A 50-point penalty may not seem like a lot, but Matt Kenseth's failed inspection will cost him more than he could make back in a single race, even if he came in first and led every lap. See that video above of his awesome win at Kansas? Essentially, it never happened, and all because of a connecting rod in his car's engine that weighed three grams less than the 525-gram minimum. We're reminded of the old story about a war being lost for want of a single nail, but we're not sure said story included weight restrictions on the nail.

A comeback for Kenseth?

Kenseth has some ground to make up before he makes his way back into the Chase -- he's tied with Jeff Gordon for 14th place.

Will Matt Kenseth (fell from 8th to t-14th in standings after penalty) qualify for the Chase for the Sprint Cup?
