There were some embarassing moments for the NFL's replacement officials in Week 2, particularly in the Falcons' win over the Broncos on "Monday Night Football." The NFL, which has locked out the regular officials in a labor dispute, says the replacements have made great strides while performing under the microscope. But frustration is starting to build over the replacements' mistakes and more players are speaking up about the quality of officiating. Has the situation reached a tipping point?

• jimmyb2623:"Last night the refs threw flags and then had to discuss and figure out why they threw them. The first quarter took an hour last night. Something needs to be done."
• -SOBO-:"...the worst part is the lack of momentum. Watching these fools stumble through erroneous calls, then go to video for 5 minutes, then get together to discuss it once again is leaving me wondering if I'm watching a baseball game."
• drukemp77:"We complained this much with the regular refs, but nobody cared because there weren't alternatives. Now because these are backup refs and there is an alternative, normal issues are blamed on them. There were a few times last year where the ball was not spotted correctly. A barely made toe tap is hard to see in real time and the replay got it right. This happens all the time with the regular refs. Sure, knowing all the rules is taking some time to adjust but I think they are doing good and getting better. "
• PhinsFishCanesHeat :"Funny how "player safety" was the big part of this conversation early on. The media and pundits painted a seemingly Gladiator-esque picture of the NFL with replacement refs. Turns out that no one has had their head caved in, carted off the field with missing limbs, or had Russell Crowe run a sword through them. Football is innately dangerous at any level, regardless if a man in black and white stripes is watching it happen. With all the griping from the media and broadcasts, I have to believe they are in the ref's (or the ref union's) payroll. You can't go a single drive without being reminded that the game is being run by replacements."
• GuruFee:"I was embarrassed for the league on Monday Night Football. The refs just killed the momentum and flow. Sad to see a multi-billion dollar game ruined for a few bucks!"
• Pearl Jammer126:"Why all the talk about bringing back the real officials before a team might lose out on a playoff spot due to a bad call? Last time I checked, a loss early in the season counts the same as a loss late."
• zeidan:"Anybody who thinks these refs aren't messing up the product is wrong. Joe Flacco was right, they were ruining the integrity of the game. If Goodell doesn't have the regular refs in by this Thursday then he is truly failing us all. I think the players should collectively hold out until the regular refs are back."
