Rob's here!

Cody Doegg Dallas GA

Rob Gronkowski what are you looking for in a school? Why don't you go to UGA they produce alot of NFL Tight ends

Rob Gronkowski
  (3:58 PM)

First, a top 20 business school. A program that gets a lot of players to graduate. I know the coaches will be there for my grades. A football program that competes for championships and bowl games. I just started receiving mail from Georgia.

Freddy: Hazel Green, WI

What did you change in your training to prepare for this up coming football season?

Rob Gronkowski
  (3:59 PM)

I didn't really change anything in my training. I have a trainer that helps a lot of the top athletes in New York. I go there and he helps me with football things during the summer. Before that, I work out at my school with my team and I go through their running.

Bill, Miami

How much recruiting of you do your brothers do for Maryland?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:00 PM)

They've done some. They're not going to try and push me all the way, because they know it's my decision. They think it would be a great time if I went there with them.

Mike Popal: (Jacksonville Florida)

Dear Rob, How do you think your team will be this season? Are there any other Division One prospects on your team?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:01 PM)

I really don't know exactly what we're going to do, but I know we're going to go to the playoffs. We have a good running back that's getting some looks from Boston College. We have a quarterback that's getting recruited by a couple of D-IAA schools.

Will, Austin

Your Brothers played with a great TE in Vernon Davis -- were you able to talk with him and get any tips?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:01 PM)

I talked to Vernon before and met him. But I didn't really sit down with him and talk football. I just met him, that's all.

Buffalo, NY

Rob, where did you get those huge guns.

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:02 PM)

My dad owns a fitness store, so he brings home equipment all the time. We have a bunch of equipment at home in the basement. I'm always working out there or at school.

Garrett, Jonesville Michigan

What school woould you like to go to?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:03 PM)

As of right now, there's not one school that's stuck out. There are many that I would like to go to. I'm waiting for the time when a school does stick out and I will commit there.

Howard

What has been your biggest turnoff regarding the recruiting process?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:04 PM)

The biggest turnoff is when a coach came in and asked my head coach if I wanted to play offensive tackle in college.

Tom, PHX

Is weather a factor for you coming from the cold? Weather in AZ is nice?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:05 PM)

Arizona, I like it a lot. But as far as the weather, I would love to play in some nice weather, but if it comes down to a school with not as nice weather but I like the school, I'm going to go there. But nice weather would be nice to have.

Joe (New York, NY)

Rob, which conference do you feel is the premiere conference in America, and will its prestige, exposure and competition play a part in choosing a school?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:06 PM)

I've always grown up with the Pac-10, that's my conference. I also like the ACC, with my brothers playing in it. I think the ACC has the best competition. I also like the SEC.

P1TTFAN(Sarasota, FL)

Rob, I went to Williamsville East and then the University of Pittsburgh. Pitt has an awesome Business school...I retired to Florida at the age of 42!...and its close to home...Coach Wannstedt would love to have you as Panther...please visit and consider playing for Pitt, they have the finest facilities in the country.

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:07 PM)

I've been to Pittsburgh for a camp. I like the facilities there. Like I said, I'm open right now. That could be on my summer schedule as a school to visit.

Beth Williamsville, NY

Rob-If you are looking for a top school that graduates its players and focuses on student athletes than look no further than PSU!!!! I hope JoePa shows you what Happy Valley is all about. I would love to have another local guy to root for.

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:08 PM)

Penn State is a great school, I think. I'm not sure what I'm doing over the summer, but that might be on the list of schools to visit.

Joe McCann: (Little Rock Arkansas)

Robert, Is your quarterback going to be able to get you more catches this year? So you think he is a D1 prospect as well.

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:09 PM)

My QB, we've been working together about once a week. We are good friends. We've been talking and he will be getting the ball out to the WRs and me at TE. He'll be getting us the catches and the wins. He's a real good quarterback. He's getting recruited by some D-I schools but I think D-IAA would be a good fit for him.

