Monday Night Football marathon!

Buzzmaster
  (2:35 PM)

We'll be starting our Monday Night Football chat marathon at 3 p.m. ET. Our fantasy football expert Christopher Harris will start things off! We'll also have our Scounts Inc. and Football Outsiders groups dropping their knowledge. We'll be chatting all the way through tonight's game! Stop on by starting at 3 p.m. ET!

Christopher Harris
  (3:01 PM)

Hi, everyone. It's a Monday Night Football game with Brett Favre. Somebody pinch me. Let's get an afternoon of chatting going with some fantasy, shall we? Thanks for coming, and let's get right to the questions....

Christopher Harris
  (3:02 PM)

Hey, guys...let's get going...

Mike (Bay Area)

Whats the latest on LT? Havent heard anything valuable since Friday.

Christopher Harris
  (3:03 PM)

Hi, Mike. Yeah, the Chargers are being mighty tight-lipped at this point. Then again, it's noon Pacific Time (I'm on the East Coast), so maybe they just don't know anything yet about how he felt when he woke up. If I'm guessing, I think he's playing, but I don't think he gets 20 carries. I think Sproles is probably a slightly safer bet, but certainly without the upside of LDT.

Matt Cassel (Foxboro, MA)

OK I suck.. so what do all the Tom Brady owners out there do now?

Christopher Harris
  (3:08 PM)

Gosh, Mr. Cassel. Low self esteem, much? But the point is well-taken: Cassel certainly took a step back yesterday. He definitely didn't play well, and the fact that the Patriots defense was flat-out awful didn't help: Cassel isn't going to be the guy you want to lead your big-time comeback when the other team knows you need to throw. I have Cassel rated around 22 for the rest of the season: not really starter territory. Frankly, I prefer J.T. O'Sullivan....

Eric (DC)

Unfortunately, in a little bit of QB crisis.....My thinking leads me to them both having to deal with tough schedule and receivers not clicking......but my question is which makes the turn around...Anderson or Schaub? Thanks!!

Christopher Harris
  (3:10 PM)

Hi, Eric. I have to say, if I have to choose one, it'd probably be Schaub. The rumblings out of Cleveland today are very ominous. I don't think Anderson will get himself pulled before Week 4, but if he struggles again against a much worse defense (the Bengals), he'll almost certainly get pulled in favor of Brady Quinn mid-game. I think Schaub has more rope than that, though he's really making the David Carr Era look good in Houston.

DGA

Is Steven Jackson going to score a TD this year?

Christopher Harris
  (3:12 PM)

Well, yeah, probably. But boy, S-Jax has been ugly. I'm holding on as long as I can, and frankly, given the fact that he was probably a top-five player, you're pretty much locked into using him for the moment. I mean, you can't drop him. You can't trade him. The 3.2 ypc isn't getting it done, that's for sure. And the Rams just stink, and Scott Linehan may not be long for his job. It's brutal, I agree.

Lee (VA)

Is Larry Johnson back on track or was it just a 'false hope' game on Sunday?

Christopher Harris
  (3:14 PM)

Hi, Lee. Mm, I think more false hope than anything, and I think it was based on the opponent. Then again, he should have a pretty nice matchup this coming week against a Broncos defense that seems ill-equipped to stop just about anyone. The best news for LJ owners is that Herm Edwards & Co. seems to have listened to their star, and fed him the ball constantly. It's very tough to say, "Oh, definitely, he's going to get touchdowns," because that offense (and that quarterback situation) is ugly. But I think you probably keep starting LJ. Hey, and if he has a big game against Denver? Maybe you can trade him?

TreDay (Little Rock)

Is Kevin Smith done from fantasy releavance this year??? Rudi took over this weekend, plus they are looking at Alexander and Benson, which is never a good sign!

Christopher Harris
  (3:15 PM)

Hi, TreDay. Yeah, there's no question that Smith's value took a hit yesterday. But I don't think he's suddenly worthless. It was one game, and Rod Marinelli says he stuck with Rudi because Rudi got on a roll. I don't think this means Rudi's definitely the starter, and frankly, Smith was a high draft pick...they'd be insane to bench him this quickly, and crush his confidence. I'm still going to have Smith rated higher than Johnson this week, though it's going to be closer than it was last week. At least that's how I'll have it *this* week.....

Hugo (Bear Hair, Neb.)

I've got a deep stable or RBs and am looking to deal one of three guys for a starting WR. How do you rank these three for the rest of the season: Edge, C. Perry and L. McClain?

Christopher Harris
  (3:18 PM)

Hi, Hugo. I haven't officially done my Big Rotowski rankings yet (that article will be out tomorrow noon, and has my rankings at each position for the rest of the season), but taking a swing at it beforehand, I'd say I like them: James, Perry, McClain. I *really* like what I've seen out of McClain, don't get me wrong, but he's at best stuck in a platoon with Willis McGahee, and Ray Rice figures to make an impact again at some point, too. Perry has had very tough match-ups and things should get easier for him this week against Cleveland, but there's still a possibility he gets replaced in some fashion by Kenny Watson. By the same token, I have to believe James would probably bring quite a bit more in a trade, and I wouldn't say I have *huge* preferences between the three guys.....

Will (Richmond)

Anthony Fasano...find or fluke?

Christopher Harris
  (3:20 PM)

Hi, Will. I'm going to take the middle ground on Fasano. I can absolutely see him winding up in that 15 through 20 range among tight ends, and frankly, I won't be *that* surprised if he winds up in the 11 through 15 territory. But does that make him a starter in fantasy leagues? I tend to think not. Listen, with *any* position, you have to not freak out about week-by-week results, but tight end, all the moreso. Kellen Winslow didn't produce anything yesterday, but I wouldn't suddenly make him not a top-4 player at his position. My bottom line: Fasano is interesting, especially with Mr. Dump Off Pennington throwing to him. But I don't have him as a starter.

Santana Moss (washington)

Will I keep catching 7 balls a game?

Christopher Harris
  (3:22 PM)

Moss has been a nice story, and you're right: probably the best news is the *volume*. He's giving us true West-Coast-Offense-style numbers: sure he has a couple long plays, but mostly he's making those 10-yard catches and running with the ball. You have to be careful of Moss's health, because this wouldn't be the first time he started a season strong and then tapered off disappointingly. But I'm a believer in Moss as a viable 90-catch guy in a West Coast offense.

Ben (Chicago)

Chris, Help. LT or Thomas Jones tonight.

Christopher Harris
  (3:24 PM)

Hi, Ben. Wow, that's a really tough one. In a vacuum, I guess it comes down to whether you want to live dangerously. You should at least be able to bench LT if he's inactive, as that list will come out an hour or so before game time. But assuming LT is active, obviously he's got all-world upside that Jones doesn't have. If you need a lot of points in your fantasy game, you have to go LT. But if you need 10 to win? I think I'd go Jones. Obviously safer.

Marc (Toronto, Canada)

Thoughts on Holt and Roy Williams? Are they starting to slow down or buy lows?

Christopher Harris
  (3:26 PM)

Hi, Marc. I don't think Williams is anything close to slowing down: he's still 26 years old. I think with him it's a combination of Jon Kitna really struggling, and Calvin Johnson emerging as a true No. 1 receiver. To my eyes, Holt's 32-year-old legs still look fine; I think the problem with St. Louis (and I have to admit I haven't watched that SEA/STL game yet, but I will tomorrow) is the O-line and Marc Bulger. If one of these guys is a buy-low, though, I think it's Holt, because he's the only game in town. That doesn't mean I think he's headed for a WR1 season; it just means I give him a better chance to be a consistent contributor.

dan(Minn)

I have McNabb and Big Ben who were both banged up a bit. Should I be looking to add a 3rd QB? Best available options are Griese, Orton, Pennington, Collins, etc. Thanks

Christopher Harris
  (3:29 PM)

Hi, Dan. It doesn't sound to me like McNabb's health is a problem at the moment; Andy Reid didn't sound worried about him in his post-game presser, and he did return to the game. Big Ben could be dicier, since it's his hand. If you have to pick up one of those guys, my pick would be Griese (though the Packers make a tough matchup). Still, I'm almost sure I'd tell you to use McNabb over any of those guys unless we get some pretty surprising news in the next couple days.

Louis (San Diego)

I know it was just Detroit, but the Niners are playing a much better brand of football with JT O'Sullivan at the helm. What are their chances at New Orleans next week?

Christopher Harris
  (3:31 PM)

Hi, Louis. You're right: the Niners are playing better. They made Jon Kitna look horrible yesterday, and while I'm not a Kitna guy, he's not someone who usually looks *that* bad, or goes 15-of-30 for 146 yards. That said, the Saints are an offensive machine. I like O'Sullivan's matchup a lot (did you see Jay Cutler crush the Saints secondary yesterday?) next week. He's a borderline starter in an awful lot of leagues. I think the Niners will score (and give up) a fair number of points.

Billy (NYC)

Santanio Holmes was high on a lot of preseason lists...does he break out sooner than later?

Christopher Harris
  (3:33 PM)

Hi, Billy. Well, yeah, I still think so. Neither Holmes nor Ward were worth much this week, as the Eagles just blew the Steelers away with quarterback pressure. If I'm choosing between the two, I'm still choosing Holmes, but boy, they need Roethlisberger to be healthy. It's a tough matchup against that resurgent Ravens D next week, but if Big Ben plays, I'm sure I'll recommend you go ahead and run Holmes right back out there again.

Jackson (Boise, Idaho)

Can Reggie Bush keep this pace up? I'm in a PPR league, but should I trade him before the Saints ride him into the dirt by week 6? I also have Gore, Run DMC and McGahee.

Christopher Harris
  (3:35 PM)

Hi, Jackson. In a PPR league, Bush is doing exactly what he was projected to do: dominate. Now, does his heavy workload potentially make him an injury risk? You're right, it does. But I think it would be cutting off your nose to spite your face to deal a guy for whom the format is *perfect* because he's playing *too* much and *too* well. I say ride him.

Jim (Detroit, MI)

Does Randy Moss seem more like a WR2 to you now? Would you play Fitzgerald and Marshall ahead of him?

Christopher Harris
  (3:36 PM)

Hi, Jim. This week, I had Moss as a borderline WR1, and clearly he's on bye next week, so he won't be ranked at all. A lot can happen in a week, so I can't say definitively that he's not a WR1 any longer, but if I have Marshall and Fitzgerald, yeah, I think you need to play them over Moss. By the way: nice receivers.

Cosmo (Anytown, USA)

Did you see DeSean Jackson run out of bounds when the Eagles were trying to run out the clock? I am trying to come up with a list of 13 other stupid things that he will do for the remaining games. Any ideas?

Christopher Harris
  (3:38 PM)

Let's see -- he could accidentally leave his chewing gum on the ball, whereupon McNabb will attempt to throw but have the ball stick to his palm. Or, um, maybe he could "accidentally" get the Eagles' playbook tattooed on his neck and arms.

Lee (NY)

Um, time to panick on Calvin Johnson and Braylon?...rumors of QB changes for both teams worry me...

Christopher Harris
  (3:40 PM)

Hi, Lee. Well, it seems clear that Edwards owners are feeling a lot more panicky than Johnson owners are. I still have hope that the Bengals *and* Browns will wake up offensively next week, so I think I'm giving Edwards one more chance. If he can't get it done, though, it'll be time for serious reevaluation. Johnson I don't worry about, except you're right, it would be bad for his value if Kitna can't go (or the Lions don't want him to). Not bad enough not to use him, at least at first, but not positive. (By the way, I don't think a switch to Quinn really drops Edwards that much more than he's already dropped...)

Dave (Chicago)

Chris need some last minute help...I'm two points down and my opponent has Cotchery left....I can either start Coles or Chambers....which one would you go with to? Thanks.

Christopher Harris
  (3:43 PM)

Hi, Dave. I think I'd go with Chambers. I really like how Philip Rivers has looked, and I think he'll get some work done against the Jets tonight. Plus, it becomes protection in case Cotchery goes off -- because if he does, you *know* you're probably cooked if you start Coles, know what I mean?

AA (Jersey City)

Should I pick up Brandon Lloyd? 2 Solid games now and he's still available.

Christopher Harris
  (3:44 PM)

Hi, AA. I like picking up Lloyd. You're right, he's produced, and if you have kind of a "hanger-on" non-producer on your roster, why not swap him for a guy who's actually done a little something. I think it'd be mighty hard to start him just now, unless you're in a super-deep league, but who knows -- a few weeks down the road, maybe we won't feel that way any more.....

Christopher Harris
  (3:45 PM)

Jeff (Dallas)

Worried Westbrook owner here... how long will he be out? Also, I'm thinking about moving Rodgers for some RB help and relying on Hasselbeck after the bye... what sort of RB value should Rodgers bring back for me?

Christopher Harris
  (3:49 PM)

Hi, Jeff. Apparently his MRI didn't show anything too bad: he's "day-to-day" with an ankle strain. That's good news, though I don't hate picking up Correll Buckhalter as a security blanket, even if it's only for this week. As for Rodgers -- as I've said a few times on TV and on the web site, I think he's just about the most over-valued player in fantasy right now. Not that he's bad, not at all, but I do think he's going to wind up being something of a "typical" West Coast quarterback: he'll win games, but not post massive stats. That said, I wouldn't just give him away. If I couldn't get a high-upside starter at RB (someone, say, in the top 15?), I might just wait until my potential audience got really desperate for a QB....

Eric (Fort Collins CO)

Hey Chris, whats your take on Willie Parker and Ronnie Brown? Good sell high candidates. Karabell and Berry both say they'd rather have the likes of Michael Turner over Ronnie Brown.

Christopher Harris
  (3:52 PM)

Hi, Eric. The Parker thing was so predictable, and it's funny, because every week Tristan Cockcroft writes a column where he calls out the "outliers" in our weekly rankings, and I was called out for being the only guy who didn't have FWP as a RB1 this week. With Parker, I really think it's about matchup: he will usually have a very tough time with very good rush defenses, including this week against Baltimore. As for Brown -- yeah, I haven't done my Big Rotowski ranks yet (those will be up on the site tomorrow), but I'd imagine I'll have Turner higher than Brown still. But that's kind of damning with faint praise: I don't judge Turner to be a top-15 back unless he's playing those crummy defenses he's racked up big yardage on. So your question is are these guys sell-highs: if someone is ready to give you a huge payday for Brown's five TDs (which have already happened, obviously), you should do it. But would I trade Brown for Turner straight up? Feh. Seems like a lateral move to me.

Bobby Engram & Deion Branch

We are debating, who is the better pick-up?

Christopher Harris
  (3:54 PM)

I have to admit that I haven't seen Deion Branch run, until I do, this is just speculation. Branch's game is his legs, and if his knee is right and can run fast, he'll be worth more. But after ACL surgery, Branch may be more likely to be half-a-step slower, and if he is, Engram's worth more. So whom would I pick up right now? If I was looking for a consistent contributor who I might be able to use week-to-week, I'd go Engram. If I was looking to potentially hit a homer, but also potentially get nothing for my investment, I'd go Branch.

Matt (WDC)

Which two would you rather have for the rest of the season..S. jackson, Ronnie Brown or Steve Slaton??

Christopher Harris
  (3:57 PM)

Hi, Matt. I have to still say Jackson. I know it's darn frustrating, and it's tough to see any break in the clouds for the Rams. But he's just got such a track record. I have to believe that at some point, if only by accident, Jackson gets himself straightened out and produces. I can't bring myself to bail on one of the sport's trust studs, who's uninjured, unless he posts a few more true stinkers. As for between Brown and Slaton -- I think I'd take Brown. I liked how Slaton looked in his first start (and so did the Texans) against a very tough run defense. And Brown clearly isn't going to play QB quite so much going forward. But he's showing he's healthy, and as we've always said: if he shows he's healthy, his value does increase.

Brian (Windsor Ct)

Hey Chris, these chats really have soem good stuff. Was wondering if you can help me with my D this week. Seatle is on bye and there is arizon, washington, and carolina available. Who sounds the best?

Christopher Harris
  (3:59 PM)

Hi, Brian. Thanks, man. It's pretty easy for me to rank Washington third among that group, because they go against the Dallas dynamo next week. If I'm picking between the Panthers and Cardinals -- I think maybe I'd go Arizona. They're the No. 5 fantasy defense in the NFL through three weeks, and while that's a pretty ambitious number that's buoyed by their two ugly first opponents, the Jets aren't *that* scary to me. I also don't hate the Panthers matching up against Matt Ryan. Hm. Yeah, I think I'd say Arizona by a whisker.

Christopher Harris
  (3:59 PM)

All right everyone, I'm going to do one more, and then I'm going to get out of the way and let the rest of the Monday Night Football chatting get underway......

Jesse (Evanston, IL)

Hey Chris, I'm in a beautiful dilemma. I have Anquan Boldin, Plaxico Burress, Brandon Marshall, and T.O. as receivers, but I'm thin on RBs. Obviously with Plax on a bye I'm not taking any action this week, but who's the best option to trade away?

