It's time once again for a little fantasy chat. We're not making any lists, and we're not checking said non-existent lists twice. We're just talking fantasy for the next 60 minutes or so. So let's get started.
I need help bad with Parker, McGahee, and Colston all going down early last week. Who has best "big game potential" between Najeh Davenport, Chatman, and Bowe??? I am down 40 points in the two-week playoff series...
I think Chatman is your best bet. Davenport might get rested in a pre-injury Willie Parker kind of way.
I'm in a Playoff Elimination League and am looking for players off the eventual superbowl teams. Who you got in the big game? What other teams do you see winning 1 or more times this postseason?
Hard not to go chalk... Pats and Boys - but if you're looking for the "sleepers", I like Jags and Bucs more than any non-bye squads.
Championship week!!! You got me this far can you please pick two: Duckett, MJD, Keith, Bradshaw, Norwood or Musa Smith?
I'd go Duckett and Bradshaw - which again underlines why Week 17 title games are sad.
So hard to figure out who rests in week 17 -- I need to pick 2 WRs from KCurtis, IBruce, DDriver and DPatten. What do you think?
I'd go Patten and Curtis. Saints are still alive, so will try hard, and Eagles are too proud of a team not to also put full effort in.
Please help. McNabb or Warner?
Although I like McNabb a lot this week, Warner could easily go off for 350 and 3 scores. I'd go Kurt.
Will MJD play enough this week to start him over Stecker (what's the Bush Deal?!!)
Not likely. Taylor will rest first and then MJD will join him on the bench shortly thereafter. Bush? No reason he should play. Yes the Saints are alive for the playoffs, but they could win and still not get in - and risking Bush this week is foolish.
These questions seem CRAZY but is LT worth playing? Andre J? Fitz?
I'd be stunned if LT plays much more than a quarter. Fitz will play some but will be lifted at the first sign of stiffness. AJ on the other hand, no reason not to finish up strong.
I need to sit Wayne, right? Would Hurd be worth playing this week?
One series of Wayne might net you more points than the rest of your options, but if those options are sure to play 60, then you have to start them instead. Like a Sam Hurd, who is clearly going to be #2 for Dallas this week.
I hate going with Lee Evans and Calvin Johnson as my WR2 and WR3 in my title game, but a healthy D.J. Hackett shouldn't make me think twice about that, right?
Hackett is far from healthy in my book. So, I wouldn't think about playing him.
Is Steve Smith startable again? Over Santana Moss or Fitzy?
Steve Smith has been startable for several weeks now. But I'd roll with Santana over him this week.
I have Brady and Moss on my squad, I also have witten and wayne... are they worth playing?
Again, you're looking at hoping they do enough in a drive or two to be better starts than whatever else you have. Witten is likely better than most 2nd choice TEs, Wayne? Hard to say.
Hey AJ, Couple of questions here, I have Tony Romo, David Garrad and Kurt Warner who would you start there, and at my RB spots i'm starting three who do u start S.Jackson, R.Grant, Kenny Watson, Fred Taylor, Or Darren Sproles?
I start Warner. He's going to play whole game and put up monster stats. I'd go Jackson, Watson and Sproles (although I'd consider gambling that Grant does enough in his limited play over Darren - but in the end I'd still go Sproles).
You are right, week 17 championships are ridiculous. Look at my options: Kolby Smith, Chatman, Norwood, Jacobs, AP(Chi), Musa Smith. Which 3 would you choose?
AP, Norwood and Smith. This year is especially bizarre in that SO many games have ZERO playoff impact. I've never seen a game like Cleveland, where the Browns game is meaningless, even though their playoff fate is completely up in the air.
Hey AJ, im having trouble deciding between Clark from Ind. or Gates at TE this week, who do you go with? Gates let me down last week.
I'd not want to go with either, frankly. But if that's your only options, I think Clark plays longer with Utecht hurting.
