Tom Luginbill
  (3:03 PM)

Welcome everyone. DaJohn is here and waiting.

Dan (Detroit)

DaJohn, I saw your list of schools includes the likes of USC and Miami. Does that mean that you're not looking to stay out west and maybe go elsewhere? How about the Florida Gators?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:04 PM)

Florida had an awesome year. If they offer me, I don't have a problem going anywhere. I'll go anywhere.

Bob (Los Angeles, CA)

Guys, what is the biggest factor that you're considering in choosing a school?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:05 PM)

Well, I would say academics, simply because you can always get hurt. I want to still get my education if that occurs.

Doug (Miami)

DaJohn, I saw you have USC on your list of schools. Is that true? If it is, does the recent negative news about coming out of the program effect your thoughts on going there at all?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:06 PM)

When the school is on top, they will always try to bring you down. Being on top, that happens. That really doesn't effect my choice. If that's my school, I won't let that material effect my choice.

Travis(Madison)

DaJohn any chance you'll make a decision to come play for coach bielama at Wisconsin?

Eric from Salt Lake City, UT

Tom, what is your take on how USC's 2007 class is turning out and also, do any of these prospects want to play for USC?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:07 PM)

I haven't really been in contact with anyone from Wisconsin. So right now, I'd say no. I'm pretty much wide open. So if they offered, I'd consider.

pat(chicago)

DaJohn what NFL DT's do you think you compare the most to and why?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:08 PM)

Well, I think I compare myself to Julius Peppers. I'm not as fast as him, but the way he gets into the backfield is similar to what I've done in high school.

Mike, Dallas

Dajohn, The Champs (Texas) need help at DT in the next cople of year have you tought about comeing south ?? Thanks

DaJohn Harris
  (3:09 PM)

You know Texas came and talked to me, but the thing about them is that they wanted me to commit early and I didn't want to do that.

Curtis (South Bay, CA)

DaJohn, make it official, you need to be a Trojan!

DaJohn Harris
  (3:10 PM)

I'm going to take my trips first and then see what school's best for me.

Anthony(California)Ventura

Dajohn how is your recruitting process?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:11 PM)

My recruiting process is going well so far. I'm getting to explore somethings that other players aren't able to. So it's going pretty well.

Rick, Aspen

DaJohn have you thought about who some of your official visits will be to? have you set any dates yet?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:12 PM)

I thought about which schools I want to visit, but I haven't made an official list. We're only in June, so come September, I might have more offers and more trips, so I'm not sure yet which trips I'm going to take.

Tom (Alamogordo,NM)

What do you see as the biggest difference between UCLA and USC ?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:12 PM)

I would say the opportunity to play or not.

Mike (Long Beach)

How has the recruiting process gone as compared to how you guys thought it would go? Is it about the same?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:14 PM)

It's a little bit more. To tell you the truth, I didn't think I was going to get any offers until my senior year. It's surprising and overwhelming and I like it. A lot of phone calls. I have 19 offers.

David (Columbus)

Dajohn do you have a list of top 5-10 schools? ND have any shot?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:15 PM)

I have a top 10, and that's not really firm yet. Notre Dame hasn't really said anything to me or my coaches. They're a very good program, so if they offer, they have a chance, but they haven't said anything yet.

Tim, Houston

DaJohn I saw you are a versatile athlete what position do you see yourself playing in college after you have some time in the weight room

DaJohn Harris
  (3:15 PM)

I probably see myself playing the DE or DT.

Todd (Fresno, CA)

DaJohn, will Pat Hill and Fresno State be on your 'school visit' list?

DaJohn Harris
  (3:17 PM)

It's funny because Fresno State came to our school and they said I was a "big-time player"

Buzzmaster
  (3:17 PM)

Apiata is here!

Albert (Toronto)

Apiata, have the schools that are recruiting you said whether they plan on keeping you at DE or do they plan on having you change position?

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:18 PM)

Some colleges prefer DE, some prefer OLB.

Alan (Pittsburgh)

Apiata, from what I've heard, you've got schools like Oregon, Washington, Arizona on your list of schools. Are you looking to stay out West somewhere?

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:19 PM)

Honestly, I haven't made up my mind yet. Every school is in competition. My preference is that I'm a local boy. I'll probably stay out west.

Tim (Houston)

Which school left you with the greatest impression?

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:20 PM)

I would say USC so far. I haven't visited other schools yet. This summer one of my trips is to Oregon.

Adam (New Mart, WV)

Any of you men considering WVU?

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:20 PM)

Yes, I would. They haven't offered. I'm interested in any college.

DaJohn Harris
  (3:20 PM)

Same here for me too.

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:21 PM)

I'm a local boy, but I always wanted to try Miami. They've offered me.

Brian, LA

If you were to get a UCLA offer, how high would they be on your list?

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:21 PM)

I would pick that over USC, because I've always liked the Bruins.

Jeff (Gainesville, FL)

Does the West Coast have love for any East Coast teams? Top 3 East Coast teams do you think you would consider?

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:23 PM)

Miami, Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State are ones I'd consider.

Todd (Fresno, CA)

Apiata, will Pat Hill and Fresno State be on your 'school visit' list?

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:24 PM)

They would be on my list. All the schools in general. Some have already offered and some didn't. But no hard feelings.

Lance (Chicago)

Apiata, being a DE, does a program's prestige in sending DE to the NFL have any factor in your decision?

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:24 PM)

Yes it does.

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:25 PM)

I don't mind playing DE. I'm trying to learn other positions too, just to help me out.