Christopher Harris
  (4:01 PM)

Hi, Jesse. That *is* an awfully nice problem to have. It's hard not to be enamored of all those guys, but I'd put T.O. and Marshall in a different class right now. If I'm choosing between Burress and Boldin, well, I guess I'd probably say deal Boldin, but for me it's pretty darned close (the fact that Fitzgerald is the primary guy in Arizona probably seals the deal for me), and if your potential trade partner would give you *more* if it was Burress instead, I'd do that.....

Christopher Harris
  (4:01 PM)

All right, everyone. Thanks very much for coming, and stay tuned for hours and hours of more excellent Monday Night Football chatting....see you next week!

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:01 PM)

I think week 3 was a real eye-opener for us, because it showed us for the first time who the pretenders and contenders are. That tends to happen in week 3, because we now get each team's true identity. I think we have a good sense of who is real, moving ahead.

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:02 PM)

I think the most surprising thing would be that we have some teams who we thought were really good who are now 0-3. It's very difficult to climb out of that hole and get to the playoffs.

Corey (California)

What do you think the Packers need to compete against teams like the Cowboys. What are they missing?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:04 PM)

I think the Cowboys have so many weapons, it's difficult to shut them all down. Green Bay took TO out of the game, but Jason Whiten and the other guys had good nights. I think Green Bay needs to establish a better run game, even though they love those spread formations and empty backfield sets. But I think the threat of the run will force defenses to play more honest. I still think the Packers are a good team, they just happened to face a juggernaut in Dallas.

Jarric (Kansas)

Chiefs have the worst team in the league! Have you seen any (I'd be happy with one!) signs of improvement or anything positive at all? What can they do to right the ship?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:06 PM)

There are two really bad teams right now: KC and St. Louis, both in the same state. I know they are using the excuse that they are very young, and that patience is the key, but that excuse will only last for so long. They just don't seem to be a real physical team with the power run game that could be their strength. I just don't see a real identity yet.

Tyler (Plainfield, IN)

What are the Bengals doing wrong? Is the pass protection the difference between what they are now and a playoff team?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:08 PM)

Pass protection is certainly a problem. Carson Palmer is getting hit a lot. Their receivers just don't have time to seperate. Another big problem is that they have been at their best where they have a quality three-wide set. They don't have that third guy right now. They've got Housmandzadeh and Chad Johnson, and they just can't spread the field and dictate matchups. Also, they are not a very mentally disciplined team right now. They have penalties, clock management problems, and mental lapses like twelve men on the field. They just seem to stop themselves too much.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Titans- with this D and efficient QB play- can they be a playoff contender?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:10 PM)

No question about it. Their formula for success is to play great D, run the football, control the clock, and have a QB that does not make game-changing mistakes. They have all of that now. They have a very physical, mentally tough team, and when you have that, you have a good chance to win a lot of games.

Juan (DC)

Seeing as how the Redskins have been playing real good as far as consistency goes and the defense stepping up too, what else do you think Washington needs to step up their game to the level that Dallas is playing?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:11 PM)

I don't think they're on Dallas' level right now, but I will say this: they have been very efficient in the first three games. One of the reasons they are getting better is that they don't turn the ball over and put themselves in bad spots. Their version of the West Coast offense is starting to take hold. The thing I would like to see from them is more consistency, because right now, they look like a team that can play well one week and so-so the next. That may just be adjusting to a new coach, but I think they are a little closer to being the real deal than I certainly thought they were after the first game.

David (Houston, TX)

The New York Giants still have toe confidance and swagger that makes a great team, on top of being the defending champs, how are they not the team to beat still?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:14 PM)

If we're totally fair, they probably are until somebody knocks them off. It's been a very strange summer. Favre stole all the NY headlines when he came to the Jets, and the Cowboys got a lot of publicity for filming 'Hard Knocks'. All of a sudden, it seems like the Giants are flying under the radar, which is how they like it, to be honest. I don't see any dropoff from a year ago, especially on defense. I think the only thing that can hold them back is the fact that they do not have great depth, especially on the defensive line. They cannot afford a lot of injuries.

Cosmo (Anytown, USA)

Hines Ward made the comment that the Steelers were confused by the Eagles blitzes. Do you think he was talking about Ben, the offensive line or both?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:16 PM)

I think he was talking mostly about the O-line. In this game, Philadelphia came to the Steelers with an all-out approach. They gambled putting their corners on an island in coverage, and when you confuse the offensive line and get in a QB's space early, it confuses him too, because he has no time to read his progressions. Big Ben probably had a lot of hot reads because of those blitzes, but he never got a chance to go to them.

Nuclear Power Pants (Orlando)

What do we take away from the Dolphin game yesterday? Do you see the Wildcat package become part of the regular gameplan?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:17 PM)

I doubt it, because now that teams have seen it, they will be ready for it. They were great yesterday because it was new, but you can bet that defensive coordinators will now spend some practice time preparing for it. I broke those plays down on film today, and it was obvious that New England had never seen it and wasn't ready for it.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Peyton Manning- rusty, or starting to fall off?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:20 PM)

I looked at a lot of film on the Colts last week, and ironically, I think it revolves around the run game. This is a team that loves to run the stretch play, and either had no help outside, or let Peyton tuck the ball and control a play action pass, and it puts a lot of pressure on defensive reads. Early this year, because of Peyton's knee, they have replaced the stress play with a toss sweep which has no element of surprise. Defenses can easily react to it. However, the Colts read the ball better yesterday, and I think we will start seeing more of the stress action. That will give Peyton much more stability. And in answer to your question, he is rusty. He hasn't lost it yet.

Frank (West Palm, Florida)

Will the Jets have a real chance against the Chargers tonight, or do you think we will be looking at a blowout!

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:22 PM)

I don't think it's a blowout, because the Jets are a good football team. I've watched the Chargers a lot, and I honestly can't tell you who they are. They have excellent players, but something is missing, and they just don't seem to be real explosive. They are not playing like an elite team. I think if the Jets come out tonight and open up their passing game, and let Favre be Favre, they have a real chance to make this one close. If they come out with their conservative Pennington offense, it plays right into the Chargers' hands. San Diego should win this game, but they also should have won their first two.

Brett Orem, UT

Do you see Denver making the playoffs this year (maybe even the Superbowl)?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:24 PM)

They sure look like a good team right now, especially on offense. I'm not sure I trust their defense, but they may have enough offensive firepower to outscore teams. We see how weak Kansas City is, and even SD is off to a bad start, so that AFC West division looks a lot more winnable than it did a month ago. Cutler is the real deal, and he has a lot of weapons in the passing game. It translates into him continuing to score a lot of points on offense.

Cards D ( Somewhere on the East Coast)

What happend to Arizonas D yesterday? Will that lousy D be back next week for the Jets or will they play like they did the first two games?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:25 PM)

They're a little bit of a feast or famine defense. They take a lot of chances, are unorthodox, can create some big plays or turnovers, but can also give up some big plays if you catch them out of position. It depends on what Jets offense we see. If they open it up tonight and have success, then we may see them struggle against a gunslinging Favre, but if they stay conservative, Arizona will be fine.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Rank these 3-0 AFC teams: Tennessee, Denver, Buffalo....

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:27 PM)

I think Tennessee is the best right now, because they really know who they are, and they never deviate from that. You're gonna have to beat them to come away with a win, because they don't beat themselves and are very physical. They won't get in a lot of shootouts. Nobody likes to play them because they are so physical and tough. I think that the players really buy in to that image, which gives them resilience and confidence. Again, they are in a division where Indy and Jacksonville don't look as elite as we would have thought a month ago.

Brian, Nj

How bout the niners chances this week? Do you think Willis and Co. will stop the saints enough to pull out an upset?

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:29 PM)

I really like the 49ers right now. Martz appears to be headed toward a redemption. Frank Gore looks like Marshall Faulk, O'Sullivan looks like Kurt Warner, and we know they have an excellent young defense. They have enough explosiveness on both sides of the ball to stay in most games. Even though NO lost, I really like how they are playing on offense, and spreading the ball around. I think it will be difficult for SF to go in there and beat Drew Brees. But I don't think the 49ers are a team that will be blown out any longer.

Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton
  (4:31 PM)

I don't know if I've ever seen a season that is this wide-open this early. We seem to have a changing of the guard, where several teams once thought elite may be heading to the playoffs. But what's fascinating is, we don't know who is going to replace them. This may be the best example of parity in the NFL that we have ever seen. That at least makes it an interesting season, week-in and week-out, for a lot of teams.

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:02 PM)

WOW, What a great weekend of football. There are some clubs that are in real trouble, but it's still early- Let's see what's going on this afternoon-------

Jim (Detroit)

We have the worst team, GM and owner in the league. When will the nightmare end?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:05 PM)

Jim, It won't get any easier for the Lions as the season is just starting to heat up. It wasn't a good sign when they got hammered in their opener. Let's see if ownership will stay patient with this group running the show-

Charles

So i guess my question is "If the Cowboys get rid of their penalties, turnovers and the Defense actually starts getting the turnovers they are capable of.. I personally don't think there is a team that will beat them

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:06 PM)

Charles, There is no question that the Boys are very talented but the way this league is , "any given Sunday" !!!!!

Josh (UP Michigan)

If the Chargers lose tonight how difficult will it be for them to make the playoffs, will the Broncos take the division, and how likely are the Colts to rebound after the bye week?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:08 PM)

Josh, The Chargers have their backs against the wall and need to win tonight . A loss doesn't mean they can't go but it would be more likely as a wild card team than the divisional winner.

Homer (Chicago)

Ken, the Bronco's last two wins have been very close shootouts against two struggling with injuries. Are people jumping on the Bronco bandwagon a bit prematurely?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:10 PM)

Homer, The Broncos are talented on offense but they can't keep winning these shoot outs and still go far in the post season. If your a Denver fan you have to have mixed feelings but 3-0 is as good as you can get (no matter how you got there)....

JOELB

Let's not forget how SD started slow last season and almost went all the way

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:12 PM)

Joelb, Yes that's true but putting yourself in a big hole with Denver having a leg up on you is not where the Chargers want to be. It would appear a tougher task to dig out of a big hole in 2008.

Brian (Pitsford)

Is it time to give Brady Quinn a shot in Cleveland?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:13 PM)

Brian, There is more wrong up in Cleveland than their QB play. They are clealry under achieving or are all those off season moves (tons of money) not looking so smart ??

Adam (Florida)

Ken, how do you predict the WRs below will do in the coming weeks? Randy Moss without Tom Brady, Chad Johnson with a struggling Bengals team, and Terrell Owens with a 'gunslinger.'

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:16 PM)

Adam, T.O isn't the best of the bunch but he may be the most productive considering Romo will make a concerted effort to get him the ball, and the talent (Witten and others ) around him will force teams out of double teaming T.O. the whole game. Moss is awsome but can they get him the ball and the Bengals are super inconsistent. Go withT.O.

Will J (Portland, OR)

Ken, am I the only one who thinks Jacobs isn't a feature back? I think he's more suited for goalline and short yardage. I think they should give Bradshaw more carries. Didn't he show his worth in the SB last year, and the pre-season?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:19 PM)

Will, In this league having two capable backs is the way to go. I didn't think Jacobs was a featured back either but He may be proving me wrong. He has developed his running skills over the past few seasons as he was more one dimensional coming out of college.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

Other than the occasional good season will the Bengals ever be consistent winners with Mike Brown the owner?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:23 PM)

Mike, Mike Brown is a good man but they clearly need to rethink their approach to how they build an NFL roster . I do think they can win but changing philosophy would be a good start--

Mike (Iowa)

Thoughts on the touches split tonight for LT and Sproles? Is it 50/50 if LT is a go?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:23 PM)

Mike, If L.T. is good to go he'll get two thirds of the carries.

dave (nj)

ken,i own deangelo williams is he worth playing next week i also have joseph addai who is on a bye my other choices are pittman and hightower

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:25 PM)

Dave, I would stick with Williams against an inconsistent Falcon defense.

Josh (NYC)

Ken how does the Jets and Qb Brett Favre go about beating the Chargers and LT? Can they pull off a huge win tonight?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:27 PM)

Josh, They can pull it off but I don't see it being likely. The Chargers are the most talent no win team in the league right now and they get a victory tonight.

Marc (Chicago)

Jax RBs had a great day. Are their O line problems fixed? Or was the Indy D that bad at stopping the run?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:29 PM)

Marc, Every one should know that Indy is a different Defense with and without BOb Sanders. He's the "HIT MAN" on the Colts defense and without him they are somewhat average.

Jimmy (Dyersburg, TN)

Going into the season Tennessee was projected to win 8 games. How much better are they now than they were projected to be?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:31 PM)

Jimmy, It's a long season but if they stay healthy they win the division. If they loose a key player (Haynesworth or Collins) they would fight for a wild card spot.

Brady Quinn (Cleveland)

When Do I take over for Anderson, obviously the guy is a loser?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:32 PM)

Brady, Wait your turn I just gave DA a ton on money. I have to let him really play poorly before I go to you. By the way there are plenty of other problems besides just the QB play.

Max (MD)

How soon until Jonathan Stewart gets to be the feature back? Or will we have another Julius Jones/Marion Barber Situation?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:34 PM)

Max, Stewart is very good but it's always a great situation when you have two capable backs with different running styles. Stewart will get his touches.

Gary (Greensboro, NC)

Hey Ken, I appreciate the analysis you provide us in these chats. Do you think Welker is still a 1,000 yard WR in that Patriots offense? I'm starting to see the Welker i saw in Miami more than the Welker i saw last year.

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:36 PM)

Gary, That didn't look good this past Sunday and for the Pat's to win a bunch of games the QB play has to make marked improvement. Welker is a good football player but the Patriots have to be hitting on all cylinders for him to excell.

Jim Zorn (DC)

Hey Ken, How well is my team going to do this year? Do you think we have a shot at the WC?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:38 PM)

Jim, Don't get too over confident. Winning two at home verse teams that have question marks doesn't get you much. win a couple of road games and a couple of divisional games and I'll be a believer.

Will J (Portland, OR)

Ken, do you see next weeks Pittsburgh/Baltimore game being much like the defensive dominated game the Steelers & Eagles just played?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:39 PM)

Will , I do see it playing out that way especially if Westbrook is out . Take the under !!

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:40 PM)

Fella's My bad Westbrook isn't going against the Steelers but I would still take the UNDER vs. the Ravens

Brian

Should we go ahead and plan the parade route here in Dallas?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:41 PM)

Brian, WOW, haven't you learned your lesson. Often times the most talented club doesn't win the ring. Long season and anything can happen but the BOYS are extremely talented.

Jon (Madisonville, KY)

The Titans are off to a good start. Will it last and do you think they are a playoff team with Vince Young healthy?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:43 PM)

Jon, There is a bunch of talk about Vince and how good he really is. Young is a great athlete but not an excellent NFL QB yet. He needs to get his mind right first and continue to develope and the Titans can win with him.

Pete (Philadelphia)

Ken, Brian Westbrook is Day to Day, if he isn't ready for Sundays game vrs Washington can the Eagles beat the Redskins? Just how much does Westbrook mean to the Eagles

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:45 PM)

Pete, They don't play (Skins and Eagles) for 13 days and he should be ready by than. Westbrook is 40% of the Philly offense and they are a differnent club without him.

John (Dallas)

Gotta love Marion Barber. Is there anyone in the league you would trade him straight up for right now? If so, who?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:46 PM)

John, NOOOOOOOOO!

ray gordon reid richmond va 23219

QUESTION TO KEN MOLL AT 5.45 PM HI KEN CHARGERS OR JETS

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:46 PM)

Ray, Lived in Richmond for ten years, great town. Chargers !!!

MM (Houston)

Ken, this is MNF marathon, right? Then how about a MNF question. What should we expect from Rivers and the Bolts bevy of receivers?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:48 PM)

MM, If the O-line can protect Rivers I think he can have a big night, with lots of ball in the air. The Jets defense will stack the LOS to stop the run and the Chargers have lots more talent with thier air assualt (lots of options for Rivers)--

Greg(Chattanooga)

Who is the better team right now Titans or Broncos?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:50 PM)

Greg, Wouldn't that be an interesting match up!! I would always go with the better defense but I'd pay to ss that one .

Carlos (La,CA)

Ken, With New Orleans loosing players like Colston and Shockey. Also the niners have the #1 pass D in the NFC. Which should help them against the Saints. Can the niners do enough to get the win.

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:52 PM)

Carlos, Before the season started I would have said that the Saints would be heavy favorites but this should be a close contest. I'd still say the Saints have more talent and win the game.

SprungOnSports (Long Island)

Will the San Diego defense be able to step up and do something positive unlike last week?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:54 PM)

Long Island, I see them playing well at home verse a somewhat average Jets offense. Remember the Broncos is the second most explosive offense in the league. The "D" Plays better tonight !