Sean (Boulder, CO)

Is it weird that so many people are lobbying their colleges when they talk to you? By the way, Colorado has great skiing, if you are into that. :)

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:11 PM)

I don't go skiing that much. The last time I went skiing was two years ago. I'm kind of used to you that people are always talking about their schools. It was weird at first, but now I know what it's like.

Garrett(Jonesville Michigan)

What TE do you look up to the most?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:11 PM)

Jeremy Shockey. Once I heard about him, I started looking up stuff about him and I just love the way he plays.

Mike, Pittsburgh

You have 3 older brothers that are standout athletes... which one is the biggest influence on you?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:13 PM)

I wouldn't say one has the biggest influence on me, but they all do. The oldest one doesn't play football, he plays baseball for Jacksonville. He's in the regionals. He's about to get drafted, which is great for him.

Garrett:(Jonesville Michigan)

What is your favorite thing to do besides play football?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:13 PM)

Working out. I play baseball. I also play basketball. In the summer, I play every sport, tennis, volleyball, with all my friends. I would say working out is what I mostly do though.

John, Boston

Rob, Have you visited Boston College or considered them? Along with a top business school, they also have one of the highest graduation rates in the country.

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:14 PM)

I talked to some of the coaches. Yes, I am considering them. It sounds like a great school. Like I said, I don't know what I'm doing over the summer, but they have a good chance of me coming down to visit.

Tim, LA

will you play other sports as a senior or concentrate on lifting and getting bigger for college football?

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:15 PM)

I am definitely playing basketball next year as a senior. Baseball, I'm not 100% sure yet that I'm going to play. I might just lift and get bigger and ready for college football.

Rob Gronkowski
  (4:16 PM)

Thank you very much for having me on the show.

Craig Haubert
  (4:18 PM)

Thanks to Rob for joining us - It was great to have him on -- and we wish him the best of luck. Be sure to read more about Rob in this weeks Get to Know.

Craig Haubert
  (4:18 PM)

lets get to some of your questions

Joe, Chicago IL

Once again there is a wealth of talent in the DC area, last year the Fridge had trouble holding on to much of it. Is this year going to be different and who do you see as the most likely to end up with the Terps?

Craig Haubert
  (4:21 PM)

You are right the Maryland/DC area soes have some good talent again -- but I think once again it will be tough for the Terps to compete and land many of them. I could see guys like Austin and Lazear go out of state. RB Terrence Kerns has already committed to WV.

Craig Haubert
  (4:22 PM)

Kind of forecasting down the road It might be a good year if they can land one or two top guys in the state like Benn. But I don't see them fairing much better then last year with in state talent

Seth (Arlington, VA)

Do you think there is any downside to Texas having basically wrapped up recruiting before seeing any of these kids even in camps before their senior year?

Craig Haubert
  (4:24 PM)

I don't think so -- The Longhorns have their recruiting philosophy and so far it seems to work pretty well. They are pretty fimiliar with what these kids can do already and don't need to see them in camps this summer.

Jorge Parra (Bell, Cali)

I am a huge USC fan, are the trojans going to suffer in recruiting this year? They are loaded at neary every positions, are the recruits going to be turned off by these and go some where esle? O

Craig Haubert
  (4:26 PM)

I doubt it -- The top kids love competition and all think they can play where ever they go (often that is what makes them so good) Remember Galippo who joined us a few weeks back was not worried about the guys already there. Many like playing with the best.

Craig Haubert
  (4:27 PM)

Also many recruits know that the best guys will play at USC regardless of what year they are.

marc (dc)

How is Ohio State doing so far, any quality early commitments? Thanks.

Craig Haubert
  (4:29 PM)

so far two early commits -- both from in state - no shocker there - coach Tressel does very well in state.

Craig Haubert
  (4:30 PM)

Both guys are very good quality pick ups -- S Nate Oliver & RB Brandon Saine -- you can read their reports on the recruit tracker.

Wes (Atlanta)

Craig, I have heard very little about Clemson's recruiiting so far. Have they signed anyone of value, and is 10 wins realistic for the coming season?

