We keep waiting for Chris Davis to slow down -- even a little bit!-- but it's just not happening. The Orioles slugger hit his 37th home run of the season over the weekend, giving him a slugging percentage of over .700 and putting him within range of a pretty significant milestone. He'd have to double his total to break Barry Bonds' record of 73, but he's well within range of Roger Maris' mark of 61 -- a record many believe remains legitimate, considering Bonds' alleged connection with performance-enhancing drugs. Davis has had a clean reputation so far, making his chase potentially quite compelling.

Untainted record

This season is Chris Davis' best by far, but his home run power was never in question -- it was whether or not he'd ever be able to put the rest of his hitting skills together.

Would you consider Chris Davis to be the legitimate holder of the single-season home run record if he hit 62 or more home runs this season?