Adam (NH)

hey ken, don't you think that this is a Must win monday night football game for both teams. Including the Jets. I mean if they lose they are 2 games behind the Bills

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:55 PM)

Adam, Both clubs have their backs against the wall but I would think the Chargers HAVE to win this one or they almost have no chance to catch a talented Broncos club.

Stacy (NY NY)

Ken was Miami's win over the Patriots a sign of good things to come for Dolphins fans or was that win just the Patriots not redesigning their play book for Cassel?

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:58 PM)

Stacy, It's certainly a good start for the Fins to get a road win verse a club like the Patriots. It was the way they won that surprised me. They physically beat the Pat's up and no has done that over the past several years. I still think the Dolphins have a ways to go.

ESPN Insider (4 years)

Never got a question posted. How about some love? Am I crazy to consider playing LT and Sproles? I also have T Jones and I need 20 points. Thanks!

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (5:59 PM)

ESPN Insider- If L.T. is healthy he's the play but I haven't answered many of those questions because his status is still up in the air.

Scouts Inc.'s Ken Moll
  (6:00 PM)

Looking forward to a great MNF contest, Talk to you next week.

Buzzmaster
  (6:10 PM)

Bill is on his way. Our fault, not his. So stay tuned!

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:11 PM)

You know that scene from Spinal Tap where the band gets lost backstage and keeps going in the wrong doors? That was me for about 10 minutes. Sorry about that -- let's get back to discussing all things NFL.

Mark - Eugene, OR

I have Holt, Roy Williams, and Ryan Grant....and yes my team sucks..I am 0-3 and need help! Should I try to trade any of those guys or a combination of them? Can I get much value for them at this point??

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:13 PM)

The first rule of trading in fantasy football is buy low, sell high. You have guys at the absolute nadir of their value who are likely to improve as the year goes along. Hold onto them for now, and when they have a big game, if you want to deal them then, go for it.

Brian(Dallas)

Why are you never critical of coaches? I think Crennel is doing the worst job in coaching since he has the most to work. He play calling is horrible, he is never ready for any kind of injuries and I question the team conditioning due to so many injuries.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:14 PM)

We're certainly critical of coaches. Injuries have been a problem in Cleveland since before Crennel got there and, certainly, their bacterial issues are astounding and out of Crennel's hands. In general, when a coach goes from being on the hot seat to getting a contract extension to back on the hot seat within 12 months, you're focusing on the wrong guy.

Libster(CT)

Should the Patriots look into Daunte Culpepper? It's worth a try I believe.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:16 PM)

Eh. He doesn't know their offensive scheme, and it's not as if he was setting the world on fire in Oakland. There's no one out there who's going to be a significant improvement on Cassel, and he has the benefit of already knowing the system.

oily

Does Favre look tired, or old, and do you think he will make it through the season?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:18 PM)

The guy hasn't missed a game since 1992. Sure, he could suffer a traumatic injury, but he keeps himself out of trouble in the pocket and has a good line in front of him. He should be fine.

Bob

Question about tonight's game. If I need 15-20 points tonight to win, who do I start at flex, Jerricho Cotchery or Thomas Jones?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:19 PM)

Jones has a better shot of scoring, which is what you're looking for.

anaheim,Ca

i think the chargers shoul've been 2-0 if it was not for the so called officials. those officials could not have officiated a little kids football game. shame on the refs.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:20 PM)

If the Chargers' scheme involves covering Donte Rosario with the umpire, well, they might want to change it up a bit.

Benjamin Plattsburgh

Isn't Eli Manning Amazing? and this has nothing to do with his stats, but his ability to counter punch. When the opposing team scores and takes the momentum, eli steals it right back with a td drive. You can never consider the giants out of a game with eli. With cutler, burger, rivers, all the other young qbs their stats and skills sets may be a bit better than eli, but his counter punch ability sets him apart in my mind.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:23 PM)

Interesting theory. I don't know if Eli's actually better or worse at that than any other quarterback, but something to look at for the future.

Steve(Ma)

You see CHRIS JOHNSON or L. WHITE more fantasy relevant going foward? Ty

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:23 PM)

Johnson. With a quarterback who doesn't overthrow him on the swing patterns he loves, Johnson could be a Reggie Bush clone. All he needs now is a Kardashian to date.

Steve (ND)

P Manning has a bye, Bulger is my fill-in, Griese & Collins are on the wire. Thoughts? Thanks.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:25 PM)

Collins against Minnesota is a pretty good matchup. Griese against Green Bay isn't, even if Al Harris is out.

Donny (Houston)

Houston we have a problem....what do you think needs to happen for Houston to have a winning season? New coach,Gm,Players...What?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:25 PM)

Patience. That's a young defense gelling together, and as you can see by Buffalo's performance this year, those guys can take a big step forward at once. Getting another weapon across from Andre Johnson would be nice, too.

Jeff..Tempe Arizona

Is Kurt Warner good for the whole season, or should I try to trade him while his value is up?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:27 PM)

Warner had a great second half of the year last year. The biggest concern with him is health and opportunity -- if Whisenhunt decides that Matt Leinart is suitably chastened and can play football again, well, you're out of luck. As long as Warner's in the lineup, he's a top-ten fantasy quarterback without question.

Pete (Philadelphia)

Bill, they list Brian Westbrook as day to day but do they know if he will be healthy for Sunday's game vrs the Bears? Can the Eagles beat the Bears is Westbrook isn't healthy?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:28 PM)

It's a minor ankle injury. The Eagles are great at getting their players to play -- no team is more likely to see a player on their injury report make it into the lineup than Philly. Westbrook will likely get 20% fewer touches, but he'll be just as valuable.

SprungOnSports (Long Island)

What was with Greise throwing it nearly 70 times on Sunday, and how big of a win was that for Tampa?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:29 PM)

Earnest Graham: Nine carries for three yards. That's why Griese threw it nearly 70 times. Huge win for the Bucs without Galloway. If they go to 1-2 and Carolina hits 3-0, season might be over. Instead, they're tied.

Frank in Dallas

Do you expect Schottenhiemer to open up the playbook tonight, given the criticism of last week?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:31 PM)

Not really. The playbook's limited by what Favre's learned in the eight weeks or so he's been a Jet -- remember that Favre hasn't had to learn a new offense on the fly in 16 years, and he had to learn it after the offense had already been installed in the offseason.

joe scranton pa

can philly make it to super bowl over dallas

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:31 PM)

Absolutely. They'll need to tackle better and improve their special teams coverage, but as good as Dallas is, Philly is right up there.

Adrian (Miami)

Bill, how do you see the AFC East shaping up right now? I get the feeling the bills will take it, maybe with the other teams looking for a wildcard, but i doubt it will come from the east.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:32 PM)

I still think the Patriots take it. It's only been one week.

Steve (NY)

Hey I have a big question here...LT or Darren Sproles tonight?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:33 PM)

Tomlinson. Neither's a great start, but Tomlinson's simply more likely to see the rock. 0-2 and Monday night? His toe's not holding him back, at least for a half.

joe scranton pa

do you think tonights game will be high scoring

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:34 PM)

Not as high scoring as last week!

Mark (Pennsylvania)

Do you think that the Broncos can go deep into the playoffs?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:34 PM)

Cutler gives them a chance to win any game they play, but their defense is going to have to improve.

Bryan (Bean)

I need 40 points from Sproles tonight, what are my odds?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:35 PM)

A lot:1.

Pete-NorCal

Do Chargers have great chance of going 7-2 if they pull off win tonight? Bills were a little exposed last night. Big Ben should be well by the time we play them..

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:36 PM)

I think Chargers fans shouldn't be concerned -- they've lost two games by infitessimal margins. 7-2 might be pushing it, but 6-3 seems pretty reasonable.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

What do you think has been wrong with Cromartie? He has not played up the level we come to expect from him.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:37 PM)

I think he got a little overhyped last year because of his interceptions -- simply put, he's not going to get 10 picks a year.

Buck (Long Beach)

Is Sproles and LT a crazy play over LT and Thomas Jones?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:38 PM)

I think so. Why bench Thomas Jones? He's going to get more carries than either guy, I bet.

Dan (PA)

I played with Leigh Bodden (CB - Detroit) in college and haven't seen him on the field much for my Lions. Any story there?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:39 PM)

That's a weird one. Bodden's a talented guy, but he's always beset by injuries. The Browns also traded him this offseason when he asked for a contract extension, even though they were light at corner. Then again, Detroit is a black hole.

JJ Smooth (The City by the Bay)

Would you trade jennings for brees if my other wr are owens, holmes, v.jackson, and royal? Current QB are Schaub and O'sullivan.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:39 PM)

Depends on your scoring system.

Bryan (Bean)

How do you feel about Rodney Harrison calling someone a "dirty" player?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:40 PM)

If he means literally dirty, like the guy was covered in sod after rolling around for a while, I think his glass house stays up. Otherwise...

Erina (Atlanta, GA)

Are the Falcons as good as they have looked so far, or is it the lack of good opponents? What should be my expectations for the rest of the year?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:41 PM)

They've gotten to play Detroit and Kansas City so far this year. That goes a long, long way in making a team look good. Let's see how they do after the next four weeks or so.

Stacy (NY NY)

Bill do you think the Patriots will let Cassel go at the end of the Season via free agency if the Patriots miss the playoffs or they don't go far in the playoffs? Or is it to early to tell?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:42 PM)

I don't think the Patriots value Cassel so highly as to resign him to anything more than a very small, short-term contract. Their long-term backup for Brady is Kevin O'Connell.

M. Millen (Indiana)

When will the bleeding STOP in Detroit? The FORDS need to go as well!!!!

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:43 PM)

Well, they own the team, so unless you get them to pull a Mike Ashley...good luck.

Dan (PA)

Is Calvin Johnson good enough to produce even with a QB controversy in Detroit?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:44 PM)

What's the QB controversy? If anyone really thinks Jon Kitna is the problem with the Lions...that's just silly.

Pete-NorCal

How soon before Cutler and Broncos "O" gets exposed? I think Bronco bandwagon is starting to take shape only 3 games into the season. They lack a solid running game so far, at this rate Cutler's arm will fall off 12 games into the season.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:45 PM)

Being a quarterback isn't like being a pitcher -- there's no relationship between dropbacks and injury rate.

Chris--MIA

What do you think about Chad Henne?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:46 PM)

I think that no one knows yet. My impression upon actually meeting the guy? "Wow. I'm taller than you."

andrew, new york

being a huge dolphins fan, i really like ronnie brown and think he can easily be a top 5 running back in this league when on the field. what are your thoughts?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:48 PM)

A healthy Ronnie Brown on the Vikings would win NFL MVP.

Tommy (Flint MI)

My opponent has higher waiver order on me and he has Westbrook, thinking that he picks up Buckhalter; should I pick up Booker? Or is it pointless to do it considering its just this week and he might not have much value going forward.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:48 PM)

I wouldn't waste your waiver priority for one week.

Ryan (CT)

Would you say that Asante Samuel is the best all around cornerback in the game today? The man is batting down passes with his back towards the play like he has eyes in the back of his head. And nobody jumps the route like he does.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:49 PM)

Nnamdi Asomugha. Samuel's good, but it's not even close. Watch a Raiders game and notice how many times they mention Asomugha's name. The answer is likely once -- when they introduce the defense -- and it's because no one throws at him.

Dan (PA)

What's your feeling on Big Ben this season? I know he always deals with injuries...but I (and I think most on this site) were expecting big things this season.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:50 PM)

His protection failed him yesterday. Better protection and Ben can do just about anything back there.

Will J (Portland, OR)

Who's been the biggest surprise so far this year? Who's been the biggest disappointment?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:51 PM)

As far as players go, biggest surprise has been Brandon Marshall. He looks like the best wide receiver in the league. Disappointment is Chad Johnson, who looks like he could care less.

Minger (Los Angeles)

BARN BURNER! I'm down by two pts and I have Cotchery and Favre. My opponent has thomas jones. (TD passes are 4 pts, receiving/running is 6 pts). Who wins??

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:51 PM)

The team that scores more points. Heyo!

Will J (Portland, OR)

Bill, that doesn't mean Nnamdi is the best, teams generally don't have to throw, because they're usually well ahead of the Raiders.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:53 PM)

True, but even when you apportion it out by percentage of a team's throws in his direction, Asomugha was 78th amongst all corners as far as targets.

Dan (PA)

What's your take on the New England RB situation? I thought with Brady out we may finally see a RB get 20 carries a game. It's actually looked WORSE without him. I have Maroney and Morris and want to send both packing...but probably can't find better options.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:54 PM)

It's a weird situation there. They need to run the ball more to create space for Cassel, but it's hard to figure out why they won't. Hubris?

James (Chattanooga) TN

How do you feel about the Vikings chances next week when they go into LP Field to face the 3-0 Titans?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:55 PM)

If Albert Haynesworth is on the field, Titans win. If Albert Haynesworth is off the field, Titans lose.

Ryan Danz

what you think about the eagles performance yesterday?

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:56 PM)

If that defense had shown up last week, they'd be 3-0 and the talk of the NFL right now. Granted, the Cowboys' offense is superior to Pittsburgh's, but they tackled significantly better and were way more focused.

Will J (Portland, OR)

Do you think Jacobs should be the Giants feature back? And why don't they get Bradshaw in their offense more, the kid has tons of speed, and he has shown he can make big plays (SB XLII).

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:56 PM)

Because he's not a big guy, and overworking him opens up the distinct possibility of injuring him. I think the Giants' rushing attack is just fine right now.

Greg Indianapolis, IN

When is the NFL going to start looking at the refs and hold them accountable for making jugdement calls during the games. I know the Colts lost for more than just that bad call at the end of the game but at the same time it took the ref 30sec. to pull the flag out after the play. And both players ran into eachother. Come on!!! If you wanted the Jags to win do make it so noticeable.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:58 PM)

I'm not sure what "hold them accountable" means. Do you want them fired? Drawn and quartered? Refereeing is a thankless job and the NFL's guys are, honestly, pretty good.

GEORGIO

I GOT ONE WILL THE PATS SEASON DROP LIKE THE DOW JONES INDUSTRIAL AVERAGE

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:59 PM)

I think if the Patriots were 5% worse without Tom Brady than they were with him, they'd take that in a heartbeat.

Football Outsiders Bill Barnwell
  (6:59 PM)

Alright -- thanks everyone, and enjoy tonight's game!

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:00 PM)

OK, MNF !! Big game for both teams.. Who's ready??

Alex, Los Angeles, CA

The Ravens look strong defensively once again, and now they can actually score TD's off the turnovers...How do they match-up against the Steelers next week? Do they have a chance?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:02 PM)

Alex.. They do look good these days.. However Pitt is going to come out with fire in their eyes after yesterday's debacle. Home game for the Steelers - I like home fied advantage in this game, but it should be close.

Frankie

Who wins tonight and why

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:05 PM)

I like the Chargers.. why? because NYJs just had to travel all the way across the country to play this game and I like San Diego's defense better (even without Merriman) assuming Cotrell remembers how to blitz.

Eric

Do you think the Jets will make the playoffs this year with Favre?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:06 PM)

Eric, no - they have too many holes on defense. They can't simply outscore opponents, they need to make some stops.

"Diamond" Joe Quimby (Springfield)

Err-ah...will Brandon Marshall fend off any more suspensions this season? What's your feeling? He's got to be a Top-5 (if not Top-3) wide reciever. VOTE QUIMBY!

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:08 PM)

"Diamond" - too often guys don't change their ways when they are allowed to make bad choices and then return in short order. - in other words, don't hold your breath.

James : (Tampa, FL)

Has any RB ever ran for under 200 yards and scored over 10 TD's for the year? Mike Pittman just might do it this year. I have Selvin Young and am not very happy so far. Thanks.

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:09 PM)

Not sure who, but I would be surprised if it hasn't been done before. Teams have used short yardage backs in the past and often give them the ball on the goal line.

Mike (Upstate NY)

hey Doug, who do you see as the better start looking forward..DeAngelo Williams or Jonathon Stewart?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:10 PM)

I'd stay with Williams this year. His experience is invaluable when it comes to blitz pick up and knowing how to convert short routes when they send their backs out. Stewart has a huge upside but has struggled to stay healthy (when in college) and needs time to learn all the small things about being a back in the NFL

Will J (Portland, OR)

I realize he isn't Brady, but why doesn't Cassel throw the ball down field more often to Randy? Brady was the typical game manager (Big Ben, Hasslebeck) most of his career, it was only until Moss got there that Brady's numbers flew off the charts.

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:11 PM)

Two reasons. 1) he does not have Brady's arm or accuracy and 2) he is not as quick to read coveages and to know what Moss is going to do on each route depending on what he sees as a coverage.

Mick (CT)

Sproles or Jones tonight?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:12 PM)

Sproles.. He won't be facing as stout a run defense.

