Looks like we're making like Rocket, here for the next "60 Minutes" - let's hope our conversations are a bit more productive though, hmmm? Let's go!
I'm in an 8 team keeper league and just wondering out of these RB's would be worth of keeping. Fred Taylor,Brandon Jacobs,Kevin Jones or Rudi Johnson.
I'm always of the mind that you should keep as many RB's as possible. Having said that, Taylor and Jacobs are the only two I'd consider of your four. Jones did nothing in Detroit and Rudi's situation with Kenny Watson needs to be reconciled before he's worthy of a highly valued retention spot.
AJ, Just tell me what you want me to do....Keep SJax or Romo next year ? PPR league. Just tell me man....
Only one choice? I lean to the RB over the QB in almost every case. Romo is solid to be sure, but I can pick up a guy like Derek Anderson off waivers and be more than OK at QB. Jackson simply has to have a better year in 2008. And there won't be as many RB's sitting there for you to catch up with your opposition if you're starting from a disadvantage.
AJ- in your last chat you mentioned that Juan Pierre is worth consideration after the top 3 or 4 players. Would you explain your reasoning(or correct me if I read you wrong)?
First off, Brick... no need to go running off to Nate to ask me to explain myself. I'm more than happy to handle and address criticism on my own : ) Perhaps my wording was poor on that particular question. The guy asked me to pick two guys as a possible Top 4, and then rattled off a list of about 10 other players. None of them were Top 4 worthy, but I felt the need to add two other players to that long list which were in the same general ballpark - Pierre being one of them because of the large steals total. I was taking that as a separate second question, though I can see where it could have been read wrong - Juan is a 4th Round type-pick in a 12-team league.
my team heading into next year...Hasselbeck,Selvin,JLewis,Edge,TO,Colston,Chris Henry and Heath Miller...thoughts?
So much can change in an off-season, John. I think you've got a nice base to start from, though it will be interesting to see what happens with the Denver RB situation and how Seattle's receiving corps changes (or doesn't) between now and then.
Delmon, Kemp or Francouer?
I like Francouer. I know last year his HR total was a tad down, but his slugging was similar to previous years when he approached 30. I'd say bad luck had more to do with the results than anything else.
Do I keep 30/30 man Brandon Phillips or Magglio in that sick Detroit lineup ?
I'm a sucker for speed. Steals are usually not affected by your lineup. That's not entirely true, of course, but with the lineup so loaded I doubt Brandon gets a red light for fear of the opposition walking "the only bat in the lineup" as nearly every spot is a solid bat.
Keep 1 Jamal Lewis, Brandon Jacobs or Reggie Wayne?
Today I keep Wayne. I know I've been talking RB, but with Harrison's injury carry-over to next year a huge X-factor, Wayne could end up Peyton's #1 WR, and that's a guy I want on my roster.
Do you see either Kenny Watson or selvin Young starting next season?
Kenny Watson? Yes. I think Rudi's Bengal days may be behind him. As for Young? Mike Shanahan could cut the entire complement of backs on the Broncos roster except for Selvin and I still wouldn't have any faith that he would get the job. Do I think he should? Probably. Will he? With Shanahan, it's up in the air.
Did you catch the season premiere of "Medium" last night? I bet that Allison DuBois would rock at Fantasy Sports. Would that be legal?
I wouldn't be so sure. By the time she figured out that the parade in her dream meant she should draft Matt Holliday, it'll be Round 3 and too late.
Which group of keepers would you prefer (we start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WR, no flex): Brady, S. Jackson, Lendale/Edge, S. Smith or Garrard, S. Jackson, Tomlinson, Housh? I'm considering a Brady + Lendale for LDT + Housh trade (he also has Addai & R. Moss).
I'd make the deal. Brady and Manning are the only two QB's I'd consider keeping (although with 4 spots, I might open that list up a bit) - but to have Jackson, LDT, Smith and Housh? I'll take that and draft a free-throwing Kurt Warner type.
