It's early in baseball's 2013 regular season -- too early, in fact, to draw anything but the most rudimentary of conclusions -- but the Yankees might have given their fans a preview of their outlook in an 8-2 loss to the Red Sox. New York looked old and slow and a lot of other adjectives that, when applied to a team as a whole, indicate bad tidings. To wit: The last time the Yankees finished below .500 was 1992, which doesn't sound like that long ago (and in geological terms it isn't), but is basically forever. Yankees fans aren't used to losing, but if Opening Day was any indication, 2013 might be the year they're reintroduced.