Ryan (Detroit Michigan)

When will Matt Millen get fired? Everyone here is getting very sick of this situation!!!!

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:13 PM)

Good question.. Ask the Fords. Really, I have the same questions about his ability to put together a team, Ryan..

Jack (New Jersey Giants)

Will the Gmen lose a game before, say, 2012, and if so, when do you see it happening? You can include playoffs.

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:16 PM)

Look to weeks 8 & 9.. I think they will loose to the Steelers, in Pitt.. Or, if they win, there they will loose at home to Dallas.

Russ

How good will the Jets play tonight?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:17 PM)

Favre will get the ball into the EZ, but not enough times. The Jets' defense will let San Diego score even more..

Dan (Des Moines, IA)

How many wins for the Dolphins this year? and Who will get first pick in the draft?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:18 PM)

Five wins for Miami.. Either St. Louis or Detroit with the first pick - I vote Detroit

dan boston

sproles is off punt duty... does that make him a fantasy start over lt tonight? more touches?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:19 PM)

It's sounding like Sproles will get most of the carries tonight. But I think LT will see some action - situational.

Mike

Will the Texans be looking for a new coach soon??

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:20 PM)

Too soon. The owner is not going to make a change this quick.. He has at least another year to get things rolling in Houston..

Joiner (San Diego)

Please tell Cottrel what a blitz package is.

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:21 PM)

Oh, he knows.. He started to use it last year after his vanilla defense couldn't stop anyone at the begining of the season.

Dan (Cincinnati, OH)

How will the situation with Anderson and Quinn play out in Cleveland? I think it might be time for a switch.

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:22 PM)

Coaches like to make those kind of moves during their bye week.. Cleveland has a bye Oct 5.. That's when it could happen.

Dan (Minneapolis)

so if it sounds like sproles is getting most of the carries, would u start him over LT then?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:23 PM)

That's what I would do.

Dave (maui)

Aloha, LT or Sproles? It's tough to bench LT, actually never have...good enough to dress, good enough to play?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:24 PM)

Like I said, I'd go with Sproles, especially if the Chargers get an early lead. LT won't see much action if they are sitting on a significant lead tonight..

Mitch (NJ)

I think may people on this board don't know anything about the Jets defense. It's good and going to get better and better each week as the chemistry with the new players develop.

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:27 PM)

Mitch, I'm not sure I'm sold on their D.. I want to see them stop more than Miami, or NE (without TB, which is not the same team as we saw, yesterday).

Drew (Chicago)

Sure Holt has been a disappointment, but do you think it's even money to deal him for Braylon Edwards?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:28 PM)

I'd go with Edwards.. He is bound to break out and St. Louis looks like they are about ready to call it quits.

MJ (Boston)

Who's the best TE in football

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:29 PM)

I'd have to go with Witten.. He is the best combination of receiver and blocker out there.

Carlos (La,CA)

Doug, Quick question? Vernon Davis-> Bust or Overhyped? Thanks.

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:30 PM)

Bust.. I think they put too much emphasis on his numbers (size/speed) and didn't look into his heart well enough.

Will J (Portland, OR)

Do you think Cleveland messed up not trading Derek Anderson when his stock was at it's highest at the end of last season?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:31 PM)

Yes.. They traded away their future for defensive players that haven't paid off, yet.. They will sorely miss those picks in next year's draft..

Charlie (NYC)

Doug, do you like Winslow or Scheffler for the rest of the season?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:32 PM)

Between the two I like Winslow the best.

Nic (San Jose)

TWO players, ONE question. What kind of production do you see for Kevin Curtis and Justin Fargas when they return?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:33 PM)

I see more production for Curtis.. McFadden may end up keeping Fargas on the bench..

Mike R

Is Larry Johnson out of his funk or does it depend on his team ?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:35 PM)

Johnson is a fairly emotional player and I think he still needs to grow up..

Baltimore, MD

Vincent Jackson...he is going to have a big night

Mike (Lexington, KY)

Rudi Johnson had a fairly productive day for the Lions yesterday (and amazingly even receiving}. Is he a viable pick up as a backup or possible #2 RB?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:37 PM)

Yes, he is a tough runner and coaches like to use his type when they need tough yards (goal line or 3rd and 1)..

myrtho new york

chargers is go 2 lose

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:37 PM)

I hope your FB IQ is better than your spelling, myrtho

James, Ca

If you had to keep one who would it be.. Braylon or Andre Johnson?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:40 PM)

Braylon.. I like Cleveland's O line better (pass pro) and believe they have to start playing better before long.

greg: (Madison NJ)

Doug I think you are seriously underating the Jets defense. They have one of the best run defenses in the league (76yds per game and Revis is a stud at corner

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:41 PM)

Greg, I like Revis as well.. But don't look at stats, yet.. Two games is too early and it's not like they have faced a great offense, yet..

TG (Phoenix, AZ)

What do you think the Steelers record will be at the end of the season?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:42 PM)

11-5

Mike (Denver)

whats the chance that brandon marshall leads all recievers in all of the major categories

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:45 PM)

I think he has a great chance of leading in catches.. Yards??? tough to make the long catches late in the season when it's snowing..

Ed Somerset Ma

Given the performance of the Patriots this week, should they look to make a move for a QB?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:46 PM)

I don't see it happening.. BB would not be willing to admit that he made a mistake by keeping Cassel.

Mike (Waynesboro, VA)

Do both teams combine for over 50 points tonight?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:46 PM)

yes

MJ (Boston)

Would DeAngelo Hall start on the Patriots?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:48 PM)

No, he free lances too much.. BB has a very complicated defense and everyone has to stay within the system for it to work.

John (Westchester, NY)

Would it be fair to say that the Bills have the best balance of all three parts of the game in the AFC East??

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:49 PM)

I would agree with that.. They have always had the best Teams play, now they can stop the run and are becoming very efficient on offense as well..

esq-philadelphia

Doug- Is philly the real deal or am i just a homer?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:51 PM)

I think they are the real deal.. Jim Johnson (D coordinator) does not get the recognition he deserves and they are hitting on all cylinders on offense..

EP (Memphis)

Does Tennessee have a legitimate shot to win the AFC South with Kerry Collins at QB?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:52 PM)

Yes, with their defense and the way their ground game is going all Collins has to do is not loose the game.

Rick (Tampa,FL)

What up DK, who throws for more yardage tonight? What is your final score on this game?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:53 PM)

Never bet against Favre.. SD 24 - NYJ 21

Shotti (Hollywood,Fl)

Doug do you think the Washington Redskins will make the playoffs?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:55 PM)

Unfortunately for Jim Zorn they are in the same division as Dallas and Philly.. In other words, no.

BK (ny)

are the dolphins now contenders in the afc east? if so, how much credit should be given to pennington?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:56 PM)

Don't jump on Miami's bandwagon, yet. Pennington is a good addition but not a difference maker.

Chad Madison Heights, VA

How about the QB controversy in Tampa? Will Gruden stick with Griese when Garcia is healthy?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:57 PM)

I think he will.. It appears that Gruden and Garcia are butting heads and Gruden can be extremely stubborn

MJ (Boston)

Nnamdi and Terence Newman - 2 best corners? Thoughts?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:58 PM)

I could easily agree with that..

Dan (PA)

You just said they combine for over 50 tonight and then predicted a final score of 24 21?!?!

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (7:59 PM)

My bad.. Make it 27 - 24

Matt, AZ

Palmer at home vs. Cleveland or O'Sullivan @ NO next week? Tough not to play the hotter hand...but Palmer showed us what we've been DYING to see, against the defending SB Champs at that! What's your early inclination?

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (8:02 PM)

I'd go with Palmer, at home.. Cleveland appears to have wasted some trades in their attempt to upgrade their defense.. Cincy looked improved even though they lost at NYG.

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (8:02 PM)

Time is up. Thanks for the questions and enjoy the game, tonight.

Jon (va)

I need a receiver and I can get Bobby Engram and Deion Branch cheap. Who will be more productive and who will find the end zone more often.

Scouts Inc.'s Doug Kretz
  (8:04 PM)

Look to Engram when he comes back - -he's been hasselbeck's escape hatch for years. Branch's injury situation is still up in the air.

Bill

I have Farve and Rivers as my QB's , which one should I play tonight?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:04 PM)

Favre.

Troy (Waukesha,WI)

Who do I start LT or Sproles? I know LT is playing but will he pull what happened last week? I'm guessing sproles will get more touches then LT. What do you think?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:05 PM)

Sproles will most likely play more -- the word seems to be Sproles.

TC (Brookfield, WI)

You think if the Jets step up for the rest of the season, and the Bills continue their consistency... do the Pats miss the playoffs?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:06 PM)

I can't bet against that team and their history. I think nthe Bills will make the playoffs, but I'm not ready to boot New England. That's one of those "ask me in a month" questions.

Tyler, Atlanta, GA

Sproles or Thomas Jones? I have both and dont know who to start...

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:07 PM)

I really like Sproles, but if Thomas wants to keep up with his brother on the stat line, he'll have to have a great night.

Alison

Hey Doug, I can grab Slaton off the waiver wire, is he better than either Jonathan Stewart or Tim Hightower in a ppr league?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:08 PM)

I like stewart as much as any back this year. He really fits Carolina's new power game.

Matt (NYC)

Some people seem to forget that Kerry Collins took a team to the Super Bowl with the same formula he has in Tennessee right now. Good defense and a "thunder and lightning" running attack.

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:08 PM)

You're right, Matt. The Titans have everything it takes to go deep in the playoffs, and Fisher learned the old Bears template well.

P Hayes

I bet Sproles gets 20 carries, 80 yards rushing, 50 yards receiving, and 2 tds!!! GO BOLTS!

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:09 PM)

Not out of the question. I have a fondness for "Pocket Hercules" backs and I really like Sproles as an option in many different ways.

Cheyenne, Wyoming

I think maybe Tony Kornhieser is taking the Hochuli call harder than the Chargers are

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:10 PM)

As much as I (a Seattle resident) have seen sensitivity to bad calls, I think it's time for people to ease up on Hochuli. He made a bad call, he couldn't change possession, he admitted it, next.

John (MN)

Please help!! I'm up 24 pts and I have left to play eith cotchery or sprolles?? Which one would be the better start!! My opponent has Thomas Jones and Gates. Please help and thanks!!

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:11 PM)

Cotchery seems to be Brett's new best buddy.

Thomas, MN

Who are the top three out of these backs? Marshayn Lynch, Adrian Peterson, Reggie Bush, or Darren Mcfadden

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:12 PM)

In order: Peterson, McFadden, Lynch, Bush. That's as backs, not as fantasy options. Reggie Bush is more a tweener position than a running back.

Alex(CA)

I have Dmc and i got offered Lt in a keeper league yes or no help ?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:12 PM)

No. The running game is the one thing Oakland has going for it.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

DF...since u r plugged into Seattle..what r the chances Cowhher takes over for Holmgren next year? Or do they already know the replacement?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:13 PM)

Jim Mora has already been named the Seahawks' next head coach. You like running back by committee? You'll be seeing it for a while!

Bill ( NY)

What's Indys problem?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:13 PM)

Injuries. Line continuity. No Bob Sanders.

Roger (MI)

The question is will the lions fire Millen??

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:14 PM)

You'd think so, but there's a loyalty ther ethat most people can't understand. Question is, would Millen gain a lot of respect by admitting that he's in over his head? Probably.

MJ (Boston)

On a scale of 1-10, What would you rate DeAngelo Hall? I have a 7.4

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:15 PM)

Im' hoping to see more than I've seen. He's been horrible in coverage with the Raiders so far this season.

fo (chicago IL

Why don't they use Hester more. I know he's hurting now but in the off season all I heard from the coaching staff is how good he was going to be on offense. Why don't they use him more in a reggie bush style. Multiple spots and get him into space so he can do his thing.

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:16 PM)

I'm sure at this point, they wish they could clone him, but what do you do? He's the best special teams weapon -- maybe of all time. Health is an issue. That offense needs field position. Where do you rob Peter to pay Paul?

Matt, AZ

after yesterdays performance, would you take Greg Jennings for Andre Johnson straight up?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:17 PM)

One of the most interesting things I've heard this year is that Jennings is approaching elite status. In my opinion, he's there. Rarely do you see a better fit between offense and player. Love Johnson as well, but Jennings could have an exceptional season.

puffy

is d. anderson done?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:18 PM)

The NFL has caught up to him. Happens to most young quarterbacks. What do the Browns do? Find a way to make it work or go with Quinn? DA's not the only problem there.

Mike, CA

Larry Johnson, great outing yesterday, I imagine one more good one next week against Denver. Do you see him improving, seems like a feud between him and Edwards. Your thoughts?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:19 PM)

I don't know what to say about that team. Don't see him improving because I don't know if there's enough offense around him.

Jason (St Pete)

49ers offense for real? 2-1 with pretty good numbers, and that Seattle D was healthy...

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:20 PM)

For real with Martz. Frank Gore was talking about all the toys the new offense has at its disposal. Seattle secondary is a bit overrated, though.

MJ (Boston)

The Cowboys have a top 5 player at QB, WR, TE, RB, CB, LB, NT, K, P....is there any other team even close?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:22 PM)

Right now, they've got the most talent all-around. The question now is injuries. If they're healthy, they're very, very difficult to stop. From the lines out, which is the most impressive aspect.

Vic (Kailua, HI)

Michael Turner has looked good so far. Do you see his production continuing or was that the results of playing the Lions and Chiefs?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:23 PM)

Yes and no. I may have underrated him early on as Tomlinson's backup, but Atlanta's line has some potential. He will, however, hit some snags. He won't have that same type of production, though.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

Is it a credit to the Chargers front office that they had a great backup to LT in Turner, let him go and come up with another great backup in Sproles, while other teams struggle to find a quality starter?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:24 PM)

Yes, AJ Smith has long been known as one of the NFL's best personnel men.

Drew (DC)

ISN'T THIS A MNF CHAT?! 11+ points needed tonight in a non-PPR league. I have Sproles and LDT. Who do I start?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:24 PM)

I say Sproles, but that's me going against conventional wisdom.

Eddie (Toledo)

Last minute...in a ppr league LT or Sproles?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:24 PM)

Sproles. There it is!

JT

Will Jay Cutler keep connceting with brandon marshall?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:26 PM)

Yes, but watch out for Eddie Royal as well. He has surprised me with his hands and route-running. Ease into the system. Not just a return guy by any means. This is also a reflection of Jay Cutler, who's playing out of his mind right now.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Who is the dominant team in the AFC- Denver- Tennessee- Buffalo?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:27 PM)

Buffalo, then Tennessee, then Denver. (pick Sproles, everyone)

Biggy Miami Fl

Whats up with Teddy Ginn jr.? He had an ok week this week but at times he just looks lost. Will he be a legit receiver?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:27 PM)

With a legit quarterabck, as part of a legit system. He's not an "A" guy -- more a speed option and dangerous in that regard.

Josh (Charlotte)

How much impact will Shockey injury have on Brees? Does it drop him below Warner?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:29 PM)

Brees seems like one of those Teflon guys -- no matter who his receivers are, he's solid. His big problem is pass pro -- he will throw heavy picks under pressure. Meachem looks good and Bush is always an outlet. Below Warner? Maybe in the short term.

Ben

I desperately need RBs. I own LT, Kevin Smith, and Maroney, but none of them are producing or playing on the field. Available RBs in our league are Selvin Young, Norwood, Michael Bush, McClain, and Michael Pittman. Who should I pick up?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:30 PM)

Norwood, based on the history. Last year, he was one of the most efficient backs in the NFL despite a disastrous line. He'll still get looks with Turner there. I also like McClain, but I don't know what Baltimore's doing with their backfield yet.

Vic (Kailua, HI)

With the Saints down Shockey and Colston, can they muster enough wins to make a playoff run? It seems the curse of the NFC South is in full effect.

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:31 PM)

They have to raise their defense to league average at . I'll say this -- Tracy Porter got a lot of flak for the touchdown against the Skins, but Jason David would have been 15 yards behind Moss.

Jay Cincy OH

Would you start cotchery or tomlinson? hurry please!

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:31 PM)

Cotchery

mike (los angeles via south jersey)

doug, do you think this is the last year in philly for mcnabb regardless of how well he and/or the team play?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:32 PM)

No. I think the interesting relationship continues.

Daunte Culpepper, In Hiding

WHY AREN'T THE PATRIOTS CALLING ME????

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:32 PM)

Because you don't fit the offense.

Randy (Baltimore)

Does the NFC have the top 4 teams in the NFL right now (Dal,Phi,NYG,GB)?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:33 PM)

I'd say that the Bills and Titans have a say somewhere in there, but Dallas and Philly may be the best overall.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

For how crazy the first 3 weeks of the NFL has been, why couldn't the Lions break their mold?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:33 PM)

It starts at the top -- or in this case, the bottom.