AJ please help me pick 7 for my baseball auction keeper league - Zambrano(22), King Felix(17), Kazmir(20), Hughes(8), McCann(25), Brian Roberts(19), Zimmerman(19), Delmon (16), Figgins(15), and Justin Upton (1). THANKS.
So you're losing three of those guys... I'd dump McCann - although the catcher position is scarce, that's way too much $. Kazmir at 20 seems high as well, even though I like him. I'd personally probably throw Zambrano and Roberts back and take my chances.
How are there NO COLLEGE FB chats the day after the BCS title game?
Because the NCAA insists on waiting months after the regular season ends to have two teams that are voted on play for a mythical title. If I didn't work for ESPN, I might not even have remembered it was on.
Keeper question in 16 team league. Already keeping Addai and Jacobs, please help with 3rd while giving up choice. TO 1st (10th over all. Plaxico 3rd. Calvin 4th. or Favre or Big Ben 5th. Thanks
I think you're getting tremendous value with Ben at 5, without giving up the flexibility of the 10th pick overall --- which if I interpret your rules properly, could be even higher if other teams give up a #1 for a keeper.
who do u see producing more this year eric byrnes or matt kemp? Thanks
I think that as long as Byrnes doesn't do something silly like run headfirst into a wall or something like that, he's an All-Star. Kemp had nice numbers 10-10 for just under 300 ABs. But Byrnes is more than a 25-25 guy, which is where I see Kemp.
What in the heck was I wearing last night?
I think that was from the Heathcliffe Huxtable collection if I'm not mistaken.
If you had to trade either LJ or Addai away for picks, which one would you trade? 10 team league with 3 keepers each, and what would you ask in return (1st and 2nd, more, less)?
I'd trade LJ away and try to get an owner who was confident in a full recovery to give up at least a #1 for him. Addai and a #1 is a sweet combo.
What would you do in this situation. Keeper league baseball, keep 4. I'm keeping Utley, Soriano, Hanley and Granderson. I've got Russell Martin, BJ Upton and Chone Figgins that to me would be very solid keepers. Would you let them go into the draft pool or would you try to trade them with another one of my keepers for a top 10 type player. Can you speculate on what kind of value I could reasonably expect? Thanks!
There seems to be a huge groundswell of support for Figgins. I like him, but he's only a 4th rounder in my book. If you can find an owner who really likes him, I'm sure you can get a bite. Can you get a Peavy or a Santana for him and Soriano? Probably not. Can you get Holliday? Maybe. The best thing to do is float the offers and then see if you want to do it.
Hey AJ. Would you keep Hawpe over Andruw this year? Jones' BA last year killed me!
I have Hawpe 10 spots higher than Andruw on my Draft Board. Jones primary advantage over Brad would be his speed, and quite frankly, that's fading.
Take 3 in a keeper: Liriano, Lincecum, Hughes, Buchholz, Joba, Cain, Gallardo.
I'd take Cain, Liriano and take a chance on Joba.
First time player here: I can't quite get my head around the catcher position.. I have Victor Martinez, Russel Martin, and a bunch of question marks after that. Break it down for me, brother!
Congratulations... you just broke down the position perfectly. There are some guys in the next group... Posada, McCann, Mauer, Varitek and Benjie, but the dropoff after the top names is steep.
Is Ryan Grant a lock to start in GB next year? Or is B. Marshall or Jay Cutler a safer keeper?
I think GB may try and get someone else in the RB position next season. Not that they're disappointed in Grant... it's just that with Jackson and Morency around him, he's probably a better value to them as a backup. That makes Cutler "safer" since he won't likely lose his job but I'd rather keep Marshall.
you're crazy to take Joba before Lincecum or Gallardo. crazy.
For 2008, you're absolutely right. I said I'm taking a chance... and that chance is for a keeper league where I envision Mariano going bye-bye and Joba becoming the Yankee closer in 2009.
Oh where is Allison DuBois when you need her? Time to run kids. We'll be back tomorrow same bat time, same bat channel.