Craig Haubert
  (4:34 PM)

Clemon has not signed anyone yet - not till NSD -- but they have one really big time verbal so far from in state QB Will Korn. Plus several other pick-ups (6) including a good gurad in Wilson Norris. Good start for Clemson - which will have it work cut out for them on the recruiting trail as a SC is picking up more steam and will battle for in state talent

Craig Haubert
  (4:35 PM)

10 wins will be very tough but possible

Mark (Chicago )

Should Husker fan be worried that Nebraska hasn't gotten more commits at this point?

Craig Haubert
  (4:37 PM)

it is still a little early to get worried -- Niles Paul was a nice in state pick up. However, I feel it is a big year for Nebraska in recruiting as they need to have a strong year with HS talent. Once again they are a presence nationally -- especially in California -- need to land some of these big time guys like they did two years ago

Jason (Metairie, LA)

What's the scoop on LSU's latest QB pickup from Texas? How about their class so far?

Craig Haubert
  (4:41 PM)

Jarett Lee out of Texas is a good pick up -- good arm very good at throwing on the move -- nice upside

Craig Haubert
  (4:42 PM)

Rest of the class is strong so far -- RB Steven Ridley is a very good back

Nate (CA)

Are Carr and Michigan losing their recruiting clout with all the recent losses and dips in national rankings?

Craig Haubert
  (4:45 PM)

I don't think so - I actually think MI is off to an excellent start this year. We have seen 5 of their 6 verbals so far and they all grade out high. We have talked about Mallett - has some mobility issues - but possibly the best arm in this class and a great fit for that offense. Finch is a very good S prospect and TE Van Bergen is a Big TE

Craig Haubert
  (4:46 PM)

So Michigan fans have to feel good so far about what the Wolverines have been able to do

Jeff (Wewoka)

Craig, how's OU doing thus far?

Craig Haubert
  (4:48 PM)

The sooners have a few early pick ups from in state - have not had a chance to evaluate them yet - so it is tough to say how good they are -- both have a good buzz concerning their ability - we will try and get them done very soon.

ken (Tarazana)

What do you hear about the QB Foles that just commited to ASU. I used to wait tables at his father's restaurants.

Craig Haubert
  (4:53 PM)

Foles is a big QB -- some of that may have to do with his father owning a restaurant as you mentioned -- but he is what you are looking for in a pocket passer -- not a guy that seems like he can create when things break down -- but give him some time and he can throw the rock around. Good arm and accuracy -- good pick up for the Sun Devils

Tom, Virginia

How do you see UNC's recruiting class coming along so far?

Craig Haubert
  (4:56 PM)

So far, so good... to steal the quote -- but I really think that the Tar Heels are off to a good start and keeping some of the momentum from last years strong class.

Craig Haubert
  (4:57 PM)

I think that UNC is one of the more underrated teams when it comes to recruiting --

Josh (Evansville, IN)

Any chance Notre Dame lands Marvin Austin?

Craig Haubert
  (4:58 PM)

Yes there is a chance

Seth (VA)

Is Spurrier going to have a better class this year at SC?

Craig Haubert
  (4:59 PM)

I think so - Like I said earlier in the Celmson question -- they are becoming more of a force to be reckoned with.

Craig Haubert
  (5:00 PM)

Three very good early verbals -- 2 from in state -- CB Gary Gray - one of the best in this class and OT Quintin Richardson.

Mike (Dallas, TX)

Which way is Chris Forcier leaning?

Craig Haubert
  (5:02 PM)

As of right now he is heading to UCLA

Craig Haubert
  (5:04 PM)

That is all I have time for today --

Craig Haubert
  (5:05 PM)

One quick note - This Friday at 3pm ESt on ESPNU -- DE Justin Trattou -- from Don Bosco in NJ will be announcing his decision live -- between OSU, PSU, and ND -- please join us.

Craig Haubert
  (5:06 PM)

As always thanks for stopping by -- Once again thanks to Rob for joining us -- Have a great week and weekend.