Andy Reid (Philly, PA)

what's the latest on Brian Westbrook? Will he play on Sunday?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:34 PM)

Day-to-day, last I heard. They'll certainly do everything they can to get him in there.

k.o. (boston)

should i trade cassel for mcnabb?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:34 PM)

Uh -- yeah!

Daunte Culpepper, In Hiding

Fine, THEN WHY ARENT THE CHIEFS CALLING ME?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:35 PM)

Okay - you may have a point there. I wonder how much of the problem with Culpepper is that he's self-represented.

G (Philly)

LT or Sproles, HELP!!!!

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:35 PM)

(sproles)

Matt, AZ

Lost Shockey...possible trade for Winslow in the works-is it a death sentence to have Braylon and Winslow on the same squad?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:36 PM)

You;'re going to have to deal with a few drops. The upside, however, is pretty special.

Randy (Baltimore)

With Joe Flacco becoming hust the third QB to win his first two starts. Will he be more like Elway or Ryan Leaf (the other two to do it)?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:37 PM)

I like Flacco. Good play action moves for a shotgun guy. More mobile than you'd expect. Smart and tough. I think he'll be alright.

Travis

Is Adrian Peterson suffering a small slump, or is this signs of the season to come?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:38 PM)

Guys with that style are going to back into tackles and have less than stellar days. Then, he'll put up 350 total yards and redefine the highlight film. With a good QB, yikes.

Danny (CA)

yikes - have two minutes: Vincent Jackson or Chambers??

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:38 PM)

(aims at dartboard) Jackson.

dustin, ut

Is Slaton from houston worth getting?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:39 PM)

Sure. He's a perfect for for the Alex Gibbs blocking scheme.

Troy ( Muskego, WI)

What do you rate the packers? I say top 7.

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:40 PM)

I want to see what's up with Al Harris first. They've got the division, but I'm not sold on them as an elite team just yet. Soooo close, though.

Joe Townsend,IN

who's better, chris johnson or matt forte?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:41 PM)

"Better" is subjective, but I like versatility. Johnson can do more.

Fireman Ed, East Rutherford, NJ

Who ya got tonight Doug, The Chargers or my J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:41 PM)

Chargers. They're desperate to win.

dan (wisconsin)

possibly a dumb question, but do i drop ray rice to get a d as seattle is on bye, or hang on to him and drop seattle hoping to get them back the next week?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:42 PM)

I like Rice, but the Ravens seem to be doing some interesting things with their committee. Maybe more power sets with McClain. Wait on Seattle's D. They're having problems with safety help and giving up some big plays.

Matt, AZ

Everybody is WAY too down on Cotchery all of a sudden, he's gonna put up 100 and a TD tonight, and post 1,000 yds and 8-10 TDs this season-thoughts?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:43 PM)

If he stays as Brett's fave target, I don't see why not.

Vic (kailua, HI)

Has there ever been a more erratic year for QBs than this year? Brady goes down to injury in 8 minutes, Palmer is only a shell of himself, Peyton is actually human, Cutler is unreal, where's Vince and Matt?, the list goes on and on.

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:44 PM)

Erratic is a good way to put it, Vic. Add in the problems with Indy's line and Hasselbeck throwing to CFL receivers at this point, and it's a very interesting recipe.

Brian(TX)

I have Colston. All of his backups are available in our league. With Shockey hurt, I am grabbing one. How would you order Patten, Meachem, and Henderson?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:44 PM)

Meachem, Patten, Henderson. Henderson runs fast and drops a lot of balls.

Flipper

What do you really make of that Miami win? Is Miami really a better team than last year already? Mind you winning twice in two years seems impossible. Though so does getting hit by lighting..coudl happen

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:45 PM)

Go Single-wing! I think Miami's coaching staff came up with a great wrinkle against a team with smart, but slow, linebackers. In the long term, they're on the right track with Parcells. That answer is almost automatic.

looking for a win (Nashville, TN)

I have gotten stuck with Cassel and Trent Edwards. Should I keep Edwards as my starter?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:46 PM)

Yes. He's an underrated guy because everyone still sees the Bills as a grind-it-out team. He has some targets.

Josh (GOD SAVE THE PATRIOTS)

What are the odds of Bill coaxing Doug Flutie out of retirement?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar

What's Jack Kemp doing

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:48 PM)

Sorry, Folks - a slight internet goofup there.

Jamaal (Washington Twp, NJ)

The Bengals defense played well against the Giants and seem to be more aggressive. Do you think that Mike Zimmer may actually have this defense improving?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:49 PM)

I like Rivers. Someone's got to take the team by the reins.

NEED A QB!!! (MN)

Do i start Derek Anderson or Gus Ferotte? Derek Anderson got me 2 pts last week. Whats up with him this year?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:50 PM)

Frerotte. You don't know if Anderson will even be there next week. You might also investgate a trade.

michael (chicago)

Is it time to go with Forte over Portis or SJax?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:50 PM)

I'd stick with Portis over the long haul as that offense comes together.

Sean (NY)

who's a better WR, Eddie Royal or Calvin Johnson?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:51 PM)

Calvin Johnson.

Vic (Kailua, HI)

Are the Cards for real? It seems that for the past few years, they have been the sexy sleeper pick out of the NFC. Are they finally reaching their potential, or are we looking at the Lions of last year (open 6-2, only to fall flat on their faces)?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:51 PM)

The offense is there, but the defense is erretic. Still, that's more than enough to win that division. So much depends on Warner's health. He's become the glue of that team.

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

again, doug, jets 49, chargers 3.

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:52 PM)

Well, you're off to a good start!

Travis (Oklahoma)

Is Brandon Marshall going to get suspended again?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:52 PM)

I really hope not -- he's got so much talent and he needs to figure it out.

mike

do you think ronnie brown will produce the next couple of weeks or not because the 1st two weeks he did nothing

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:53 PM)

It's all about health with him. Watch the Dolphins over the year, though -- watch how they build and develop their lines. That offensive line will surprise some people.

Kevin ( charlottesville, va)

Does Cutler to Marshall draw any comparisons to Montana to Rice?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:54 PM)

In that all four gentlemen are carbon-based life forms, yes. Other than that, I'd wait a few years.

NEW YORK JETS

DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE...Quick Start. Is this a better sleeping defense than Buffalo?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:54 PM)

I like their secondary a lot.

Sean (NY)

Is Big Ben going to pick it up again next week after his horrible day getting mauled by the Eagles, or should I bench him until his injury report (if any) comes out?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:55 PM)

Bad pass-blocking line + quarterback who seems to love getting sacked = long-term problem.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Who Is a good sleeper TE to pick up?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:55 PM)

If he's still a sleeper, John Carlson of the Seahawks.

Flipper (Terrana - toronto for those not down w/ phonetics)

DO you see a complete upheavle in the AFC this year and the balance of power switching to the NFC, or conference pariity becoming a theme this year? ....the NFC west is awfully bad, and so are much of the other NFC bottom feeders...

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:56 PM)

I think it's too early to tell. so many teams go strong out of the gate, and so many things can happen.

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:56 PM)

By the way, I wrote about Lowery on FO recently -- VERY impressed by this kid.

SD (PA)

Do you know if the Monday Night Football sideline reporters wear makeup if the crew wears makeup? I am really interested in makeup and love it and also was wondering if they do?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:57 PM)

I can tell you that I am not wearing any makeup in my home office. That's all I know.

mike

should i start ronnie brown over thomas jones?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:57 PM)

I think that's a good play.

Lucifer, The Firey Abyss

So Brady and Weis held up their ends of the bargain, and lost knees as a result. Romeo Crennel's team is now in disarray to make up for his pact with me. Am I doing a good job?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:59 PM)

Yes, but the people of Detroit want to know what's the deal with Matt Millen.

Did anybody notice that

Is it just me or did the defensive corrdinator for the Raiders threw the game just to get rid of Kiffin and get the Head coach position. what happen to the blitz after the half and what about A. Hall playing like rookie?

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (8:59 PM)

I don't htink anyone is throwing anything, but the Raiders are a pretty good example of what happens when talent gets scuttled by miscommuncation.

Sean (NY)

why did Eli wait until week 3 to finally pass to Kevin Boss? that kid has a great NFL career ahead of him.

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar
  (9:00 PM)

Probably because Plaxico is on fire. Agreed on Boss, though. Thought he was a sleeper in the draft.

Football Outsiders Doug Farrar

Nice drive there for Philip Rivers and the Chargers after the early pick. Where do you all think Rivers ranks in the whole group of young QBs with Manning, Cutler, Roethlisberger, etc?

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Had 20 wings for dinner, a pitcher of beer, I'm now ready to watch the Chargers implode and start the clock on the Norv-Tuner-Really-Isn't-A-Good-Head-Coach-Fire-Him watch.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Cutler, Rivers, Manning, Rothlisberger---the rest

Mike (Lexington, KY)

Rivers is awright

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Since Favre is playing, are we supposed to drink everytime Rodgers is mentioned?

Buzzmaster
  (9:05 PM)

Water, of course.

Patrick (Louisville)

Hey Buzz. Rivers is a step behind those guys. Manning and Roeth have SB titles. Cutler looks like a fantasy god this year.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Rivers is a big, tough, smart QB. He's behind Manning, ahead of Cutler and Big Ben.

Buzzmaster
  (9:06 PM)

Wow, ahead of Cutler? You may be in the minority there, Cliff.

Justin (Ohio)

Rivers has to be below Manning and Roethlisberger doesn't he? They each have SB wins. Right there with Cutler though maybe a little above him.

Vic (Kailua, HI)

Probably behind all 3 that you mentioned. A lot of Rivers' success can be attributed to LT taking presure off the passing game. It helps to have Gates also.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Rivers will playn hurt though. That goes a long way.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

River is last. Just because a guy plays a game with a torn ACL doesn't make him a good player...gutsy? Absolutely, but he is still an avg QB...

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

SB isnt everything. We are asking about best QB---Marino didnt have a ring...you gonna take Eli or Roths over him? nah dont htink so.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Roethlisberger rode the bus to the superbowl. Since then he has been less than steallar..

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Cutler, Manning, Rothlisberger, Rivers

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

But he first if the list is 'young qb most likely to fight a mascot'

Patrick (Louisville)

But against the same competition...yeah, a Super Bowl ring means quite a lot.

Justin (Ohio)

Well I'm a Browns fan and I would take any of the four.

Buzzmaster
  (9:08 PM)

C'mon, Brady Quinn is the next Brian Sipe!

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

The best way to rank the young guns is like this: If you had to pick one of them to build a team around, who's the pick? Cutler easily over the rest and Rivers last. Weak arm, immature, and nothing when LT isn't healthy.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Rivers has been to the A.F.C. title game, and he stepped right in for a good QB in Brees and didn't miss a beat.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

I wnat to see more than the first 3 games before I rate Cutler ahead of any of them...very average until now

Justin (Ohio)

Steve, I think alot of people would take Manning or Ben over Marino because they have a SB. Not saying I'm one of them but the point is to win.

Buzzmaster
  (9:09 PM)

Turnovers playing a big role early, as Chargers recover a fumble.

Patrick (Louisville)

Looks like this could be a wacky game.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Also- Rivers has won playoff games without LT and Gates....he went beat a tough Tennessee team last year in the playoffs without LT or Gates doing much of anything. Rivers is underrated IMO.

Jason

Manning hands down look at the 4th quarter poise

Vic (Kailua, HI)

Its hard to accurately assess Cutler based off of last year. Having to unknowingly play with diabetes can limit your game some.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

This is a perfect time for an LT TD pass

Buzzmaster
  (9:11 PM)

Pulling the Ronnie Brown?

Buzzmaster
  (9:11 PM)

It appears Buster Davis will be playing the Eddie Royal-DeSean Jackson role on MNF tonight ...

Chad P.(Miami, FL)

Leave Rivers alone about his arm. I think it's perfectly fine!

Pete (NC)

Rivers to Chambers would really help my fantasy team.

Riley (Alexandria, VA)

Cutler is the best of em all no doubt 20 TD's last season with diabetes and this year he looks unstoppable with all the last minute wins reminds me a little of a younger Favre (even though he not as much of a gunslinger) he can move around and seems to empower that whole team

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

LT is the original HB passes.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

I'm so glad my fantasy opponent didn't stsrt Ronnie Brown.

Buzzmaster
  (9:12 PM)

TD pass to Mike Tolbert, starting on exactly zero fantasy teams.

Patrick (Louisville)

To the big fella!

Justin (Ohio)

Is that Rivers or David Kreig?

Ken (Richmond, VA)

Rivers having problems holding onto the ball.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Rivers owes my fantasy team 6 points for messing up that handoff.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

so who had mike tolbert on their fantasy team tonite...lol

Mike (Lexington, KY)

that was a great goal line call

Ryan (San Diego)

Its not Rivers, its the center. He's a backup and he's been snapping the ball horribly all preseason and first 2 weeks

Buzzmaster
  (9:15 PM)

Well that's about 15 whole minutes without talking about Brett Favre. I think we've passed the limit.

Buzzmaster
  (9:15 PM)

What have you all seen from him so far? Are we talking Joe Montana with the Chiefs or something worse?

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

speaking of that. McNabb, Collins, Warner...it seems this seems to be the year of vet QBs rejuvinating their careers.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

amen Buzz..I am a fan of Favre but even I have my limits

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

He will be fine as soon as Mangini opens up the playbook. He WAS in the NFC championship last year.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Someone tell Jon Kitna that.

Vic (Kailua, HI)

Joe with the Chiefs was great. Just imagine if he had Marcus Allen while with the Niners.

Patrick (Louisville)

I liked the cheifs because of Joe Montana. Then when he retired, I started pulling for the steelers because of their 'great' qb play in big games.

Elfie (Anderson, SC)

Chargers are gonna run away with this one

Buzzmaster
  (9:17 PM)

10-7 Chargers after one quarter.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

No, Favre will be way better than that as soon as the playbook opens up. Plus Montana was made of glass.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

I cannot stand this constant Farvling (Brett Farve Oogling)....it has seriously reached the saturation point.

Buzzmaster
  (9:17 PM)

But he is at least playing tonight. That makes it a little more relevant.

Grant, Kings Mountain NC

How much does Brett Farves reputation influnce the definsive play calling of San Diego?

Ken (Richmond, VA)

Can someone explain why the Jets traded for Favre just so they can continue to run the Chad "noodle arm" Pennington gameplan?

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Vic, he had roger Craig. He wasn't bad.

Riley (Alexandria, VA)

I think Favre isn't gonna be worse but better the Jets just need to utilize his abilities let him settle in he'll be fine, he still adjusting to the system, and if that line let's to much through he can't scramble like he used ex. Pats game sacked alot and when Favre's under pressure he hurries his throws and makes bad decisions O-line steps up and he settles in he'll be fine

Justin (Ohio)

Montana made of glass? By glass do you mean 4 SB titles?

Buzzmaster
  (9:19 PM)

I think he meant by the time he got to KC he wasn't overly mobile.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

please dont mention Montana...he ruined my life bringing the niners back agaisnt the bengals in the SB

Vic (Kailua, HI)

Tell Joe, or any other QB from that era, that they're made of glass. Back then, defenses were allowed to hit QBs (hit being a mild term, more like drilled).

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

So, did anyone else notice on 1st and 10, LT took a flare pass and ran out of bounds instead of cutting back inside and getting a couple extra yards? I swear for the past two years, he has been scared to take a good hit. You think Marion Barber would run out of bounds before gaining the maximum number of yards he can? And due to that, the Chargers end up kicking a field goal cause the 2nd down play wasn't 2nd and 4, it was 2nd and 7.

Buzzmaster
  (9:19 PM)

Cromartie with the game's second INT return for a TD!

Luis (San Diego)

Cromartie is my idol and i expected him to have another monster season this year, but he just seems out of sync, weregonna need him

Mike (Lexington, KY)

turnovers are killers

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

LOL! SPEAK OF THE DEVIL!

Buzzmaster
  (9:20 PM)

Did he get there early on the pass?

Ken (Richmond, VA)

That one wasn't Favre's fault. Just a great play by Cromartie.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

hahahahah Buzz you gotta give me props I called that one.

Buzzmaster
  (9:20 PM)

You did.

Justin (Ohio)

Anyone else enjoy watching Favre struggle just a little bit?

Steiny (NYC)

Well that makes up for the dropped INT earlier in the game.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

No one said Mangini was an offensive genius. And you know that it is Marty-Ball Jr for the O-coordinator... TOUCHDOWN CROMARTIE!!!

Ryan (San Diego)

Drops the easy one and gets the hard one haha

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Well that should quiet the Favre talk.

Buzzmaster
  (9:21 PM)

No way, now we get to ask if he's lost it!

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Way early.

Buzzmaster
  (9:22 PM)

And Washington returns the kick to the four yard line!

Pete (NC)

what? no block in the back?

