in 1986 World cup? I also dont support tv replays as it will take something out of football,

So much for Fair Play that FIFA likes to promise. It's times like these where soccer either needs television replay OR a 5th assistant. Desperate or not, knowing full well you handled the ball, he should have had the integrity to say something. France could have very well won in a shootout, but at least then, the win wouldn't have been tainted.
