Today's story: Mets don't want R.A. Dickey to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for charity.

Oh, that's right, you can sign with another team for similar or better money and have a better chance of winning -- assuming it's not a serious injury. Sadly, he's the Mets' best starting pitcher. I'm surprised a few other Mets haven't signed on for the hike after hearing the 'threat.' "
• john25861: "Not 'dangerous'? I did not realize the author climbed, or rather, walked blindfolded up the mountain."
• BigMac44: "It's a long way up, granted, but this is not a climb. It's a hike. Not a big deal, and good for Mr. Dickey to try raising some money doing it."
• hbsmithjr: "The Mets would have been much smarter by offering to make a donation to the cause, and privately talking to Dickey about not climbing if they were truly concerned he could get hurt. A little PR creativity could have gone a long way into turning this into a positive."
• jimmeykey5: "The president of my college climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro just four or five years before retiring in his late 60s. If the old man can do it at age 62(ish), than surely Dickey can manage."