More ridiculous RB choices: Frank Gore, Kenny Watson, Aaron Stecker, Dominic Rhodes, Selvin Young. I need 2. Ugh.
I think Gore does fine. I'd go Watson second.
drew brees or tony romo this week in the championship
Have to go Brees. Romo will give way to Johnson earlier rather than later.
Should I Go with Cutler, Collins or Bulger at QB??? RB: Bradshaw or Duckett???
Bulger is the best play given the matchup. I'd go Bradshaw over Duckett due to uncertainty of offense scheme. I know the Giants will run - Detroit? Not so much.
Does Pierre Thomas do anything for you? Over a Norwood?
Windy conditions in Chicago will likely steer Saints more to a running attack, but they need to pass to win. Either way, I don't think Pierre does much if he's forced to play for Stecker for any length of time.
Should I start Edgerrin James over Ryan Grant? I don't like it, but again it's Week 17.
Exactly. This is less about predicting the best players, and more about mind-reading coaches. And unless your name is Jackie and you're a voodoo shaman from NoLa, you're flying just as blind as the rest of us.
AJ, I HATE WEEK 17, i am loaded with players that have already clinched playoff spots, since i am not in a keeper, do i drop them all for the waiver fill ins?
Why not? If your league is foolish enough to play under those rules, then try and start the best lineup possible - if that means a Bradshaw and a Luke McCown, so be it. It's why I play in a) a keeper league, b) a Week 16 title game and c) roster freeze after Week 13. This rewards the best team and not just the squad with the best player - but doesn't battle down to the ridiculous war of attrition Week 17 has become.
Santana Moss or L.Fitzgerald?
I'd go with Santana.
Would you start me over Roddy White this weekend or Braylond Edwards?
Yes I would. Matt Moore has developed a chemistry with you, and appears to only have eyes for Mr. Smith.
Is it ok to brag if I got first place in both money leagues?
If a tree falls in a forest, and there's nobody around to listen...
Who should I start w Westbrook? Barber,Taylor,Rhodes,Duckett,Musa SMith,Fred Taylor
I think you can gamble on Barber. He's likely to play longer than his friends. Rhodes is a tempting pick, but I think that Chargers defense tries to shut down another divisional rival. Musa is the only other option, and he's meh at best.
I have been in the same league with the same group for 3 years. It is running very smoothly, and we are considering moving to a Keeper league. How would you propose we start the switch? Do the same draft rules apply?, and how many players should be kept - 2 or 3?
Bobby, two or three is not a keeper league. It's merely a draft from scratch league that starts at Round 3 or 4. I'd start from scratch next year gain, so people can draft and make moves all year KNOWING it's a keeper league, and then have each team protect a full starting lineup of guys for 2009.
P. Manning or S. Rosenfels? Please Rank these RB's for week 17: D. Walker, J. Chatman, TJ Duckett, B Jacobs, M. Smith, S. Young......Thanks AJ
Sage Rosenfels! Insanity, but the truth! Walker and Duckett and Smith are in the upper tier. Jacobs will likely not play.
Do I play Garrard, Collins, or Hill?
I think Hill has the most upside. Garrard won't finish the game.
Am I being silly thinking about starting Hasselbeck (against the Falcons) over Tom Brady, think Brady'll sit early?
Early? Yes. Earlier than Hasselbeck? No. I think you have to go with Brady.
Hey AJ - Should I approach the final week of Pigskin Pickem (in a private ESPN $$ league) with all the sits and starts in mind, also wouldn't this be the week to take underdogs with points?? Not had a question answered all year so any help please .. happy new year!
Moose, how could you ignore it? I'm not saying I have the winning teams right here... but if you know Team A doesn't care and Team B does, that has to factor in, doesn't it?
patten, burress, or walter?
I'd go Patten slightly over Walter and I'd be stunned if Plaxico isn't in street clothes.
