The Lakers are suffering through a three-game losing streak for the first time since they acquired Pau Gasol midway through the 2007-08 season, and Gasol is suffering through his coach's trademark verbal barbs among other ailments. Who said all the drama produced in Hollywood was confined to the Academy Awards?

It has been a long time since the Lakers weren't one of SportsNation's top two teams -- not long on the timeline of James Cameron movie's but lengthy nonetheless. You have to go all way back to the middle of November to find a time when voters didn't place the Lakers in one of those top two slots. But after Sunday's loss to the Magic, the Lakers are just 17-13 away on the road, a place they went 29-12 during the 2008-09 regular season.

So with the Mavericks working on an 11-game winning streak and the Nuggets still right in the mix, are the Lakers faltering?

Anyone think andrew bynum would sleep walk through the season like he does now if he was on the Cavs with Lebron??? Bynum would develop into a dominate big man and look like he actually enjoys himself, unlike the miserable stiff he looks like playing with KB24, the most selfish player in any team sport in the world not named John Terry.

Lakers may be starting to sweat about the standings now. Mavs are just 3 games back with an 11-game winning streak and a cake schedule remaining. Lakers have @Suns, @Thunder, @Spurs, @Nuggets, @Hawks, @Rockets, @Hornets left on their schedule.

I was wondering this while watching them sleepwalk through mot of the game [against the Heat]. Last year they really didn't start looking like a championship team until later in the Western Conference finals. Remember how shaky they were against Utah and Houston? So maybe this team can get back to that level they displayed in June ... but I'm starting to get skeptical. How many great games have they played this year? Only a handful. Full transcript
