    The Nominees

Mike Iupati: Idaho's turnaround this season has been widely attributed to its improved offensive line play, with Iupati being its anchor. On the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy, Iupati delivered as expected. The 6-foot-6, 330-pound guard is an almost immovable object in the middle of the Vandals' line.

Russell Okung: The only offensive lineman named as a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award, Okung and the rest of the Oklahoma State Cowboys' line have only let up seven sacks this season. Okung is considered by no less an authority than Mel Kiper to be the best tackle in the country.

Ndamukong Suh: Suh is a terrifying presence on Nebraska's defensive line and a big reason for Nebraska's resurgence as a contending program on the national stage. Mel Kiper has had Suh listed at or near the top of his Big Board rankings for most of the season, which is reflected in his jack-of-all-trades performance: Suh has tackled runners in the backfield, sacked quarterbacks, blocked kicks, broken up passes, and even recorded an interception.
