For the first time in more than three decades, a running back will defend his Heisman Trophy on the college gridiron. So with reigning Heisman winner Mark Ingram back in Tuscaloosa, Ala. taking handoffs for the Crimson Tide, at least we don't have to waste any time debating the best running back in college football ... right?
Bruce Feldman recently put Oregon State's Jacquizz Rodgers as the first name on his list when queried by a SportsNation chatter. It would be easier to make a case for blasphemy if there weren't also suggestions, as Mark Schlabach echoed in another chat, that Ingram might not even be the best running back on his own team this fall.

Would you trade either Mark Ingram or Trent Richardson for Jacquizz Rodgers from Oregon State? Would Nick Saban?
SEC blogger Chris Low

Wes F (South Carolina)
Is the back-up running back at Bama, Trent Richardson, as good as rumor has he is?
He might be better than the starter, who won the Heisman Trophy. Full transcript
