Can the Yankees rebuild quickly?

We very well may see something this year that hasn't happened since 1992: the Yankees finishing the season below .500. They dropped to 57-56 after they couldn't hold on to two leads in Wednesday night's loss to the White Sox. The Yankees have been weakened by injuries, but it's unlike them to be mediocre, especially at this point of the season. Whether you attribute it to bad luck, incompetence, or simply the aging process, it's clear the team still has to find its way out of its moribund state.
