The Lou Groza Award is named for NFL Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954. He is regarded as the first kicker to be truly considered an offensive weapon. In 2009 the award was won by UCLA's Kai Forbath.

To find out the official winners of college football's major awards, tune into The Home Depot College Football Awards live on ESPN on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. ET. Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard will host the show, which will originate from the Atlantic Dance Hall on Disney's Boardwalk at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

The Lou Groza Award Nominees

Dan Bailey: Bailey recently became Oklahoma State's all-time leading scorer by the NCAA's count with 358 points. He is 24-of-28 on field goals this season and 2-for-3 from 50 yards or more. His longest field goal of the season was 52 yards against Louisiana-Lafayette.



Danny Hrapmann: Hrapmann set the Southern Miss season kick-scoring record with 129 points. He is 26-of-30 on field goals and has converted all 51 of his PAT tries. He is 2-of-3 from 50 yards or more and his longest field goal of the season was 54 yards against UAB.



David Ruffer: Ruffer is 15-of-15 on field goals this season and has made 20 straight going to last season. He was successful on a 50-yard attempt against Pittsburgh, his only kick from 50 yards or more on the season. He is 34-for-37 on PATs.