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

wow big kick return

Mike (Lexington, KY)

and I thought last weeks game was crazy...2 defensive TD's so far

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

I love how they are rationalizing Farve's INT, and before when Rivers threw one they are saying he looked rattled...jeesh

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

You know who threw a great block there? Brett Favre.

Buzzmaster
  (9:22 PM)

Sarcasm noted.

Adam

RUN LEON RUN

Steiny (NYC)

He can go all the way...o wait no he can't.

Buzzmaster
  (9:23 PM)

And there's Favre rifling one in there to Coles for the TD.

Vic (Kailua, HI)

I think Favre has been in the good graces of the football gods his entire career. I can't think of any other QB who can just randomly throw the ball into the air, and have his guy come down with it most of the time.

jason(california)

wacky game!!

Franky (Chicago)

Alright guys!! Let's get this party started! Ohh and by the way, was that so hard to do Jets?? Brett can do that all day!! LOL!!

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

River's INT was a wounded duck in the flat picked clean. The Farve INT was good defense/lazy receiver.

Ken (Richmond, VA)

Steve, Rivers bobbled the snap and was late with his throw allowing Reeves to jump the route. Cromartie just mauled the WR and stole the ball that the WR should have caught.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

what a great 4yd drive.. ;)

Pete (NC)

do not say favre is back. anyone could score starting at the 5 YL.

Buzzmaster
  (9:25 PM)

Just ask the Broncos after last week's non-fumble ...

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

It's about time he gets to sling it. That's why they got him.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Ah good rationalization Ken...keep thinking that. Farve will throw another one to the blue shirts tonight.

Steiny (NYC)

It is sad that Eric Mangini is 35 and Brett Farve is 38!!!

Travis (Oklahoma)

I like Favre, but tired of him trying to sell me Walmart jeans.

Callahan

How about all these FLORIDA STATE boys making big plays? Cromartie's INT for TD, Washington's HUGE runback, then Coles reception for a TD.. REPRESENT THOSE NOLES!

Buzzmaster
  (9:26 PM)

They could have used some of them against Wake Forest.

Justin (Ohio)

Buzz, remember all those clunkers last year on MNF? Not this year. What great entertaining games so far.

Ken (Richmond, VA)

Steve was that or was that not interference by Cromartie?

Buzzmaster
  (9:27 PM)

Onside kick!

Mike (Lexington, KY)

wow onsides kick...pulling out all the stops

Ron

You stay classy, San Diego.

Buzzmaster
  (9:27 PM)

Chargers do recover.

Hugh(St. Augustine, FL)

Poor execution....

Ken (Richmond, VA)

That was not the right time to go for an onside kick.

Buzzmaster
  (9:28 PM)

I don't know, lot of chaos leading up to it, everyone thinking about matching Washington's long return. Seems like a decent time to try it.

Jeff (Bellingham,WA)

I like it.

Adam

I've seen the Bewildered Jay Feely look before. He really IS back

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

That was not interference, he was making a play for the ball.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Lack of respect for the SD offense or ultimate sign of respect?

Ken (Richmond, VA)

I guess Mangini has no confidence in his defense tonight. Why else would he go for an onsides kick down by one score.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

I think it was more them questioning their defense.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

I like the call. They need to do something. It just didn't work.

Ryan (San Diego)

They better respect the SD offense...I dont think they are dumb enough not to. They've seen the film

Mike (Lexington, KY)

well the onsides kick definitely caught me off guard...i guess they were SD too

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

You can make a play for the ball but NOT go through the receiver. That's ok, makes up for the 18 catches he gave up against B. Marshall.

Ron

It's good that teams are scoring so much on Monday Night...because God knows it'll make up for the 3 Cleveland Browns games coming up.

Jeff (State College, PA)

Cromartie's play.....while great. Was interference....plain and simple. Replay look at it....he got there early and went through the back of the receiver. Interference. Oh well. I am not a Jet fan....or Favre fan...just calling it like the referee should have.

Hugh(St. Augustine, FL)

The onside kick was used to steal the momentum back from the SD defense, Brett needs all the momentum he can get these days

Eric (San Diego, CA)

Still don't understand the onside kick. Bad move by Mangini.

C. Pennington(Miami, FL)

I love that Rivers hasn't completed a pass thrown over 7 yards tonight. Perfect quarterbacking!

Vic (Kailua, HI)

I thought I was the only one not looking forward to Cleveland.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Momentum is a theory made up by announcers.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Mangini has been playing madden too much.

Ryan (San Diego)

Gimme a break on Cromartie. The Jets guy did the same thing to Gates and forced them to settle for a fg. They didnt flag that either

Buzzmaster
  (9:32 PM)

TD Rivers to Chambers.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

so much for the slight on Rivers eh!?

Pete (NC)

Rivers to Chambers. I love you fantasy gods!

Eric (San Diego, CA)

THIS is the SD offense.

Geoff (Albany NY)

where's the coverage?

Mike (Lexington, KY)

wide open...ouch

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

nice pass by Rivers. Much better than his out pass to start the game...

Josh (WA)

Looks like that Onside kick backfired.

Ryan (San Diego)

What a look off on the safety...the kid has skill

Franky (Chicago)

That was just too easy!! That's what you get for taking the onside kick...

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

I think S.D had more talent than Dallas.

Kevin (Tallahassee, FL)

We got our butts kicked by Wake Forest, but it's nice seeing 3 former Seminoles--Cromartie, Coles and Leon Washington--contributing on MNF.

Max (River Forest)

I already have other plans those nights when the Browns are playing. Time to reorganize the sock drawer.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

I gotta say- the more I see Rivers, the more I like. HE has toughness, and after throwing a pick he gets more agressive and goes right back out htere. He is everything that VY used to be...

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

eh, from the looks of it, the onside kick just shorted the length of the drive. I don't think the Jets can stop them. Unless they call out patterns...

Buzzmaster
  (9:36 PM)

Looks like Favre is going to get his chance to put up 40 passes tonight.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Come on Farve...sling another one to Cromarte.

Jack (west palm beach, FL)

Is anyone playing defense? This makes for a lot of fun to watch, but could someone please tackle someone.

Steiny (NYC)

The Jets tried the same on side kick play with Nugent's on November 18, 2006 against the Bears. It turns out that play did work out either, as that cost the Jets to lose the game.

Buzzmaster
  (9:37 PM)

I'm guessing they tried an onside at some between then and now.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

I like the offense. defense is for Sundays.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

the punters could just watch the game from the locker room

Bradley D (Charlotte NC)

Dallas 3-0 S.D. 0-2 Yeah S.D.'s talent is really showing up over Dallas's

Hugh(St. Augustine, FL)

The only thing the jets have going for them is hype around Farve, the fact that he is there is only going to bring a media circus of embarrassment highlighting their and farve's losing season

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Don't forget SD fans. The Chargers wanted Manning and SETTLED for Rivers.

Hugh(St. Augustine, FL)

if brett wasnt on the team, nobody would care about he Jets losing this year

Buzzmaster
  (9:39 PM)

That's sort of the point though.

Aaron (Mukwonago, WI)

He may put up 40 passes but only 15 of them will be complete

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Anyone know who the Dolphins got with the 2nd round pick for Chambers? Great trade by SD...

Luis (San Diego)

Castillo down?.......Come on another one?

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Well only because Manning didnt want to go to San Diego....

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Actually, the Chargers didn't want Manning. The fact that the Mannings opened they obnoxious mouths just helped AJ Smith trade the pick and Eli.

Russ (San Diego)

Well the Chargers are back time for the rest of the AFC to cower in fear. Noone can bea the chargers playing their best and we're only going to get HEALTHIER the next couple weeks.

Steiny (NYC)

Yea they have in late in games. What I meant was that was the last time that he tried it in the middle of the game as a sneak play.

Walter (Phoenix, AZ)

Let's not forget that they were ROBBED of their victory last week.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

They lost two close games and their coach is Norv Turner. give 'em a break.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

I think it was moreso that the Chargers knew that the Giants had him way more valued than they did. They stole Rivers and...did they get Merriman with the other pick?

Josh (WA)

Rivers is a better QB than Eli.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

it has worked out well for Manning and I would say the rivers as well

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

I don't think an organziation, even the Chargers, drafts someone they don't want, do they?

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Russ- wouldnt go that far...I think Tennessee and Buffalo could easily handle these chargers. Both defenses could shut down the offense and both offenses could do enough to win.

Buzzmaster
  (9:42 PM)

Another interception, looked like some confusion on that route.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

another INT...seems to have been a mixup

Peter (NC)

who was he passing that to?

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

haaaaaahahahahahaha thank you brett.

Eric

bring back ryan leif

Josh (WA)

Favre is going to have 3+ picks tonight!

Ken (Richmond, VA)

Robert, Miami took Chad Henne with the pick they got from the Chargers.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Tomorrow's headline: "Favre Fetched"

Hugh(St. Augustine, FL)

Why is Farve trying to go out like this?

Luis (San Diego)

YEAH!!! I have the Chargers D/ST on my fantasy. I AM HAVING A FIELD DAY!!!

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

im pretty sure he was throwing to antonio freeman

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

no Tomorrow's headline will make some excuse for Farve---saying something about his recievers, or how the chargers cheated or something

Buzzmaster
  (9:44 PM)

That sounds like a pretty long headline.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Favre sets a record for most career interceptions! ....again.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Oh, Brett. he's been known to throw a pick. Or four.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Ahhhh, Henne. That could be a very good trade for both teams then...

Eric (San Diego, CA)

Josh from WA, I am gonna call 5 INTs for Favre!

Steiny (NYC)

That is the problem. The Jets recievers and Farve are on a different page.

Buzzmaster
  (9:45 PM)

In different books.

Josh (WA)

Favre seems to be good for 3 TDs a game the question remains which team is scoring them.

Jack (west palm beach, FL)

This is the kinda game where Brett throws either 5 touchdowns OR 5 interceptions or BOTH!!!!!!

Ken (Richmond, VA)

Steve, it's all Ted Thompson's fault. If he had traded Favre when Favre wanted him to, he wouldn't be so far behind the learning curve with the Jets offense.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

If the Chargers do win, they'll only be tied with the Raiders. Let's Curb the Enthusiasm for a few weeks fellas.

Hugh(St. Augustine, FL)

the Jets need a running game....

Mark Gastineau (Ardmore, Oklahoma)

I'm tired of listening to you guys heaping praise on the Chargers' offense. I brought my pads and I'm ready to suit up. Let me play. I'm sitting in Section D so I'll just wait for the signal.

Travis (Oklahoma)

Ted Thompson is more concerned for his team. Keeping Favre out of the the offense makes him harder to come back and beat the Packers later.

Matt (Plano,TX)

Another INT, is Brett trying too hard to make something happen. Feel this one slipping away. If they lose this one it would be a wasted opportunity with the Pats losing yesterday.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

This could get ugly quick or set up a huge comeback by Favre

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Fact of the matter is, look at Farve the past 5 years---take out last year and the guy was TERRIBLE. They drafted ARod because Farve was KILLING them.

Franky (Chicago)

They still gotta run, no matter what. It makes thing easy...unless your getting a beatdown. They gotta be creative...plus, isn't he "Mangenius?" Just saying...

Steve (Ala)

Looks like M. Turner is a much better RB than Mr. bumb toe this year

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

They drafted ARod because Farve is 82 years old.

Hugh(St. Augustine, FL)

What is Mangini up to with this farve thing? I thought something similar to that When back when Del Rio had Letwich as QB, I thought he was a fool, but then he turns around and puts in the much more favored Garrad, and he looks like a genius....

Buzzmaster
  (9:49 PM)

Are you saying a Kellen Clemens sighting is coming?

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Eh Turner has tore up 2 bad defenses and looked average against the good one, wouldnt go that far Steve.

Ken (Richmond, VA)

Steve, how'd Rogers work out for the Pack last night? He looked like a deer in the headlights against a good defense.

Max (River Forest)

Would not be good to settle for a field goal here - or worse, a turnover.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Steve you can't be serious. L.T is the best back since Emmitt Smith.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

Hey Buzz...if the Chargers go up 17 at the half do u sit LT and rest his toe?

Buzzmaster
  (9:50 PM)

Forget LT. How about I sit out with a sore typing finger. But no, I think you stick with him through three at least.

Gary (TX)

I've got Favre and LT on my fantasy team ... and this week I (luckily) benched them BOTH !

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

I'm a genius! People like me!

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

What has LT done this year against some "not so good defenses"? Not much I'd say. He's the 3rd best SD back behind Turner and Sproles this year.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

I bet my friend this offseason 50 bucks that Turner would have more yards than LT...

Buzzmaster
  (9:51 PM)

TD pass to Gates. Rivers is making fantasy owners happy after that first TD pass.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

and the romp is ON

Travis (Oklahoma)

no penalties in this game yet.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Would it kill the chargers to let LT in the enzone once?

Jack (west palm beach, FL)

Watch out what you wish for, Brett can still sling it better than most. P.S. a guy named Griese threw 3 int's yesterday and the TB Bucs. still won.... Brett is at his worst and best when he's slinging longballs.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

haha aaron your silly...and Rivers is proving my point that he is a great NFL QB.

Eric (Green Bay, WI)

Jets are getting stomped

Pete (NC)

And to think that Rivers was my backup QB.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

LT is older and has a ton of carries in him. It HAS to catch up to you at some point. And with RBs, it happens fast. Just look at Shaun Alexander.

Bradley D (Charlotte NC)

The AFC has gotten VERY VERY weak

Buzzmaster
  (9:52 PM)

It's an interesting point. Could the Chargers still be one of the favorites, or even the favorite at this point?

Luis (San Diego)

WOW!!! The Jets are getting pummeled this is indeed the true face if the SAN DIEGO CHARGERS!

Bradley D (Charlotte NC)

Chargers 1-2 expectations must be high this year for them being in The AFC

Hugh(St. Augustine, FL)

I'll answer that buzz.....YES....i have Sproles on my fantasy NFC east is the division to watch this year by far

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Brad- I wouldnt say that man...I think that there has been a shift. Look at Denver, Buffalo and Tennessee. Name me an NFC team that could hang with those three other than big D?

Mike (Lexington, KY)

Oakland jsut about beat Buffalo...i wouldn't annoint them just yet

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

No chance the Chargers are even in the conversation for a 'favorite'. LT isn't healthy and probably won't be all year. The defense is a sieve and do you really trust Rivers to carry a team?

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Records tell very little about a team at this point. Unless you're the Lions or Rams.

Pete (NY)

San Diego isn't that good it's the Jets really are that bad people

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

I'd still be worried about the Chargers D. Of course I am a totally pessimisstic person...

Bradley D (Charlotte NC)

Denver has beat who? and there d has given up an ungodly amount of points. Buffalo beat who/ Tenessee beat who?

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

And Steve...............go ORANGE!

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

When is Kiffin gonna get fired so he can come coach my Orange?

Hugh(St. Augustine, FL)

I agree with Brad D. not enough Defense anywhere but NFC east

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Bradley D.....3-0 is all that matters. They have beat who is on the schedule and should be 4-0 after next week.

Jason (Arlington, VA)

Hey Buzz, can the announcers be any more slanted to San Diego? Every time SD's offense is on, they drool over the offense. Every time NY's offense is on, they drool over SD's defense.

Buzzmaster
  (9:57 PM)

Um, Jason, it's 31-14 in the second quarter.

Steiny (NYC)

This game is not over. Obviously everybody remembers the Jets' comeback over the Dolphins in 2000.

Jim (SLC, Utah)

Farve needs to focus and settle down. He's to tight and his age might be showing in this season so far. What do you think?

Pete (NC)

with only a handful of unbeaten teams THREE games into the season, its too early for the "who have they beat" argument.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Tennessee has taken out Jacksonville, a superbowl pick by a few analysts, and a playoff team by almost everyone. They also beat a young Houston team whom everyone seemed to like and a Bengals team who has alot of talent...who else you want them to beat?

Dan (PHILLY)

Eagles, Cowboys, Giants. NFC EAST. THREE BEST TEAMS IN NFL?

Buzzmaster
  (9:58 PM)

Has the NFC, or at least the NFC East, passed the AFC with Brady out and Manning seemingly at less than 100 percent?

Luis (San Diego)

The AFC is still the top 5 of last year simply with Brady out, the Pats are done. The Colts, Steelers Chargers, and Jaguars are all in solid shape four weak teams are on top, but by week 5 or so the picture will be much clearer

Bradley D (Charlotte NC)

Actually It is Dallas's to lose this year nobody has the talent to keep up with them. But then again when they look like a superbowl team untill the playoffs..(When it counts)

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

This is getting uglier by the moment.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

Hugh- ALL THE TITANS HAVE is Defense...what are you talking about? In the NFC East, Dallas and Philly put up about a million points on eachother.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Steve....I'm 10 minutes south of Cincy. The Orange would give the Bengals a run for their money.

Buzzmaster
  (9:59 PM)

Down goes Favre on third down, punt coming.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

It surely seems so Buzz. I'd take the Eagles and cowboys over every other team...

