AJ Mass
  (2:59 PM)

Good afternoon all. We've got sixty minutes to chat about Week 16, which is apparently, the week that 16 year-olds feel free to announce their pregnancies to the world. In a word, oy! Let's get to the questions.

Dan (NYC)

Two quick-hits: Brees or Big Ben and Kevin Jones or Anthony Gonzalez at flex?

AJ Mass
  (3:01 PM)

I'll go with Big Ben in a far better matchup. Eagles won't mail it in, not so sure the same will be said for St. Louis. And I avoid Kevin Jones like the plague.

Chuck (Brooklyn, NY)

Deion Branch or Wes Welker for WR2 and for QB Brees, Hasselbeck or Big Ben?

AJ Mass
  (3:03 PM)

I like Welker better. Something's screwy with Seattle. Which leaves Hasselbeck out, and you can find your answer to part two in my last response.

Steven (LBI)

AJ, in my FF Super Bowl this week. Which 2 RB do I start? Jamal, S Jax, Grant, Taylor? Thanks!

AJ Mass
  (3:03 PM)

I'd go with Grant and an angry snubbed Fred.

GO AGAINST COMMON WISDOM?? I know everyone says play your best players regarless of who your opponent has. What about when you're picking between, say, Hines Ward and Plaxico, and your opponent is starting Big Ben. Do you go ahead in this case and start the slightly lower ranked Hines?

AJ Mass
  (3:05 PM)

I disagree with your premise that Ward is currently lower rated than Burress. But to answer your question, while it may help you to start a QB to prevent your opponent's WR from scoring (since any WR receiving TD would be a TD for you as well) it doesn't work the other way around. Start Ward - but only because he's the better start.

Derek, Houston

Gore,Stecker or Young, I need one.

AJ Mass
  (3:06 PM)

I'd go Stecker.

AJ - my league sucks. No one makes trades, and I've been 3rd on the waiver wire since the season started. No one has the time for live drafts, and somehow I got stuck picking last. Anyway, consolation game for last place (yah I know) - do I start V. Young or E. Manning. Or just ignore, enjoy my holidays, and work on finishing my Madden 08 season?

AJ Mass
  (3:08 PM)

Since the game is essentially meaningless, why not let your opponent pick your lineup and you pick his and whoever scores less "wins" - you're not allowed to start injured players. That might make it interesting enough to put the Wii down.

John (FL)

Bucs or Tenn Def? Housh, Ward, Marshall, Engram, A. Gonzalez, Patten - Pick 3

AJ Mass
  (3:09 PM)

Gotta go with the Bucs D who as a unit could easily be fantasy MVP. I'll go Marshall, Housh and Patten.

Darin (FL)

Kolby Smith or Ron Dayne?

AJ Mass
  (3:10 PM)

There's talk of shutting Dayne down, so I'd lean to Kolby.

So, you don't like Hasselbeck. Is Anderson that much better in potentially bad weather?

Morgan (Baltimore)

Weather conditions this weekend scares me for Derek Anderson - start Big Ben instead?

AJ Mass
  (3:12 PM)

I'm not a weather worrier. Except in the case of kickers, I don't base my decisions on snowstorms... Brady had a bad day last week, which had more to do with the Jets than the conditions. Jamal Lewis went nuts in a blizzard. I like Anderson against Cincy regardless of rain or sleet or giant monkeys falling from the sky.

Jamie Lynn (LA)

Casey Aldridge or K-Fed?

AJ Mass
  (3:13 PM)

I'd just like the address of this so-called church they met at.

Lee, NC

Kevin Jones or Aaron Stecker? Also Scheffler or B.Watson? Thanks AJ and Happy Holidays!

AJ Mass
  (3:14 PM)

Stecker over Jones. This is the point of the year you start to lean to guys with something to play for over those who don't. Scheffler hands down.

Bill Taco (Tijuana)

Looking at the rankings that just came out, Engel obviously doesnt see any Colts playing much this week. As an Addai & Wayne owner, I'm nervous. What do you think?

AJ Mass
  (3:15 PM)

I'd be leery, Yes Tony Dungy has said he's "not planning on resting anyone". But if the first half goes well, say hello Sorgi, Keith and Thorpe.

J.B. (Dunmore, PA)

Here's one for you: Sage Rosenfels or Phillip Rivers?

AJ Mass
  (3:17 PM)

I'd go Rivers. Chargers still playing for the #3 spot and the chance to lose to NE in AFC Title Game and not the week before.

Andrew (Connecticut)

Dadadada Go Pack Go!

AJ Mass
  (3:17 PM)

Nothing like annoying guitar riffs to get the cheese-heads in Connecticut going.

Robert (Kentucky)

I have lost Fargas. Is Sproles a good pick up for this week?

AJ Mass
  (3:18 PM)

I think you have to assume that Sproles will get some 4th quarter play, but I wouldn't expect big numbers out of him.

Whoa what is this talk of shutting Dayne down? He looked good last week?

AJ Mass
  (3:20 PM)

His leg is bothering him and the Texans want to see what Walker has got. Houston Chronicle reported yesterday that Ron may not play next two... it's not definite, but something to be aware of.

