Louis Oosthuizen tossed the ball from his double eagle into the crowd at Augusta National, and a lucky fan caught it. He'll be giving it back to the club, but is he unusual in doing so? Would you try to sell it?
Arabian steeler: "It was nice seeing the scene after Mitchell caught the ball. He was passing it around to the patrons so they can also get a glimpse at it. It was the opposite of what you would see at a baseball game and this was a piece of history not just a foul ball."
winwithariz: "Nice to see the patrons with a little more class at this event. Sadly, if this had been the US Open or as mentioned, a baseball game, that ball would be held hostage. Congrats to Mitchell for a lifetime memory and maybe some generosity headed his way from the normally stiff green jackets. "
Goose 1983: "Free round plus lifetime tickets for the tournament would have been my request."
CM0133870: "Any chance they give the ball back to Oosthuizen? Or do you think Augusta will just keep it? I feel like Augusta has to ask him if they can keep it, or is it considered 3rd party after it switched hands the first time?"
TexKula: "what a great story. restores some of my belief in the goodness of people. not sure what the negotiations were like, but i hope they were fair to all involved. nice ending to a wonderful masters tournament. way to go bubba watson."
RichWW2: "Let me play two rounds of golf at Augusta National with one extra person and you guys have yourself a ball. First round for fun, take pictures, etc. The second round would be the serious round."