Tom (NorthEast Philly)

Dallas NY and Philly remember Dallas beat the Eagles

Bradley D (Charlotte NC)

The Best team in the AFC(Who Ever that is) would finish dead last in the NFC East.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

You just can't take that sack. Even if he had 1 second.

Josh (Ala)

Its tough to say, there are still some good teams in the NFC.

Steve (Syracuse, NY)

I like the Cowboys and Eagles in the NFC, Titans and Bills in the AFC.

Ryan

All I know is that if the jets were gonna pass in the flats, they could of saved themselves $5 mil+ and retained Chad P. The Jets are gonna go into the locker room at HT and come out complacent.. giuaranteed?

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

i wonder if brett is thinking how nice biloxi is in the fall...

Buzzmaster
  (10:01 PM)

Biloxi in the fall? Did he take a shot to the head?

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

No way Bradley. Pittsburgh can play with anybody

MJ(Col,Ohio)

The Bengals need to learn how to use their talent with efficiency. Lets not even discuss there defense

Buzzmaster
  (10:01 PM)

Deal

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Dallas did beat Philly, but it was at home. You expect the home team to win when two even teams are playing...

Buzzmaster
  (10:02 PM)

Ok, we'll back back at the start of the third quarter!

Buzzmaster
  (10:16 PM)

And we're off and running.

The Suits (Bristol)

Buzz, since this is time and a half you're making 0.275 an hour for this chat. You need to plug Favre more though. Take it up a notch.

Buzzmaster
  (10:16 PM)

Yes, sirs.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

Can the Jets defense do enough to allow for a Jet comeback?

Buzzmaster
  (10:16 PM)

Chargers would love a nice seven or eight minute TD drive right here.

Josh (WA)

What no onside kick?

Brian

What is the G U on the helmets

Buzzmaster
  (10:17 PM)

Gene Upshaw.

Ryan

NO!!! and even if they offer opportunity the Jets O will void it

LoughtoN (Charleston, SC)

Chargers look like the team to beat in the AFC.

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

rivers motion makes me cringe

Pete (NY)

The 1 thing you know about Favre is you never know what he is going to do toss 5 Td's or 5 picks could be both or none of them you just never know

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Jets need a :40 sec drive right now

Bradley D (Charlotte NC)

Before the first half was over all the talk was about the NFC East... Before the end of the third the talk will go back to the NFC East

Buzzmaster
  (10:18 PM)

If you have anything to say about it, for sure.

Buc Master

what's up with the Bucs being left out of the fastest three minutes two weeks in a row?

Kenny (Oh)

What are the chances Cowher lands in Cleveland?

Buzzmaster
  (10:19 PM)

Is he flying Continental?

Buzzmaster
  (10:19 PM)

Big play for Sproles, who has a lot of fans in this chat room.

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

i don't think 30 minutes of beating the jets gets you 'team to beat' status.

Max (River Forest, IL)

I think even Norv and Philip know they need more points with their defense. They appear to be going for 50!

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

I think the talk is totally random...that's what I love about it...and Sproles is my hero...

Buzzmaster
  (10:20 PM)

Another big play for Sproles, down to the two!

Josh (WA)

Jets Defense need to hang there heads in shame.

Luis (San Diego)

The Jets pass rush is horrible! Rivers has all day to throw and it doesn't help that the bust Vernon Gholston is out there. Yeah he has only like 1% body fat, but he simply cannot play in this league

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

The Lions already have dibs on Cowher.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

the chargers offense is running downhill all over the Jets D

Buzzmaster
  (10:21 PM)

But Tomlinson gets the TD. The new Mike Alstott.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

LT who? DS baby!

Steiny (NYC)

Wow Mangini gave a great speech during half-time.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

they should have let sproles score that one

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

There's your LT touchdown!

Buzzmaster
  (10:21 PM)

And from 17-14, we've gone to 38-14.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

time to rest LT

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

hmmm, is it time to eat my leftover wings? There is a reason you order 30 and eat 20.....

Bradley D (Charlotte NC)

L.T. is the only R.B. with more rushing T.D.s Than Marion Barber since Marion Came in the NFL

Ryan

SD is gonna easily double and even triple the spread... Favre can't do it all!!! need a D, and you need personnel for Favre to work with

Eric (San Diego, CA)

Hey Buzzmaster, how 'bout a 4 min TD drive?!

Buzzmaster
  (10:22 PM)

I imagine they'll take it.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

S.D. is looking like S.D. again.

Franky (Chicago)

That should be it for the Jets! You know, I've always respected Brett but when the Jets got him, I don't know how excatly they were gonna do it.

Josh (WA)

Favre has the personnel to work with, but the D is killing the Jets.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Honestly, Cowher totally tanked it his last year in Pit. He doesn't have that desire anymore. I'd only hire him if he came begging to coach. Talking him out of retirement would be as bad as hiring a bed and breakfast person for your offensive coordinator...

Mike (Fargo, ND)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Chiefs are going to finish 0-16 or 1-15 (we still have to play the Raiders again) There really could be three winless teams - Rams, Lions and Chiefs (oh my!)

Buzzmaster
  (10:24 PM)

We've reached the point of talking coaching vacancies and worst team in the NFL. Welcome to 38-17.

Buzzmaster
  (10:24 PM)

Or 38-14.

Bee

well the fat lady is singing her heart out already

Mike (Lexington, KY)

the Jets are who I thought they were....average

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Now the Jets are going to be forced to throw the ball. How has that been working so far?

Steiny (NYC)

The Chargers are getting the Jets back for defeating them in the 2006 playoffs.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

SD IS looking like SD again. Nice 1-2 start this year.

Pete (NY)

Does the Jets have playbooks or do they just make it up as they go along?

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Mangini should take 2 shots downfield. but he won't.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Worst team - Rams Worst coach - Marvin Lewis

Josh (WA)

The whole turning point of the game was the onside kick when they were down by 3.

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

Dont get too fired up about SD, they are playing an Oakland caliber team

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Yeah, take shots downfield. They wont expect that.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Worst owner Al davis.

Buzzmaster
  (10:27 PM)

What's your all-worst NFL lineup of owner, coach, QB?

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

worst owner, AL DAVIS, hands down

Mike (Lexington, KY)

Worst owner contender Mike Brown

Josh (New Hampshire)

Worst GM Matt Millen

Tom (Chicago)

I divorced the Lions in 2003. They almost made me hate the NFL. Thank god for fantasy football.

Tom (Chicago)

William Clay Ford, Bobby Ross, Scott Mitchell.

Buzzmaster
  (10:28 PM)

Active

Max (River Forest, IL)

Vernon Gholston 2008 = Alonzo Spellman 1992 - hopefully he has a better run.

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

Owner of Oakland, Byron leftwich QB, Last years miami coach, for some reason the names escape me at the moment

Buzzmaster
  (10:28 PM)

Leftwich isn't starting now though.

Eric (San Diego, CA)

SURE, throw it downfield! We need to defend our takeaways title!

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Owner Davis, Coach, Gruden, QB Grossman.

Buzzmaster
  (10:29 PM)

Grossman's not starting either.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

I'll add a 4th position, GM. It's Mike Brown/Al Davis, tie. Matt Millen, Tyler Thigpen, Marvin Lewis.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

The Lions have won 1 playoff game in 50 years. I'm pretty sure that means William Clay Ford is the winner for owner.

Buzzmaster
  (10:30 PM)

Favre throws it up into double coverage, incomplete.

cal (wisconsin)

I own a bar 15 miles from green bay and it is funny to see that there are more people watching the game in the bar tonight than there was last night for the packer game. people are getting in each others faces about favre and tonight game, it is crazy.

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

oh currently active......hmmm?

Josh (New Hampshire)

Worst QB Matt Cassel

Tom (Chicago)

William Clay Ford, Norv Turner, Kyle Orton?

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

you have to give a career award to bill bidwell sr. his son has been doing a better job, but they were notorious for being the cheapest team in the NFL for years.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

Norv Turner gets a bad wrap...

Buzzmaster
  (10:31 PM)

Down goes Favre

Jeff (Breaux Bridge,La)

Did I just see someone put Gruden as worst coach?

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Active QB.......Tyler Thigpen

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

I agree with Josh, cassel stinks

Buzzmaster
  (10:32 PM)

3rd and 19, Favre has them right where he wants them!

Pete (NY)

Ok people when Kiffin is gone who here want's to coach in Oakland? Hey Buzz you want the Job of coaching the Raiders?

Buzzmaster
  (10:33 PM)

I'll pass

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Gruden won with Dungy's team and ran T.B. into the ground. He's supposed to be an offensive guru.

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

worst coach has got to be rod marinelli. he's just terrible, thank god im not a lions fan.

Buzzmaster
  (10:34 PM)

Fourth and short, gotta go for it, right?

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Wht not?

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Gotta go for it. They probably wont get this close to the endzone again this game.

Pete (NC)

lets see how favre screws up this 4th down play

Julian, ON

He made Griese throw 67 times, that's genius in a whole different way.

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

QB sneak time!

Buzzmaster
  (10:36 PM)

Why does a Nebraska Tourism commercial seem just right for a 38-14 game?

Bee

Favre will wish he stayed retired

Mike (Fargo, ND)

You know your team is in trouble when you get beat by Lane Kiffen and the Raiders, then get blown out by the Baby Birds in Atlanta

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

They're gonna bring the heat.

Buzzbomb1976

Gotta say Im enjoying San Diego playing at a better level

Buzzmaster
  (10:37 PM)

Interception dropped, but Chargers take over anyway.

Tom (Chicago)

What are people going to do in Nebraska? Visit the corn palace?

Jonah (Tennessee)

Jets won't even make playoffs...Maybe if they're lucky they won't finish last in their division!

Pete (NY)

Well that's one way to end that drive a near interception

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

who was making the executive decisions for NYJ, spending too much money on favre, getting a 4-3 DT in Jenkins to play the 3-4 NT when he never played a full season at CAR, Gholston hasnt shown me anything, but they took him just so the pats couldnt turn him into gold(ston), bad pun, i know

Tom (Chicago)

Who knows, the "Mangenius" may be the worst coach in football...

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Anything but running plays from here will tell me ALOT about the Norv Turner/SD class.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Why is LT in this game? Sit him out so he can get that toe better...

Buzzmaster
  (10:39 PM)

Maybe they're saving Sproles!

Mike (Lexington, KY)

I agree get LT outta there

Julian (Toronto, ON)

This has to rate as one of Favre's worst MNF performance. Should have 4 INTs by now.

Pete (NY)

Mike from NC that would be Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Favre was the best QB available and they spent money to win now.

Everyman(Common Sense, USA)

Sit Sproles.........he's the bigger weapon right now.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Oh gosh, let's worry about class in the NFL. Gee, lets be nice to the other team that tries to break your body on every play...wahhhh waahhhhh classss! show class!! wahhhhh!!! Do we need to start handing out Rings to every team in the NFL so none of them are losers???

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

Save sproles next week I need like 18 more fantasy points!!

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

No, but stop whining about last week's blown call :)

Josh (New Hampshire)

Does anyone know who the QB will be in New England 14 days from now? Please say anyone other than Cassel?

Mike (Lexington, KY)

we have a punter citing

Buzzmaster
  (10:42 PM)

We need our man from Oklahoma City who gave the punter breakdowns during last year's chats.

El_dude00

I'm a Denver Fan, and I gotta tell you that SD looks great tonight. However, if the Jets are not going to block the folks rushing the QB any LB would look great. Congrats Chargers! I knew you weren't dead at all. See you in Dec!

Julian (Toronto, ON)

I need Rivers to get a couple more TD throws to get me the win in Fantasy. What's the rule on running up the score these days? I know the Pats got away with it because they're the Pats but nevertheless.

Tom (Chicago)

A punter was cited? Did he break a law? Or was he quoted for something?

Josh (New Hampshire)

that was me buzz

Jay from San Jose

Kellen Clemens was a better qb. Also, what happened to Brad Smith and why does he play so poorly now? Wasn't he supposed to be a great #2 receiver?

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

good to see mike ciphers still remembers how to punt.

Bill Bellacheat(Boston, MA)

Run up the score all you like, there are no rules against it, other than you'll still NOT win the Superbowl!

PoRoRo (New York, NY)

What happened to Kris Jenkins? Pouha was getting manhandled so badly that Shaun Ellis is playing the nose now...

Mike (Lexington, KY)

i say run up the score...keeps us watching and gives sportswriters something to complain about

Pete (NC)

They play fantasy football in canada, eh?

Buzzmaster
  (10:45 PM)

CFL fantasy leagues.

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

Perhaps a couple throws to Stuckey would turn this game around, my fantasy game as well....

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Yeah run it up. Who cares?

Josh (WA)

They still have to play 4 Qtrs, why not try and score each possesion.

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

there's pretty much fantasy everything and over/unders for everything.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Fantasy points are worth 50% more in Canada.

Buzzmaster
  (10:47 PM)

These days it might be the other way around, Jeremy.

Ed Hoculi

Wow, one penalty on SD tonight. I knew my call would get made up.

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

wow that pass interference was uncatchable, there was more contact on cromartie interception that should have been called

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Yeah and when you win your league you get 7 gallons of maple syrup.

Josh (New Hampshire/Oklahoma City)

Mike Scifres happens to be a talented punter. He could be used better on a team like Kansas City

BUFFALOOOO

Maybe now people will stop talkin all this fantasy talk about the jets being sssooo good even tho they were 4-12 last year and start talkin about some real news in the BUFFFFAAALLLOOO BILLS. cause no one circles the wagons like us.

Mike (ND)

I thought in Canadian Leagues you won Beer?

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Let me make fun of Canadian currency. It's all I got left.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Yeah, those Toronto Bills are looking pretty good...

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

i'm sure there are bacon leagues as well, not just syrup leagues.

Tom (Chicago)

Cliff, not only do you get maple syrup, you get gravy.

Buzzmaster
  (10:49 PM)

Meanwhile, for those interested, it's 38-14 as the fourth quarter begins.

Pete (NY)

Hasn't the Buffalo Bills moved to Toronto yet?

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Oakland meltdown does not equal "circle the wagon time"

Donnie(NC)

Is it safe to say this will be Mangini's last year in New York? They spent way too much on new players to be playing like they have to date.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Oh wow, if bacon is the first place prize, I'd cheat to win those leagues...

Buzzmaster
  (10:51 PM)

A piece of unsliced bacon is a flitch. I did not know that. The wonders of wikipedia.

Julian (Toronto, ON)

Nothing wrong with Maple Syrup my friend, ain't nothing wrong at all.

Bee

turn off the lights this party's over

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

After the good games the past two weeks this one is boring.

Tom (Chicago)

I stopped watching the game about 10 minutes ago. This is much more entertaining

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

Canadian bacon = american ham?

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

they cant dump mangini, ill miss the two manhugs that happen every year when the lose to the pats

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

I wonder if wrapping bacon around buffalo wings would be good. Wait, are we going to have to start calling them Toronto Wings now?

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

i would refuse to play in the syrup-gravy league tom plays in. too much condiment.

Pete (NC)

i hear maple cured bacon is good stuff too

Julian (Toronto, ON)

I think there's only one Bills game happening in the regular season in Toronto ... and I believe it's versus the Jets. Needless to say, they'll probably have to give away tickets again just like in the preseason.

Buzzmaster
  (10:53 PM)

Favre may seek asylum while he's there.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

This offense is great to watch! What exciting play calling!

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Now the jets wanna throw it.

Tom (Chicago)

Come on. A syrup and gravy league means pancakes and french fries for everyone.

Josh (New Hampshire/Oklahoma City)

I am happy we are going to see the talented Sam Koch in action next week

Josh (New Hampshire/Oklahoma City)

Nothing will beat the Sam Koch versus Andy Lee from last years monday night punt fest

Buzzmaster
  (10:54 PM)

Jets going for it on 4th again.

Julian (Toronto, ON)

Canadian Bacon = Back Bacon. Though Cutler has more potential, Rivers is the better pro so far and has proven more. Cutler is just the new star in town and hasn't played against a tough defense yet (Oakland, SD and NO)

Buzzmaster
  (10:55 PM)

Nicely tied together.

Pete (NC)

am i missing something? isnt it the NATIONAL football league? what's with these international games?

Buzzmaster
  (10:55 PM)

It justifies calling them world champions.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

The Jet's are awesome at the 2 minute drive. Almost as good as the Eagles and the Redskins...

Buzzmaster
  (10:56 PM)

TD Jets on Favre's pass

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

TD! *yawn*

Josh (New Hampshire/Oklahoma City)

Stuckey is pretty decent in the Red Zone isn't he?

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

it's also the national hockey league. i don't think it means much.

Josh (WA)

WOW the Jets scored. What happened? Is SD second string D in the game.

Buzzmaster
  (10:57 PM)

The Chargers defense was also talking about bacon, as it turns out.

