College football seasons

Tony Dorsett (1976)
Rushed for 1,948 yards and scored 22 touchdowns in 11 official games. Became the first player in NCAA history to reach over 6,000 career rushing yards. His mark of 6,082 yards stood for 22 years until it was broken by Ricky Williams.

Hugh Green (1980)
Won the Lombardi Award and Maxwell Award while finishing second in the Heisman voting. Set Pittsburgh's career sacks record with 49.0, a mark which still stands today. The NCAA did not start recognizing sacks as an official stat until 2000, and the current record-holder is Terrell Suggs with 44.0.

Marcus Allen (1981)
Became the first college running back to rush for over 2,000 yards, finishing with 2,342 yards rushing and 23 total touchdowns on a whopping 36.6 carries per game. He also led USC with 29 receptions.

Herschel Walker (1981)
Rushed for 1,891 yards and scored 20 total touchdowns in 11 official games his sophomore year, would set the NCAA 3-year career record the following season with 5,259 yards rushing.

Barry Sanders (1988)
Rushed for 2,628 yards, had 3,250 all-purpose yards, and scored 37 touchdowns in 11 official games, all of which set NCAA records (he set 31 other NCAA records in 1988 as well).

Ricky Williams (1998)
Williams rushed for 2,124 yards and 27 TDs in 11 official games his senior year, setting the NCAA career rushing record with 6,279 yards (broken by Wisconsin's Ron Dayne the following season).

Reggie Bush (2005)
Rushed for 1,740 yards on 200 attempts (8.7 yards per rush attempt), caught 37 passes for 478 yards and scored 19 total touchdowns. Rushed for 294 yards and 2 touchdowns on his way to 513 all-purpose yards in a 50-42 win over Fresno State.

Vince Young (2005)
Passed for 3,036 yards and 26 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. Rushed for 1,050 yards and 12 touchdowns. He's one of four quarterbacks to pass for 3,000 or more yards and rush for 1,000 or more yards in the same season.

Tim Tebow (2007)
Passed for 3,286 yards and 32 touchdowns against only 6 interceptions. Rushed for 895 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Cam Newton (2010)
Passed for 2,854 yards and 30 touchdowns against only 7 interceptions. Rushed for 1,473 yards and 20 touchdowns.