Im wondering if anyone had the same problem in fantasy this year as i did--My WRs are D. Driver, G. Jennings, B. Marshall, A. Johnson, T.J. Houzmanzadeh, W. Welker and M. Furrey---how could you pick who to start each week--i lost first round by 13 pts and adrian peterson put up a fat 0---thanks AP--
It's your own fault for not trading some of those WRs for some RB options. What are there - six teams in your league? Starting AP last week was asking for trouble.
Kitna over Big Ben this week?
I think you have to.
Will Collins play this week or Jason Campbell?
Collins is going this week. If they win, it's 50/50 for next week - which is dumb, because putting Campbell in the mix now would be fatal.
its sad when all we have to talk about is fantasy football, lets just give the pats the trophy
Are you sure you're old enough to be in this chat, sir? Can I see some ID?
Kitna, Garrad or HIll? Pick two...Stecker, Duckett, Edge, Najeh, bradshaw, Rhodes..PLEASE
Again, I lean towards Hill who has done pretty nicely. RBs I would go with Bradshaw and Stecker with Rhodes in reserve in case Aaron has a bad practice week.
I slipped into the playoffs as the last seed -- and now I'm in the finals! I need four RBs from Grant, Smith, MJD, Watson, Duckett and Rhodes. Thoughts?
4 RBs in Week 17? Crazy! Watson, Smith, Duckett and Rhodes.
Torry Holt or Santana Moss?
Pick 2: Chi AP, K. Smith, Lynch
I'd go Chicago AP.
I have S-Jax, Graham, Lendale White and Najeh. Watson, Rhodes, Bradshaw, Ducket, Young, Walker, Keith and Stecker are available. Which 2 should I start?
Go Jackson and Lunchdale with what you have. I'd think about Watson or Bradshaw over White.
Why so high on Santana?
Redskins are actually playing for something and Moss has had scores the last two weeks. He's stepping it up and Dallas, which has not had the greatest pass defense all season, is likely to shut it down in the second half, giving him more chances to get yards.
AJ, I asked for two and I'll even add please: Chi AP, K. Smith, Lynch. Did you mean sit Chi AP?
Sorry John, sometimes we read too quickly...AP 1 Lynch 2.
Because I want a ring! And I'm willing to earn it.
I am in a tight spot and need a RB. Who do you like. Warrack Dunn or DeAngelo Williams?
I'd go with Williams. Sadly, Dunn is past his expiration date.
AJ, is Kenton Keith a good pickup over Stecker or LunchPale White?
James, I wouldn't put it past Dungy to rest Keith as well as Addai. I'd rather stick with Stecker.
R. Wayne or Laurent Robinson? How many snaps does Wayne play, 10?
Another case for banning Week 17. Decisions like this one... I still go Wayne b/c one series from him could get me 5 catches and 100 yards. I'm not comfortable resting my hopes on Laurent.
Is Santonio Holmes a safe play this week?
Safe? There is no safe in Week 17.
How much do I Play? Really?
One series - two at most.
Defence wins championships, but not if the starters play, please pick between giants, seahawks or skins
I think you go Seattle, based on the level of their opponent. Even second stringers can stop the Falcons.
Just a few more, folks... then it's time to call it a chat.
AJ, tell all these coaches in week 17 YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME, play all your players, unless you are in my position, i rest them for the draft pick!!
And that... is why you fail.
Am I a better play then Larry Fitz this week?
I'd go Cotchery. Fitzgerald is less likely to go the full sixty at full speed.
Who is a better start then me? White, Gaffney, Cotchery, Walter
Cotchery and White are likely candidates.
Wayne,Mason, or N Washington?
We'd look at Mason, though with Troy at QB, it's a tough sell. I'd go Mason by the slimmest of margins.
Will Crayton play much?
He'll leave shortly after Romo does. Expect Miles Austin, Sam Hurd and Anthony Fasano to get their 15 minutes of fame.
That's it gang. Week 17 is tough. The only winning move is not to play, Professor Falcon. But to those who do, good luck!
