Police are mulling charging David Nalbandian with assault after he kicked an advertising board which then hit an official. Nalbandian was disqualified from his match, but was that the right decision?
shake2007: "I see a lot of folks here with knee jerk reactions. Nalbandian hit a sign which hit an official. Djokovic did the same thing at the french and it didn't hit an official. Maybe the ad placards should be made of something less likely to get kicked or hit off the chairs."
fredthomas1: "I would understand Nalbandian's excuse if he kicked a sign and it went flying across the court and hit someone accidentally, but he just booted that thing into the dude at point blank, the heat of the moment excuse only goes so far."
DoctorJ2003: "This is not a big deal at all. He didn't intend to kick the line judge."
DodgeballHero: "Everyone needs to have some control and composure. I would be okay with him being fined for kicking the sign alone. Why would you even kick something inches away from someone anyways? Incredibly stupid action."
KingsQuesnel39: "Why are we not questioning the placement of this advertising board? Do we really need advertising 6 inches off of the ground, surrounding the legs of an ancient line judge? Who on earth could read it? Also, if the board isn't there, Nalbandian would have had nothing to kick as I doubt he would have kicked the guy in the shins. Get the officials away from the playing surface, having him within 3 strides of the court is a joke, and this whole thing makes tennis look bad."
Crewfans620: "Accident or not, it was a stupid decision to kick the sign in the first place. Its unsportsmanlike to put on destructive displays period."