Greg (Texas)

I keep getting mixed answers on this one. Please give me your take. Palmer or Warner?

AJ Mass
  (3:21 PM)

I like Palmer. There's a revenge factor/spoiler role to consider and the Bengals did put up 40+ against the Browns last time.

Lacey (Minnesota)

Trying to pick my flex for this week. Brandon Marshall or Selvin Young?

AJ Mass
  (3:21 PM)

Greg (Milwaukee)

Simple one Jacobs or Addai? I always get my questions in other chats but never fantasy any idea why?

AJ Mass
  (3:22 PM)

Maybe because those other chats are charging you $1.99/minute? I keed, I keed. I go Jacobs.

mark (SD)

A J with that said about the Colts, would you start Dallas Clark, Sheffler or Donald lee?

AJ Mass
  (3:23 PM)

I like Scheffler. Scheffler is the one end to have when you're having more than one.

Wouldn't your chats be more interesting if you could avoid the who to start questions by doing weekly rankings? MJD or Gore at flex, already starting AP and Freddy.

AJ Mass
  (3:25 PM)

I don't mind the questions - what I mind is the folks who ask the same question 200 times over and over again when I've already answered their question - but not in "their post" so the think I haven't. And I think my chats are interesting - so plthptptph! Just for that I won't tell you to start MJD.

Kurt (Cleveland, Ohio)

What is the latest on Holt? I have heard the Rams may limit his minutes.

AJ Mass
  (3:26 PM)

That's what the word on the street is. With no reason to play him, they're going to lift him at the first sign of pain. Look for Bruce to play the whole 60 though in what could be his swan song.

Tom (SoCal)

AJ, E.Graham or Addai? Westbrook is my other RB.

AJ Mass
  (3:27 PM)

Graham has been a Top 10 RB, and Gruden's not going to rest him neither.

Tony Scheffler (Denver)

How come everyones got a question on if to start me, you've said yes about 10 times...

AJ Mass
  (3:27 PM)

They don't believe Tony. But I do. That's why I drafted you.

Dave (Washington DC)

If people ask questions over and over again you should answer them but tell them the opposite of your true opinion :) GB Def or TB Def?

AJ Mass
  (3:29 PM)

Tampa Bay, Dave. But now ask yourself this ... did AJ already answer this question, and if he did, did he also listen to Dave's tongue-in-cheek advice and is he telling the truth or not? Hmmmmm....

Daniel Graham (Denver, CO)

...quietly sobbing...

Haden (memphis)

Would you say the Bills have nothing to play for at this point? If so, Should I start Lendale and Jacobs (or Stecker) instead of Lynch? I need 2. Thanks for your help all season.

AJ Mass
  (3:32 PM)

I think the Bills can still get in if they finish in a three-way tie with Cleveland/Pittsburgh and Tennessee and outscore their opponents by a zillion points these last two weeks. But as impossible as it will be, they're still in it, so they will try. I'd still go Jacobs and Stecker over Lynch, but I'd go Lynch over Lunch-dale.

Jamie Lynn (Brittney's House)

Hi, AJ since I'm pregnant I really need to win my championship this weekend. Can you tell me why you like Stecker better than Gore? Also, please pick 2 from this bunch to go with my man (but not the father) Coulston: C. Henry, A Gonzo, J. Walker and Megatron. Thanks and if you answer I may name the child after you.

AJ Mass
  (3:34 PM)

Have you seen Tampa's run defense the last few weeks? Gore gets most of his yardage by sheer volume... he's not impressing me. I'd go Henry and Gonzo. Would you consider Broccoli for a boy?

Dan (DC)

Should I trust Mr Consistency David Garrard over Hasselback??

AJ Mass
  (3:37 PM)

I would. Even though Oakland has a decent pass D, there's something wrong with Hasselbeck - that whole offense just isn't working. This whole NFC playoffs is going to be ugly.

Santa (North Pole)

Ho! Ho! Ho! Will Romo and TO be good little boys and put up some nice stats so I don't have to bring them coal?

AJ Mass
  (3:38 PM)

I think you can leave the anthracite at home, Kringle.

Jamie Lynn (Backseat of a 98 Sentra in Louisiana)

In a PPR league, should I start Stecker or Kolby Smith? Thanks y'all!

AJ Mass
  (3:39 PM)

Let's use my answer in a sentence... "My sister Britney? They should Stecker in a mental hospital."

Will (NY)

What, you don't base decisions on weather? Did you not hear of the Cleveland game last week. Derek Anderson, Kellen Winslow, and Braylon were practically non-existent in that game. If you have any other options, you should never start qb's or receivers in snowy conditions.

AJ Mass
  (3:40 PM)

I'll remember that the next time Tom Brady goes 32-52 for 312 in a blizzard in the playoffs.

Wes Welker (location unknown)

Reggie Wayne for possibly a half or me for an entire game.

AJ Mass
  (3:41 PM)

Welker always gets his yards on one or two drives. No reason to think Wayne couldn't either. I go Reggie.

