U.S. team soccer stars in MLS

Two big things have happened to Major League Soccer in the past week, both involving two of the U.S. Men's National Team's best-known players: Landon Donovan reportedly decided to re-sign with the Los Angeles Galaxy, and Clint Dempsey's Seattle Sounders debut drew more than 67,000 fans to a home match against the rival Portland Timbers. While MLS had 14 players on Team USA's Gold Cup roster, many of the national team's best are still playing pro soccer overseas. With Team USA riding a long win streak and the 2014 World Cup around the corner, is MLS on the verge of growing into a bigger compeititor for North American sports fans' attention?