Julian (Toronto, ON)

Stuckey just made a few fantasy owners pretty happy.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

world champions of the world baby!

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

The game isn't over yet though.

Buzzmaster
  (10:57 PM)

Sadly true.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

What exactly has Rivers "proven"? That he can ride LT to the playoffs? That he's started 2-5 the last two seasons? That he is Penningtonesque with his arm?

marc, atlanta georgia

chargers have to stop counting to 5 aligators

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Yeah about how they cooked N.Y's bacon.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Aaron, its not how you start seasons, its how you end them.

Buzzmaster
  (10:59 PM)

Unless you start them 6-10.

Mike, Baja MX

What's the record for the least # of flags/game? Not a Charger or Jet's fan, but geeze - did they forget to issue the zebra's flags? If the league just decided to give SDO one to make up, then why play the game?

Buzzmaster
  (11:00 PM)

And the Jets recover the onside kick ...

Pete (NC)

J-E-T-S!

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Recovered!

Julian (Toronto, ON)

Rivers went to the AFC championship game while both LT and Gates struggled with injuries, and put up a solid and admirable effort one week after tearing knee ligaments. If we're rating the young QBs, how do you put Cutler ahead of Rivers? Like I said, Cutler has the better talent and the cannon of an arm, but Rivers has proven more so far.

Andrew (San Diego)

Somewhere in Jersey there is a man doing the lights out dance

Matt (Asheville)

Do I smell another last minute failure?

Max (River Forest, IL)

As I was about to type (could this be time for another onside kick?) they beat me to it!

Pete (NY)

Wow Jets recover an onside kick! Who taught them to do that?

marc, atlanta georgia

yikes, special teams melt down

Julian (Toronto, ON)

Two onside kicks before midway through the fourth quarter, is that some sort of record?

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

I might start to watch more than i type!

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Any chance they regret going for it on 4th down in the 3rd quarter?

Mike (Lexington, KY)

still a 3 score deficit

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

How can anyone say Cutler has more talent than Rivers? Rivers has arguably, a top 5 RB and TE of all time..........Cutler had NOTHING until this year, and yet, if starting a team today, Cutler is my pick over Rivers and it's not even a hard decision IMO.

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

Stuckey, Stuckey. Stuckey

Julian (Toronto, ON)

Gotta admit, for an apparent blowout, this game has been pretty interesting and entertaining with a bit of everything.

Ephraim R. (Thomasville, GA)

we have a gholst sighting

Max (River Forest, IL)

If they score here, we have a ball game ;-0 Then, we'll see a third onside kick - they should have gone for two.

Buzzmaster
  (11:03 PM)

Coles inside the 10, there's the YAC Favre got from Green Bay's WR's last year.

Buzzmaster
  (11:03 PM)

And Favre sacked outside the 10 ...

marc, atlanta georgia

its not easy being a charger fan

Billdawg2007

I hope brett pulls off some old time heroics

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

actually its a one possession game, they're going to give the jets 6 points for every ref that signals TD, new rule interpretation they're trying out on the chargers

Pete (NC)

i would really hate to be a chargers fan if they lose this one.

Christian (High Point, NC)

So at what point can a San Diego fan feel that the game is in hand? Up by 30 with a minute left? Or is that too soon?

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

No SD defense!!! whats new?

Tom (Chicago)

Poor Chargers fans. They live in the nicest weather in the country and have the best RB in football. Yeah, must be tough.

Buzzmaster
  (11:05 PM)

Traffic can be tough.

Buzzmaster
  (11:05 PM)

Fourth down, going for the FG.

Andrew (San Diego)

Charger fans have a second team in times of crisis. USC baby!!!!

Christian (High Point, NC)

FG here to get within 15, and then another onside kick attempt?

Buzzmaster
  (11:05 PM)

38-23

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Lets be honest: unless the Jets can pull off 2 more onside kicks, this game is still over.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Tom - the RB is breaking down, the QB is immature and not that good, and half the defense are admitted steriod users. IT IS TOUGH.

Andrew (San Diego)

more like beach parking buzz

Pete (NC)

I think you just kick off and earn your paycheck.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

It really can be, Buzz.

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

dont forget San Diego State from the MWC and San Diego U from the WCC

Buzzmaster
  (11:07 PM)

And UC-San Diego from the ... something.

Julian (Toronto, ON)

Well, it's a two score game with 8:21 remaining. Plenty of time left. Chargers might actually be worse than the Bears at closing out games.

Christian (High Point, NC)

Jets don't need 2 more onside kicks, they just need at least one defensive stop. Tall order, obviously, but possible.

Andrew (San Diego)

they should have that Star wars commercial for the Oak MNF

marc, atlanta georgia

watch out for the kick..................

Buzzmaster
  (11:08 PM)

Jets kick away for the touchback.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

It's all Norv's fault.

Richard Jackson, MS

Was the last play by Saun Phillips on the 2 point conversion a sack? I have Phillips in my fantasy league and I didn't notice any change in his score after that play

Buzzmaster
  (11:08 PM)

Shaun Wright Phillips? Manchester City?

Mike (Lexington, KY)

one play and another commercial....wow who knew

Dave (San Jose, CA)

Man-genious finally figured out to use the Green Bay playbook.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Quick, put Sproles back in the game to get the lead back up high!

Christian (High Point, NC)

So what's the call here, keep handing off the ball? Also, I don't think sacks on 2-point conversions count for stats purposes.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

buzz...a soccer reference... kudos

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

And did they just kick off normally? Why wouldn't you kick onside again?

Max (River Forest, IL)

I don't like that call (I mean, I hope SD wins, I have them in the Suicide Pool this week) but they should keep pressing the bet - what's the worst that happens - they just get the ball back sooner after SD scores and then they have more time for Brett to work with, right? What am I missing?

marc, atlanta georgia

chargers must eat the clock and give the defense a rest.

Josh (New Hampshire/Oklahoma City)

We walk together with our hero's Above a green field, under a blue sky We win one more star To shine for us And together we sing

Buzzmaster
  (11:11 PM)

You walk with Ronaldinho.

Christian (High Point, NC)

Crucial 3rd down coming up

Buzzmaster
  (11:12 PM)

Picked up on the short pass.

Christian (High Point, NC)

Robert: Because there's over 8 minutes left. Plenty of time for two scores if the defense can stop them.

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

maybe mangini will make it interesting, challenge an obviously correct call, surrendering a timeout, america loves drama

Christian (High Point, NC)

Quick slant, move the chains, first down SD with just over 6 minutes remaining.

Julian (Toronto, ON)

Wright Phillips and Robinho on the same squad is some serious quickness/flash, though a serious lack of smarts or flair. Sacks on 2 point conversions don't count for anything.

Pete (NY)

Jets defense forgot their play books so they are making it up as they go along

Buzzmaster
  (11:13 PM)

Another third down coming up here ...

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Jets need the ball back NOW.

marc, atlanta georgia

LT looks pretty good, which is the best thing Ive seen all night

Mike (Lexington, KY)

its chelsea's year

Buzzmaster
  (11:14 PM)

And Rivers burns them deep, down to the one yard line.

Kevin (Houston, TX)

Or would that be Robinho Buzz?

Josh (New Hampshire/Oklahoma City)

and that should do it

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Great play call.

Christian (High Point, NC)

That's game (unless LdT fumbles with the 1-yard run)

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Game over.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

start up the plane

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

If you are confident your defense can stop them, then it makes even more sense to onside kick. You are actually giving yourself a change to get the ball back on offense. And if you give it to the Chargers, then by all means, you have faith your defense can stop them. It's an idiotic move to not onside kick it.

Buzzmaster
  (11:15 PM)

Another LT TD

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Ballgame.

Pete (NY)

So much for a Jets comeback

Andrew (San Diego)

Lights out!!!!

Tom lawrence kansas

what a find! i'm at work and can't watch the game. then i realizd that i can follow the game buy just reading what you guys are writting. It's great. Even if half of you don't know what your talking about.

Buzzmaster
  (11:15 PM)

Only half?

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

And with that I win my fantasy football matchup!

Mike (Lexington, KY)

i still dont understand LT in the game but hasnt hurt them yet

Christian (High Point, NC)

Now now, this is the Chargers. Still plenty of time for 3 TDs against them.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

LONG, LONG flight home.

Mitch (NJ)

Heads better roll tomorrow at the new Jets HQ. Both coordinators need to be fired already. Two years in a row they don't make adjustments and they don't play aggressively from the outset. They are a complete embarassment. If Mangini doesn't fire them, it's Bill Cowher time.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Now Farve will toss up the pick.

Max (River Forest, IL)

Well, that should just about do it. I doubt even the Chargers D, nor the refs can screw up badly enough for the Jets to pull this one out.

Christian (High Point, NC)

But if you onside kick and stop them, you get the ball at your own 10 (after the punt). If you kickoff to them and stop them, you'll have much better field position.

Aaron(Denver, CO)

Wait, is Tom from KS allowed to post? His state is 0-6 :)

Buzzmaster
  (11:16 PM)

That would be Missouri ...

Buzzmaster
  (11:17 PM)

Chargers trying to make it interesting, as the Jets return the kick to the 20.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Don't underestimate the zebras.

marc, atlanta georgia

call the jewelers, get the rings ready, phillip is winning the superbowl. He looks great

Mike (Lexington, KY)

The chargers need to work on their kickoff coverage

Aaron(Denver, CO)

You knew what I meant.

Buzzmaster
  (11:18 PM)

That's what I always told my teachers. They never bought it.

Buzzmaster
  (11:18 PM)

And a TD for the Jets.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

that was quick

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

SCORING FRENZY!!!

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

The Chargers D is terrible...

Christian (High Point, NC)

TD Jets. Going for 2.

Pete (NY)

Chargers need to play a real team not the Jets and see how they do

Christian (High Point, NC)

Marc in Atlanta has apparently never heard that defense wins championships.

Andrew (San Diego)

Nice pic. that would've been two easy and the back breaker

BUFFALLOOOO

whered that flag come from??

Julian (Toronto, ON)

Somehow the Chargers come out of this game looking worse than better.

Buzzmaster
  (11:20 PM)

Back-to-back flags on the conversion attempt.

Buzzmaster
  (11:20 PM)

Might as well sneak it for the 2 here.

Ray (Chicago)

Those were both legit flags

Refs (San Diego)

okay, we know the protocol

Christian (High Point, NC)

Is this the longest 2-point conversion attempt in NFL history?

marc, atlanta georgia

might as well hold every time, no real penalty on the defense

J.D.(Baton Rouge)

The linemen never get their hands up. The zones underneath are never covered.

Pete (NY)

If their is a 3rd flag do they just give it to them?

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

its the shortest in terms of yardage

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

they dont run the clock on two point conversions either, so no

Buzzmaster
  (11:22 PM)

And flag No. 3...

Buzzmaster
  (11:22 PM)

They're going to need that new particle accelerator to spot this.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

sneeze on the ball!

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Terrible....absolutely terrible...

Andrew (San Diego)

Draw up the middle

Buzzmaster
  (11:23 PM)

And the incompletion.

roger (England)

what no flag?!?

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

That was cloooooose.

Common sense (mind)

Run it in. Play some football. Quit being cowards and run it.

Pete (NY)

Ok if their is a 4th flag do they give it to them?

Ray (Chicago)

Completly stupid play calling there. They should have ran they were an inch away. Jones could easily have ran up the middle for a 2 pointer.

Josh (WA)

How does he keep his job? What the heck kind of play calling was that?

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

what a fantastic play call! Wow, I'm sorry for all my sarcasm, I'm a Lions fan, after all.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

i have to question not sneaking that one...geez

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

perhaps a Large Hadron accelerator that is currently offline but once running again it will exlpode the earth!???

Julian (Toronto, ON)

This is some awful play calling by the Jets ... just awful.

Buzzmaster
  (11:24 PM)

Jets recover the onside, but it didn't go 10 yards.

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

You can thank the media and ignorant Jets fans on that throw there. WAHHH THEY RAN THE BALL 3 TIMES ON FIRST AND GOAL LAST WEEK!!!!

Russ(Houston)

So people complained last week about the Jets trying to run at the goal line, now at the 1 inch line they dont even have a running back in the game...pathetic

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Feely laid a guy out!

Micah (Waxahachie,Tx)

If the Chargers somehow lost this game Norv Turner is gonna throw-up on the field.

Ray (Chicago)

The question is if the ball was touched 1st in which case it would be Jets ball

Andrew (San Diego)

Feeley builllied that defender. HILARIOUS!

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

That should have been kick-catch interference on the kicker, he delivered a shot before the ball got there

Graham (San Diego, CA)

Really, 45 points against a bunch of junk time points by the jets and you say they look worse? This game is much more of a blow out than the score indicates.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Run, run, run, run, and then run some more here. NO reason to pass. Let's see what Norv does.

Ray (Chicago)

Well this game is over. Good night.

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Dont go backwards LT! I'm literally .5 points ahead right now.

Pete (NC)

san diego gave up 29 pts o the jets. that is just terrible.

Josh (WA)

It stopped being a game in the Second quarter.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

wheres natrone means when u need him

Buzzmaster
  (11:28 PM)

C'mon, we had Natrone last week. This week has to be the Rod Bernstine reference.

Hugh(st. augustine, FL)

Sprole, Sprole, sproles, no reason to pass here

Pete (NC)

i'll laugh if SD punts and the jets return for a td

Max (River Forest)

Seriously, why is LT still in there? For that matter, shouldn't Volek be handling the handoff duty to somebody with a 20 something on their jersey?

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Lol Natrone Means. He was BIG.

Andrew (San Diego)

Hall of Famer QB make things happen pete.

Christian (High Point, NC)

3rd down, play is short. Chargers go for 4th, FG, or punt? Hopefully go for it.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

i forgot sorry buzz...hangs head in shame :))

Buzzmaster
  (11:30 PM)

FGA wiped out by Chargers timeout.

Christian (High Point, NC)

Did San Diego just ice their own kicker?

Dan (San Diego)

We are too used to underperforming here in SD

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

oh lord, here comes the punting team to put it in the endzone...go for it on 4th down, the odss are in your favor...

Andrew (San Diego)

Kaedings my man now that he can actually make some Field Goals

Pete (NC)

haha, just like the panthers blocking a fg but calling a TO before

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

I think so Christian

Buzzmaster
  (11:31 PM)

FG is good, 48-29.

Freeze (Dallas)

This is not a game at all...

Andrew (San Diego)

Game over. And here comes the Traffic buzz

Robert (Huntsville, Al)

Onside kick it! Do it!

Suzanne Venice FL

What's with the gloves on a kicker? (Feeley)

Josh (WA)

Here comes the Jets huge return again.

Pete (NC)

you know whats scary, i am up by 1 pt and have favre, i bet he throws an int

Graham (San Diego, CA)

Tomorrows Headline Should Read: In reality, Broncos and Chargers tied atop of the AFC West.

Buzzmaster
  (11:33 PM)

That's an interesting reality you live in.

Andrew (San Diego)

Special teams are going to be doing sprints on tuesday

Mike (Lexington, KY)

its about time someone hit the kick returner

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Just throw it up there.

Kyle (Evansville, IN)

Any miracle shot for the Jets was lost when they got the ball on the half-foot line for the two point conversion and went 5 wide...Its not Brett's fault...what the hell kind of ridiculous play call is that? Sneak, hand off, do anything but go 5-wide

Buzzmaster
  (11:35 PM)

I'm pretty sure that didn't exactly turn the tide.

Andrew (San Diego)

so when did verizon get so creepy?

Buzzmaster
  (11:36 PM)

Now the officials are filling their flag quotas.

Mike (Lexington, KY)

now the flags are flying liberally

Andrew (San Diego)

WHOOOO! what a hit.

Common sense (mind)

How is that a penalty? When did the NFL refs get so wimpy?

Pete (NC)

that was a helmet to helmet, good call

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Terrible pentaly call. They are trying to protect players a little too much these days. This IS football.

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

Bad call.

Mike (Thomasville, NC)

wouldnt it be funny if the refs called enough penalties in the last two mins that it puts SD on the losing side again?

Andrew (San Diego)

gimme a pic 6 Cromart

Cliff (Middletown, CT)

All we're gonna hear on P.T.I and stuff is gonna be "Are the Jets in trouble?"

Kyle (Evansville, IN)

Didn't turn the tide, I agree, but that's the sort of thing that makes you wonder how you could ever win a game.

Buzzmaster
  (11:38 PM)

And the pick for Cromartie.

Andrew (San Diego)

THANK YOU CROMART!!!!

Mike (Lexington, KY)

fitting end with an INT

Jeremy (Ann Arbor)

Looks like Favre is doing some mentoring in New York.

Aaron(Alexandria, KY)

Denver 3-0 SD 1-2 Oakland 1-2 KC 0-3 Nuff said

Buzzmaster
  (11:39 PM)

And that'll do it for tonight. See you all back here next week!