Gino (Bronx)

Do you guys not answer answer questions from a guy named Gino for fear of being put in cement shoes if you're wrong? Bulger, Sage, or Croyle?

AJ Mass
  (3:43 PM)

I fear no maker of Italian Ices. And I would go with Sage.

Lloyd (Detroit)

Have Graham and Lewis at RB, need a third, Parker or McGahee?

AJ Mass
  (3:44 PM)

I'd go Parker over McGahee. And let this be the kickoff to our LIGHTNING ROUND!!!

Mike (Nashville)

How scared are you that Tony "I'm not pulling my starters" Dungy goes back on his word and pulls his starters at the half or at least plays the entire game ultra-conservative? Scared enough to start Kitna over Peyton?

AJ Mass
  (3:44 PM)

No. In order for Tony to pull them, the game will likely be 2-3 scores out of reach. That's more than Kitna will likely put up.

Gabe (Birmingham)

pick 2...j.lewis, MJD, maroney or addai?

AJ Mass
  (3:45 PM)

J Lewis and MJD

Steve (Oakland)

As a niners fan, I can't stand how fantasy guys find gore so unimpressive. Fantasy point wise it's fine, but nobody can drag a pile like big Frank. Anyway, niners rush D hasn't given up more than 4 ypg in a game since week 10 at seattle, but you still think Graham's a no-brainer over Gore? Thanks

AJ Mass
  (3:47 PM)

The next time I play in a league that gives points for pile dragging, I'll start Frank. If Graham gets 30 carries for 115 I don't care about the YPC.

Andre Igoudala, Philadelphia, PA

Larry Fitzgerald or Greg Jennings?

AJ Mass
  (3:47 PM)

george (NY)

pick 2 - gaffney, patten, holmes or mason

AJ Mass
  (3:47 PM)

AJ Mass
  (3:48 PM)

Chris (Baltimore, MD)

Put any faith in Hermy Herms hints that LJ might be back on the field this week? Or will Kolby still have all the carries to himself?

AJ Mass
  (3:49 PM)

Hermy Herms also thinks Bowe has been unimpressive. I see no reason for LJ to play again this year.

Dan (Cincinnati)

Shockey owner: top fifteen (including your boy Sheffler) are taken, any darts at TE this week? Is Kevin Boss an adequate replacement or should I go with one of the usual suspects-- Baker, Scaife, Marcedes?

AJ Mass
  (3:50 PM)

Boss will be average at best. Billy Miller is a good reach - as is Ben Patrick.

dan dc

Pick 1 out of this pile of garbage known as my TE: Celek, Boss, Miller, Clark, or Olson??

AJ Mass
  (3:50 PM)

And lest I forget Brent Celek - also could be good for 60 yards this week.

Will (NY)

Come on AJ, I get your point that one can play well in blizzards. But, typically blizzards are much much more harsh to offenses than defenses. With that said, you have to factor weather in your start em/sit em decisions.

AJ Mass
  (3:52 PM)

We'll have to agree to disagree, Will. Offensive players know where they are going, defensive players have to react, and in snow- they cannot. It's the WIND that's the issue... as we saw in the Meadowlands last week... but I don't recall anyone ever saying "sit your studs - looks like wind".

Brady (Colorado)

AJ, I made it to my championship game, I'm facing the Tom Brady/Randy Moss team I beat earlier in the season, and there is no way I'm starting Lee Evans again. Pick 3. Lendale White, Steven Jackson, Aaron Stecker, and Santonio Holmes. Thank you.

AJ Mass
  (3:53 PM)

Once again, I sit Lunch-dale.

Reggie Williams, Lee Evans or A Gonzalez?

AJ Mass
  (3:54 PM)

Gonzo 1, Williams 2

Will (NY)

Agreed. Thanks for the back and forth. Now I have to work before I get fired. Much respect.

AJ Mass
  (3:54 PM)

<--- getting Will's boss on speed-dial. : )

J.B. (Dunmore, PA)

A Christmas Story or Christmas Vacation?

AJ Mass
  (3:56 PM)

While Rusty's trip to Europe is my favorite and Mr. Papagiorgio Wins Big is my second favorite, I still go Xmas Vaca over tongues stuck to poles.

Ghost of Christmas Past (Uhhhh The Past)

Steven Jackson or Ryan Grant

AJ Mass
  (3:57 PM)

Grant. Not sure Jackson plays the whole game... to see what Pittman has got

AJ Mass
  (3:58 PM)

I have time for three more!

Hal (KC)

Pick 2 Fitzgerald, Holmes, Bowe, Megatron

AJ Mass
  (3:59 PM)

Homes and Mega

Rich (Orlando)

MBIII or Jacobs?

AJ Mass
  (3:59 PM)

S-JAX, AP (Minn), or Lewis?

AJ Mass
  (3:59 PM)

Gotta start AP if I have him, though Jamal is very tempting.

AJ Mass
  (4:00 PM)

That's it guys and gals. Hope your Week 16 provides you much happiness and only one line on those little sticks that turn blue. Be well!