Andrew, Fairfax, VA

Apiata, any chance you would go to a smaller conference school like Utah in the MWC? They've been to a BCS bowl more recently than a number of big time schools!

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:26 PM)

Basically, either D-I, Pac-10, Big 12, SEC, just the opportunity of the program to get into the next level and also getting my degree.

Tim, Cleveland

Apiata who do you compare yourself with in the NFL? how many sacks do plan on racking up this year?

Apiata Tuihlamaka
  (3:27 PM)

The sacks, I don't know, honestly. At least over 7, to have a good season. I have too many idols at each position. At DE, Jason Taylor. At LB, Brian Urlacher.

Tom Luginbill
  (3:31 PM)

Those guys have to run - I would like to thank those guys for stopping by. Best of luck to them.

Jerome (San Diego)

How big a splash is Chuck Long making at San Diego State?

Tom Luginbill
  (3:34 PM)

I think Chuck ong will find the SDSU job is not as easy as he thought it might be. He brings a name and history of success as an assistant, but he is not going to be able to land and lure the type of players he did at Iowa and Oklahoma. Mid-major programs will always get late commits because they are recruiitng kids who still think they are "Big 6" caliber.

Chris (Lincoln)

Hey Tom... Any new word on Logan Gray? Are the Huskers in on any other top-notch quarterbacks? We have to get a good one this year!!!

Tom Luginbill
  (3:36 PM)

I have been swapping phone messages with Logan for the past few weeks and he would like to commit with us on TV when the time is right, but for now he is keeping mum. I think he is underrated as a passer and deserves more credit as a gunslinger than he gets.

nate (madison)

you have ronald johnson rated at a 82, would he be higher if he had not been hurt last year?

Tom Luginbill
  (3:38 PM)

No, we were able to see enough footage of him to make a fair evaluation. An 82 makes him a potential impact guy early on in his college career and I happen to have written his report. He hsould amke an appearance in our initial 150.

Mallory Edwards, Spartanburg, SC

What kind of recruiting splash will Spurrier make this year

Tom Luginbill
  (3:40 PM)

A big one, if you read my article today, I have them as one of my five programs on the rise that have achance to break out this year. they have three potential 150 ids commited already in CB Gary Gray, RB Brian Maddox and OT Quinton Richardson. Look for them to land a QB who will drive steer their ship in coming years.

Jeff (Wewoka)

Mr. Luginbill, how is Oklahoma's class looking so far? What top players do they have a real shot at getting?

Tom Luginbill
  (3:42 PM)

We absolutely love Austin Box, he is one of our favorites. S Desmond Jackson is adding to an already deep and talented secondary for the Sooners.

nate (madison)

some people think jermiey finch could end up at linebacker at michigan, how would he rate as a linebacker?

Tom Luginbill
  (3:44 PM)

If so, it would be as an outside linebacker and not as a fulltime run-stopper, but yes he would fit nicely in that role.

Matt (Findlay,OH)

Compare and contrast the recruiting styles of Ty Willingham and Charlie Weis. I understand it is hard to recruit from the golf course.

Tom Luginbill
  (3:44 PM)

It isn't that hard for Spurrier?

Travis(Madison)

How would you rate Wisconsin's class with Clay and without?

Tom Luginbill
  (3:49 PM)

Right now they only have three commitments which isn't surprising. OT Josh Oglesby is mammoth and fits the mold of the strength of Wisconsin's interior run game. Expect most of their commitments to come during the fall. If they get John Clay it would be a nice addition to Lance Smith from 2006 who I think is going to be spectacular. A real thunder and lightning combination. Wisconsin has always doen a good job of keeping the states best in Madison.

Kevin (Los Angeles)

Does Arizona have a legitimate shot at landing Everson Griffen?

Tom Luginbill
  (3:52 PM)

I really think so. Many may be shocked when they see our evaluation of Everson which is coming soon. Yes, he has the measurables, but we have concerns. he reminds us a bit of last years Jared Odrick from PA. Arizona right now is on the right track and going after the right guys, particularly in California. Griffen's report should be posted soon.

nate (madison)

do you guy only look at film or do you also go to combines and camps, if you do does a camp or combine performance help change a players rating.

Tom Luginbill
  (3:55 PM)

I person or on film. We do not put much stock into combine results as they are a measure of athletic feats, not necessarily of football playing ability. The forty yard dash is highly overrated and the 20 yard short shuttle can be underrated. As a coach and scout, I have seen hundreds of players who look great in shorts and shirts, ut can't play the game as well as you would think when the lights come on.

Tom Luginbill
  (3:56 PM)

results can be deceiving and just because a player may test well, doesn't mean his stock should all of a sudden sky rocket. Combines and camps have merit, we are not saying they don't, just not as much as fans may think.

ronald victor (atlanta)

It always seems that "recruiting experts" favor some schools strongly over others. I thought ESPN's reason for bring you guys in was to avoid that. Your blogs and chats show you're not doing a very good job of it.

Tom Luginbill
  (4:00 PM)

I disagree. We are not a service to schools at the college level, our business is not geared towards making any one coach or school happy. We have no allegences to anyone but ourselves and ESPN. We do not adjust rankings according to where a player commits of if he goes to a certain combines. I do not know how we could more anymore objective than that. Obviously some teams warrant more interest than others, but we don't control that. Sorry you feel that way.

Tom Luginbill
  (4:01 PM)

Thanks for coming on with us. Sorry Anthony Broyes was unable to make the chat due to a basketball conflict. Hope you enjoyed the other guys. Take care and have a good week.
